Pavilion dv7-3020sa battery overheating

Hello

I was using my laptop from the power of the battery (not connected) earlier and had my laptop just completely stop from what appears to be a lack of power. I don't have a message of warning on the power to be weak so I thought it was a little strange.

I plug it into the sector to pitch up and see the light for the battery charge, come on for a few seconds before turning off again. Again, this is something that doesn't usually happen. When I turn my laptop back I see that I have 14% remaining battery power indicator and it was plugged in, but do not load. If my battery has 14 percent of left power why has it stopped as if it didn't have any power?

Eventually stopped my laptop (although when I lit it back again once, I was to discover, in fact, he had not obtained closure round) turn the power off and remove the battery. I think the battery is quite warm to the touch. I remember rising over a recall program of battery for a laptop of parents so I look for the details, my battery is not on the list, but I could be suffering from similar symptoms. I waited until my battery has cooled before trying to reload again and this time it works fine.

Anyone got any idea as to what could be the problem?

Batteries may become hot during heavy use, cool was the right thing to do. Lion batteries will be will not charge when they reach a certain temperature thanks to internal circuits, it is a safety device.

The recall was for batteries which has experienced extreme overheating thanks to the possibility of an explosion.

Make sure that your windows power option settings for when it is running on battery.

I recently bought a new battery for my laptop and when I plug it, while my charger is plugged, the fan THAT RPM increases as if I use 100% CPU at 100% of RAM. Could it be caused by the new battery?

    I have a hp dv7-3111ea and bought this battery http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/140961851908 .

    Hi @CreaTivEuk,

Thank you for visiting the Forums HP's Support and welcome.  I looked in your question about your HP Pavilion dv7-3111ea Notebook and questions with the new battery. Here is a link to test and calibrate the battery.

Plug the power supply directly to a wall outlet works. Do not connect it a power strip, surge arrester, or secondary power source as this could cause and issue.

The link you sent shows me the correct battery for your HP laptop.

  • HP Pavilion dv7. Primary (internal) (601) battery is low.

HP Pavilion dv7. At startup, the message says that primary (internal) (601) battery charge is low and must be replaced.

The PC works normally on the supply network, so do I really need to replace the battery, being that I still use the PC powered by the power supply.

If I really need to replace the battery, where can I get replacement of and how much will cost replacement?

    Thank you very much

    TC48

    Hello

Just to clarify, the 601 error relates to your main battery of notebooks (not the RTC cell on the system board).

If you are satisfied with the machine running on full power, there is no problem with that and you can just remove the battery.

If you do not want to replace the battery at a certain time, you can order a new through HP parts store or (and), just google the full model number of your laptop dv7 series including the battery of the term.

    Kind regards

    Hello

    Thanks for the reply.

  • HP Pavilion dv7-1245 ca battery internal error 601. How can I change the battery

    Hello

My laptop is a Pavilion dv7-1245.

    HP battery alert-

... your internal battery needs to be replaced...

    Internal battery (601)

Sometimes, I need to start my car.

I bought it two years ago. I just program the hard drive a week ago, causing the original one crashed badly.

Could you please tell me what specific battery should I buy?

I read in another post for the Pavilion dv6 you just need to keep it pluged to replace intyernal battery like in a flaslight. Is it OK for my model?

I would also like to know if the problem to cut down on its own, it is linked with the battery warning or if it is another question.

Please notify. I use my laptop to work ar House, and I can't afford to buy a new one now.

    Hello LisaMarieHarvey,

Looks like you need a battery of RTC. The RTC battery part number is 599516-001 and can be ordered from HP.

Your best option is to pop just the battery (instructions in the service manual below the link to page 56) and carry it with you in a place like Radio Shack and just buy a new one.

  • Power adapter - HP PAVILION DV7-3150EQ

    Hello

I bought the HP PAVILION DV7-3150EQ, and it stops itself almost instantly after the initialization of the operating system (just at the moment where the HP Setup programs starts). I have two suggestions for this topic:

    1. the CPU heats too quickly and the protection of the motherboard turns on and off the computer.

2 in the specification of the product, I noticed the power adapter must have 120 W power (http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01997646), but I received with adapter 90 W (adapter fault current may have been replaced by the Distributor, I don't know), and what I think, is that it does not provide the computer with enough power so it shuts down. What I mean, is there a strict rule on food and their use adapters (specified model should be used with the adapter specified etc..)

Can you guide me I just think, or there might be another problem.

    Hello

    Thanks for the reply erico.

I was looking for an explanation on the closure and the motherboard overheating protection seemed reasonable to me. I was wondering is this a common problem or I am luck one of perhaps hundreds of thousands made notebooks with Core i-5?

I removed the battery and left it on the power adapter, but it's the same thing.

I did not understand you completely clear. You mean that even with less powerful adapter(>120 Watts) the laptop should work well, and the battery should be charged, but for once more. Or should I contact my supplier and only get the right adapter (120 Watts).

    Best regards

Contact your provider and ask so he could be replaced by the model in the specifications of the laptop. The 90 Watt power adapter will work, but this isn't what has been specified to be included in the purchase.

I suggest that you try a hard reset

Remove the battery and the AC adapter.

Press and hold the power adapter for > 15 seconds.

Plug the power adapter (with the battery always off)

    Press the laptop power button.

Your laptop is now boot into Windows?

    If it is not then

Press the power button and press the F8 key to enter the BIOS.

If you are able to enter the BIOS and make the memory test.

Please post your results here in your thread.
