HP Pavilion DV6-3041TX drive HARD failure and possible design Intel series 6 Chipset problem
Hey guys
I saw corruption serious hdd on my system for some time now and was just move to replace the drive hard when I came across the problem of design of Intel® chipsets. Now, I think that my system is the range of serial number for this question and as the current drive does not start, I can't check the Device Manager to see if the chipset is one of those affected.
Is there anyway for me to check this from a USB bootable or something similar, because I don't want to have to go through the effort to replace the hard drive and reinstall windows just to find the chipset is wrong?
Thank you
(Now, this is my first post on the forum if I appoilgise if I've got this in the wrong place)
Open the door of the memory on the bottom of the laptop and look under the memory for a number of motherboard.
You should have the Intel HM55 chipset, but we can be sure that if we know the motherboard part number.
You should have one of these two tips:
630281 001
615281 001 -
drive hard failure may be imminent.
When I turn on my studio 1555, it displays a warning of intelligent prediction to drive hard failure! When starting, it is slower than before, and I do serious work with my laptop, it gives me a blue screen on cenrel sth and stop! and from time to time windows alerts me to back up my data! I already ran a dell diagnostics and attached the picture! PLEASE, I BEG YOU! Somone help me.
No, there is no way to fix the drive - it must be replaced.

Pavilion DV6-6135dx: Replace hard drive SSD
Unfortunately my old HD optical 640Go dies and I need to replace it. I would use an SSD. Can anyone give me a suggestion on a good option and if you did, how does it work?
Hi @sdlloyd,
Welcome to the HP Forums!
It's a great place to find answers and advice!
You have the best experience in the HP forum, I would like to draw your attention to the HP Guide's Forums:
Learn how to post and much more.
I understand that the original 640 GB hard drive has failed and you plan to install a SSD drive.
Here is a link to HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC Maintenance and Service of Guide. Please note Chapter 3, page 36, section 1, the recommended replacement disks. You will notice the 160 GB SSD is recommended only if you have an Intel processor.
When I checked it Pavilion dv6-6135dx Entertainment Notebook PC specifications , you have an AMD processor.
Other drives may work, but as they are not tested, there is no guarantee that it would be.
Here is a link to a post of @erico Re: how to upgrade your laptop to a SATA 2.5 "SSD [new] which has helped other people install SSD drives for you to look over.
Please let me know what you decide and the outcome.

Pavilion DV6 2155dx: upgrade HARD drive to SSD
I want to upgrade my laptop Hp HDD to the SSD. Very successful on the 2 HP desktops. But not a great success on the laptop. Windows does not start with the installed SSD. Black screen with how to text of amendments, but no solution. Checking the BIOS it seems too basic and has no provision to select the correct setting. How can I upgrade the laptop to recognise and start of the SSD, as desktop computers.
Problem solved. Maybe this helps someone else.
For reference, the SSD HARD drive migration has been completed with Samsung software tools.
Although a similar migration was very successful on 2 offices of HP prior as the PC starts fine, this time the laptop set to level did not boot from SSD.
Based on the reviews elsewhere on the web, with the portable operating from the original HARD disk, I adjusted the BIOS boot sequence to boot from the internal CD-ROM. I was then already migrated SSD HARD drive. Then I started from a prior agreement prepared the repair Windows 7 Bootable disc - now I know why they are so very precious! - and started to repair startup disk said. After a few additional steps miners, he says the problem fixed and carried out traditional, clean startups.
Also, I can confirm that the Pavilion DV6 works very well with a 250 GB SSD. Most good, this is a speedster. There is therefore no limitations to 160 GB the HP Document seems to suggest.

HP Pavilion DV6-7050 (EU) Hard Drive by unscrewing
Hi guys!
I just bought a HP Pavilion DV6-7050 and a 500 GB SSD to put in it. When I opened it to the top, I found that the screw would not cancel any screwdriver I used! I did some research, and the screws are Phillips PM2, 5 × 3.5: as far as I see it, there is no commercially available screwdrivers available for purchase that can undo this screw.
It is just a small operation I can (and did) me: I will not pay anything more, I want to just trade around two hard drives. A counselor on the way out the hard drive caddy?

The screwdriver must be in a common computer tool/screwdriver set.

Drive hard failure ID: 936JJ3-54W75L-XD003G-60VX03
My system: HP Pavilion dv6-3040us; Product ID: WQ676UA #ABA; System ID: 143F; BIOS: F.29 25/02/2013
Hard Drive failure ID: 936JJ3-54W75L-XD003G-60VX03 during the short test HDD.
I was not able to find an explanation for the fault code referenced hard drive I get who runs the HARD drive test. This code is blown on several occasions during the short test HDD and it does not in the long run test but stops with this error. So, I guess that the drive should be replaced because a CHKDSK command-line with the set of "fix" has not solved the problem.
My question is if I can replace the HHD with a 500 GB SSD on this motherboard? If Yes, what steps do I take to replace the disk and recover my system and information? I looked through the pages of BIOS and does not see a place to set the HARD drive configuration, so I wonder if the system will accept a SSD drive. Thank you for your help.
Yes it's a wide 7 or 9.5 mm thickness of 2.5 inches SSD is a plug-in replacement for the standard hard drive. The motherboard only supports SATA-II speed drives but SSD SATA-III will be backward compatible. The settings of the BIOS already fully support an SSD and Windows 7 and 8 run automatically TRIM to optimize the transfer of data to the SSD. It is really very simple, but you still see a lot of advice floating around days earlier, when he was more difficult. Don't overthink is my best advice. I suggest an Evo to Samsung 840:
http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16820147248
YouTube video for the replacement of the hard disk:
http://www.YouTube.com/watch?v=QQx7PlIXFuE
Not quite precisely your model but close enough to be useful.
You did the recovery HP DVD when the laptop was new? With a failure on the short trial, it is not likely that the drive can be cloned to the SSD DH, but with a usb to SATA Adapter, you can recover some data.
We can connect you to a .iso (disk image) of Windows 7 to your laptop and you can use the drivers from this site. If you can get the C:\swsetup file on the old disk, it has all the drivers and original programs.

HP Pavilion dv6 - 3320st - Smart hard disk error - replacement?
Hello
My laptop is hp pavilion dv6-3320 st and I get smart disk error. I understand that my hard drive is a failure and I need to replace it.
Unfortunately, I do not know how to find a compatible hard drive for my computer.
Here's my computer;
http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c02735818
and the hard drive I think to replace;
http://www.Directron.com/wd7500bpkx.html
Any help will be much appreciated.
Kind regards
Your laptop has a regular 2.5 "SATA hard drive installed.
Any 2.5 "SATA hard drive should work just fine.
The hard drive that you have access to will work fine.
If you do not use a lot of space on the hard disk, I recommend to install an SSD. It is much faster but more expensive.

Internal laptop HP Pavilion dv6-6c53cl - drive Options
Greetings,
I just bought a HP Pavilion dv6-6c53cl Entertainment Notebook PC (Costco), and so far it has been a lot of things. Everything seems to work very well.
Because I do a lot of development in virtual Images, I ran a number of hard factors external to the laptop in the two weeks since I've owned (including an external SSD). All this seems to work well.
But, I was wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to install a second hard drive or SSD in this model of laptop. I saw on the HP site that some laptops allow for the installation of a second hard drive, but I couldn't find any information on this model that would suggest he can handle such a configuration.
My main objective for doing this, it would be to keep the original 1 TB hard supplied with the notebook, but perhaps a DSS secondary drive to run the paging activity from when this type of functionality is necessary when running some of my larger virtual Images.
Any help to clarify whether this is an option with the HP Pavilion dv6-6c53cl would be very much appreciated.
See you soon,.
Wayne

Drive hard failure - where to find recovery discs
I have a HP G60 - 235WM system that comes with having a hard drive failure.
Before the breakup, I tried to create a defined recovery disk but the process
cancelled itself in the middle of the creation of the file. Since then, I've run a system recovery that seemed to work until the second day when on startup, I got the drive imminent failure Prompt and selecting Blons is no not a thing... I bought a new drive, but need to access a set of recovery discs...
Then I bought another laptop with WIN 8.1 - questions
Can I create a set with the 8.1 recovery disk WIN that will allow me to recover the original software Vista system?
or where can I get a Vista system recovery disk?
Note: the failed hard drive can be accessed via the USB port but does not start...
Hello:
You can call HP and see if they have a set of Vista recovery disks for your model.
If this isn't the case, you can get them from this provider on the link below.
http://www.computersurgeons.com/ProductDetails.aspx?ID=13223
You will not be able to use a set of recovery disks you create on a different model PC.

Hi AhmadRJ,
Welcome to the HP Forums!
I would like to take a moment and thank you for using the forum, it's a great place to find answers. You have the best experience in the HP forum, I would like to draw your attention to the Guide of the Forums HP first time here? Learn how to publish and more.
I understand that there is not a graphic driver for the DV6 6190se and Windows 8.
Windows 8 has not been tested on your laptop. This does not mean that it won't work, just that the result is unknown.
Download or update of software and drivers for HP computers
With OEM products, sometimes the drivers are modified to work with a specific system.
This is a driver for Windows 8 that you can try. Sp59383.exe.
I hope it helps.
