Pavilion dv7, upgrade memory with faster modules

Hello

PC10666 memory modules can be used to upgrade Pavilion dv7 3170em (WC152EA)?

It is currently 2x2gb modules clocked at 533 MHz, will replace the two modules.

I intend to replace them with KINGSTON ValueRAM or Transcend JM1333KSN - 4G 4 GB at 667 MHz modules.

These modules can be used, i.e. they can downlclock at 533 MHz?

TIA,

Davor

In the end, I found 533 MHz modules at a decent price, so I bought two 4 GB G.Skill F3 - 8500 CL 7 modules. Did some burn-in tests, everything works OK.

Kind regards

Davor

    Hello:

Here is the link to the service manual for your laptop.

    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/manualCategory?cc=us&DLC=en&LC=en&product=5218586&

Memory upgrade information and configuration options are in Chapter 1, page 5.

Since your model has a processor AMD, the maximum memory that can be installed is 2 x 4 GB = 8 GB total.

Only models with Intel processors can have 16 GB of installed memory.

I was unable to find guaranteed compatible expansion modules appear to be available to Kingston or Corsair.

Guaranteed compatible using modules in a major memory manufacturer upgrade is the way to go if you want no surprises when you plug new modules. Do not add the new memory module that is already there. Remove the original memory unless you can locate a module that is identical in every respect to be placed in the empty soDIMM slot. You don't have to try to match the specifications of the module of the computer laptop memory published unless you like surprises.

  • HP Pavilion dv7 6053er: problem with AMD graphics card.

Hello. My name is Andriy. I use the HP Pavilion dv7 6053er of 2011 with win 7. I have updated my OS to win 10 in August 2015 and everything was good, but in September, I found a problem that I can't solve.

As you know this laptop has two cards which ATI RADEON 6770 m video and its does not work. For example, in the Device Manager there are two cards:

    1 AMD Radeon HD 6700 M series

    2 Intel HD Graphics 3000

In AMD Catalyst Control Center, I chose in the maximum capacity of all the options, but after I start, for example, Total War: Rome 2 the game see only Intel card. It is the same with windows I can't change the brightness using hotkeys (FN + F2 or F3). Keyboard shortcuts work because I can switch the WiFi, increase/decrease the volume and others.

That's why I even reinstall AMD Catalyst Control Center, but it does not help.

If someone knows how to fix this please help me.

    I have a solution:

It was necesery to delet all software AMD and once mor reinstal AMD Catalyst Control Center after I did this all starts to work normally.

  • can I use my Hp Pavilion DV7 cl 2273 with only an external hard drive?

    HP Pavilion DV7 - 2273cl

    No operating system installed

    No hard drive located

    Bought used

Here's what's happening this laptop, I bought the other day who has no internal hard drive. How can I boot my laptop without a hard drive? Do I need an internal hard drive using my laptop, or could I just use an external hard drive? I don't think I can get on my hard drive they screw appeared to be hitting something I can get loose but not outside.

AY info would be great thank you

Extremely difficult to boot Windows XP from a disk usb external hard and will be extremely slow to use. Instructions to link here , but it seems to be down at the moment.

Impossible for Vista or Windows 7 that I know.

Screws for the cover of the hard drive come all the way, they stay with the cover, after loosening them that coverage will pop out.

  • Pavilion dv7 6c95dx: hardware with built-in microphone and webcam problem

A couple of months, I had someone replace my fan and the heat sink. Since the replacement my integrated webcam and MIC do not work. I tried to uninstall and reinstall the drivers several times. When I go to device management there is no legacy Imaging. If I click on display - display the currencies of imaging equipment shows up, HP Deskjet 2050 j510 series (USB) HP TrueVisionHD (twice) and USB video device. When I click with the button straight on and go in properties on any of them, he said

"Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)

To resolve this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer. »

I think that when my fan has been replaced the webcam/mic cable may have been disconnected or damaged but I don't know what cable it is. Can I disassemble my laptop if I have to, but I don't know where the webcam and microphone are hung and I could not find in a manual or anything.

    Hi @gmurph52 ,

Thank you for visiting the Forums HP's Support and welcome. It's a great site for information and questions. I looked in your question about your HP Pavilion dv7-6c95dx Notebook and questions with the WebCam. Thank you for all the information about what you have tried and what you see in Device Manager. Very useful.

I would like to start by uninstalling the devices listed in your device under imaging devices Manager. Reboot the laptop.

Do you see something new in there?  Here's a document on how to fix the WebCam as the computer sees connected and recognizes it.

Are not, you may have to check the connections. Here is a link to your manual page 30 parts and page 84 of deletion for the location on your laptop.

    I hope this helps.

    Thank you.

  • Pavilion p6608f: upgrade memory for p6608f

Hello, my Pavilion p6608f came with 4 GB of RAM. I want to upgrade. By HP features, the motherboard is a MSI ms-7613 and it should support up to 16 GB of RAM (4 x 4 GB DIMMS). I bought 4 DIMM which seem to fit specifications, but the computer wouldn't POST after installation. I tried reseating the DIMMs, but no luck. My hypothesis is that the memory is not compatible.  I'm unable to find good information on the compatible memory for this computer on the site of Kingston, MSI site, or the site of HP. (Any ideas on one) why the memory I bought is not compatible and b) how to find compatible memory?

    Thank you.
