Pavilion 500-217: 500-217 HP. new power supply

Has anyone upgraded the power on this machine? The new GPU I want says it requires 400w and this one has only 300w.  Also, if I ignored that, this device seems not having all the extra power connectors that I see in any case.

Does anyone have a suggestion of a power supply meets these requirements?

Thanks, I was really considering this one. Reassessed to my needs and I'm going with the CX500. Appreciate the comments.

Last year, I bought a HP Pavilion 500-326na. I now want to update its graphics and to do this, I need to power level. I want to upgrade to a CX500, but the specs say that his current power is "external". I don't know what this means, and indeed, I don't know if I will be able to upgrade. I see no reason why I shouldn't be, but everything I've seen only offers assistance on internal types.

    Thanks for any help.

    Hello

Look at the power supply cord.  If you have a device of black brick similar to those for portable computers, then you have an external power supply. PC with external cannot be upgraded with the installation of an internal power supply as a Corsair CX500 according to HP internal.

  • Pavilion NC768AA #ABA: HP Pavilion model. a6719f new video card with the new power supply?

    Hello!

So, I won money to buy (hopefully) a new video card!

    However, I have a problem.

I don't know which one to get!

SO, someone please, please recommend a video card for intermediate level games.

(My budget is less than $280)

    My PC has stock everything.

Thus, it was purchased as it was when you would get everything first he.

Yes, I need also a new power supply that is included with my budget.

    Thank you!

    Revionion, welcome to the forum.

I'd be happy to help you in your choice.  The main problem is, recent video cards require UEFI in the motherboard instead of a standard BIOS to legacy.  HP didn't start using UEFI until mid-October 2012.  The latest maps not requiring UEFI were the series GTX 640.  However, MSI has made a card that has a VBIOS hybrid which can operate with a BIOS.  The best thing to do is to choose a video card you like and contact Technical Support from the manufacturer to ensure that it will work on your computer as it is almost 7 years old.  This will save you problems.  They are the experts on their cards.

I like Corsair power supply units (PSU).  I suggest at least 500W.  This will give you plenty of power for any card that works in your computer.

If you have any other questions, let me know.  I'll be happy to help you.

  • HP Pavilion p6-2: problems on blocking down after I installed the new power supply on a p6-2207ep

    Hi all

B4 explaining my problem, I really don't know if I should post this in office, or material in this section of the freezes/crashes/locks but since I posted in freezing section and no results I decided to try here.

    My pc: http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=c03382032

I bought a new PSU: XFX TS 550W 80PLUS BRONZE for the GPU upgrade 380 R9 I was planning to do.

Is there some BIOS I get HP for this cause of power supply from what I read, if I not only one of the things like manufacturer reset to the factory settings may stop working... Currently, my Bios version is 7.11...

Problems with the new power supply:

When I closed windows 7, the first problem, the picture freezes on the screen that says "blocking windows down", I waited a bit and nothing, tried to turn off the machine while keeping down the power button but nothing to disable directly in the rear switch of the PSU...

Second time happened a little different soomething, seconds after freezing again on the screen that says "blocking windows down" windows actually turned off and the screen is off but everything inside the computer case continues to flow fans in light of the power button / stop and was also able to close by keeping pressed power button...

When I restart the computer, to which some time stops, and only after a few seconds, it turns...

Also tried the GPU with the new PSU fans worked but no entry in the screen that I guess just a power supply problem.

ATM, I'm RMA waiting to know if it is a power supply defective or not...

Problems after the reinstallation of the original material:

Some of the same problems when I got the new PSU remained namely:

Windows actually stop and the screen is off, but everything inside the computer case continues to flow fans in the light of the button on / off and was also able to close by keeping the power button...

When I restart the computer, to which some time stops, and only after a few seconds, it turns...

What I've done so far to try to fix the problem:

Restore windows 7 to a b4 point the hardware installation.

    Reset the BIOS

    Hard reset

    Clean boot

Do you have a full checkdisk which means 0 KB in bad sectors...

A complete hardware checked all tests with the HP software

A system file check everything beautiful

What I fear most is a faulty PSU that may have caused damage to my equipment mainly the motherboard, but could be something else entirely.

Maybe I need a specific BIOS for that motherboard / PSU combo, but after returning to the source material, the problems remained.

What I can do because I can only make the software tests since I don't have an extra PC to test the parts...

    Hello

Disconnect all external devices except the keyboard and mouse when you try to solve the problem.

Disconnect the PC and removed the CMOS battery.  Press and hold the power for 30 seconds.  Now, replace the CMOS battery and plug the PC give a TI a go.

Your PC is not stable enough to make a BIOS update. Do not attempt to use the graphics card XFX until your PC is stable enough to make a BIOS update.

  • My new power supply work with my motherboard?

    Hello

I reasontly bourght a few upgrades for my PC.

    I bourght an i7 870 and an AMD 5670 + a new power supply

So my question, what ive in doubt, my new PSU(CX-500) work with my motherboad (MS-7613(Lona-GL8E)?

    Thanks in advance

    René Tyrsted

    Thank you.

    Yes. It will work.

However you will probably find a little tight because of remaining unused cable bundles. My preference for the PC ATX Mid-size boxes are of the modular power supply. With a modular power supply connect only s connector as much as you want.

Do the upgrades one at a time.  Start with the power SUPPLY and any other origin. Check that it works and then close.  Then go to the graphics card.

    Happy update.

  • new power supply for a6319fh

im going to be upgrading my diet so I can update my graphics card. the vehicle currently has a 250w power supply and I want to go between 450-600w. I need to know what brands will certainly adapt to my case. I have a processor intel dual core and im on vista sp1. also the new power supply will require an update of fan? any help will be greatly appreciated.

Given that this case is an office of size, or it seems, you should be able to use a standard ATX power supply box.  To be sure, take it with you for the purpose of comparison or get the dimensions.  The fan is usually part of the diet, unless you want to say the "fan" which will probably still be OK, too.

  • New power supply and logic board?

I need to get a new power supply and the logic board put in my iMac - when I did, this is my iMac will be indented from the base/settings (i.e. will I need to put everything on my external hard drive to backup) or will all my personal data / records/work etc., always be on it?

All your data, applications, and settings are on the hard drive, if that is not replaced everything will be as it was. That said, you should always have a backup before you take your mac at home.

  • Find a new power supply for HPE-350 t

Recently I upgraded my graphics card to a MSI GTX 570 Frozr III, he returned barely in there, and now I need to replace my power supply 300W so my computer would stop closing. I was very happy of the journal online CORSAIR TX650, but here is a problem: he's going to slip into my computer case, which is a t HPE-350? I would like to get a new power supply as soon as possible and please help me

    Hello

Open your PC and measure the distance between the optical drive and power.  The power supply you want to install is by 3.4 by 6.3 5.9 and standard HP POWER supply is by 3.4 by 5.5 5.9 (inches). It might been very tight.

Corsair HX650 is 5.9 by 3.4 by 5.9 and modular.  You will find may be easier to install.

TIP: Remove the front panel and the side as the optical drives to the front so you give a little more space for help with the installation of the power supply.

  • Dimension 4600 doesn't work with the new power supply

    Hi all

I replaced the power supply in my 4600 today so he would welcome a Nvidia Geforce 7950GT AGP.

The model is an integrator of Aerocool 500W 80 Plus Bronze. http://www.Amazon.co.UK/GP/product/B00JKVHKSU?

The 4600 has two sockets on the motherboard. A 20 pin and 4 pin. The new power supply had a 24pin cable that I shared, so it became 20 + 4.

It is not working properly. With all the connected cables (2 cables for the mobo) and 2 connectors molex to drive HARD and CD - R, there is a flashing orange light on the front of the computer and a green light on the motherboard. Some discs don't look, no noise. Nothing is on. If I remove the power cable from motherboard 4 pin POWER supply lights up and the fan from the CPU. There is no problem when I connect the old Dell 250w PSU back up.

Some of the reviews on Amazon have said that some cable has been connected to wrong and only he re-wiring to work. I don't know if this applies to me? I took some pictures of the connectors. http://imgur.com/a/6m9pu

Have you used the connector 4 pins, which was part of the 20 + 4 P1 12v connector, connect to the P2 4 motherboard connector pins 12v?

    See 41, J5B1 Connector [aka P2]

Connector 4 + 4 pin 12v PSU is divided into two 4-pin connectors and one of them, can be used for the P2 motherboard connector.

  • Installed a new power supply, run only windows XP.

So I recently replaced my power supply, and all respect that seems to be going very well that the computer has no problem running. However, every time I start the computer, it start in Windows XP and immediately requires me a check on windows XP. A screen will appear asking if I would like to activate via phone or internet tool. If I use the online detection tool, he suggests, he says that I can not connect to the internet and sends me in return. If I call the number, I can possibly a recording of the voice asking me the code 40 numbers on my screen. Whenever I enter this code by phone, he says he does not recognize that code and I'm at square one. So basically, how can I get my computer to start as it has always, in Windows 7 and with all my usual data?

Also, I tried to start in safe mode with command prompt. When I get to the menu Startup and recovery in system properties, it appears the only operating system default is "Windows XP Media Center Edition. I have several hard drives my best guess is that it maintains launch than bad. Any help find how launch of correct would be greatly appreciated.

TLDR; New power supply, computer guard run windows xp and by asking for activation, when I was previously with windows 7 for more than a year.

    Good guess:

When you have reconnected all cables in your PC after installing the new power supply, you connected the SATA (data) cable that should go to your primary (generally marked 0) SATA port for a hard drive that has Windows XP on it.

    Check your cables.

  • How to install the new power supply?

    OK firstly plug...

    Motherboard (motherboard): N-Alvorix-RS880-formfat (Alvorix)

    PC: HP p6703w

    new power supply: GS600

    new game card: evga gtx460

OK I am experianced abit but still novice when they treat the upgrade myself. So here's my question...

The mobo has a slot for 24pin power cable, but the current 250w ps uses a 20 pin in this slot. Is it safe for me to use all 24 pins for the ps (GS600) I want to? What was the reason why hp has used a 20 pins on this mobo? I don't want to fry my mobo. Laughing out loud.

    Thank you.

It is safe for you to install the connector 24 pin. You are miscounting the pins on your motherboards ATX connector. The following image is your motherboard. I count 24 pins. Product specifications for your PC State that the PSU is ATX spec.

I am a computer SCIENCE student, have a laptop HP g60-440us, needs new power supply.

Do you think that the replacement of the it's an ideal first project?  Please inform honestly.

    Thank you

It is quite another thing. It is not an internal power supply but the power module.

This is the part you need:

    part

    It is the repair:

    Manual

You don't need to weld anything. You open the laptop, remove the old module and replace with a new one. Not too difficult though as it takes concentration and following the manual and keep track of which screws go where. It is a very good first laptop repair project.

  • New power supply for Dell 435 t/9000

So I had some problems with my computer randomly power loss and to make a long story short, I need a new power supply. I have currently a 485w some brand power supply dell PSU happens to come up with, and I'm looking to upgrade to 500w. Any experience/suggestions for a PSU recommended for a Dell 435 t/9000? I fear that the pin connections are not compatible with the card mother dell, so I thought I would ask someone more experienced that I am to suggest a good 500w PSU that will work. Very much appreciated.

    Kerfindo

Generic ATX power supply can be installed, in the Studio XPS 9000/435 t with a power 24 pin or 20 + 4 pin main motherboard and EPS/ATX12V 8-pin, with or without the on/off switch.

You should be able to buy a compatible power supply either a local computer or online store.

Note: A power supply with 5 SATA connectors, is necessary.

Suggest you use the Corsair and Antec brands:
