Business PC HP Elite 8100 SFF: Problem upgrade memory with operating system to 64 b.

I have a small form Factor Business PC HP Compaq 8100 Elite, with 2 GB RAM and Intel Core i5-650 3.2GHz (n ° 2 x 1 GB 240pin DDR3 SDRAM Unbuffered DIMM DDR3-1333 - hynix HMT112U6TFR8C-H9 https://www.skhynix.com/products/computing/view.jsp?info.ramKind=20 & info.serialNo = HMT112U6TFR8C & posM... ) The operating system is Windows 10 to 32 b.

In the reference Guide of hardware for PC installation additional memory is reported:

Additional memory installation

The computer comes with a double speed 3 vivid dynamic synchronous memory (DDR3 - SDRAM) dual inline memory modules (DIMMS).

DIMMs of memory on the system card holders can be filled with up to four standard DIMM in the industry.

These media memory are filled with at least one DIMM preinstalled. To obtain the maximum memory support, you can fill out the card system with up to 16 GB of memory. DIMM DDR3-SDRAM

For the proper functioning of the system, the DDR3-SDRAM DIMM modules must be:

  • ● standard 240 pins of the industry without buffer non-DDR3-1066 MHz compatible or PC3 - 10600 DDR3 - 1333 MHzcompliant
  • Unbuffered ECC PC3-10600 DDR3-1333 MHz-compatible (Z200 SFF only) ● 1.5 volt DDR3-SDRAM DIMM DDR3-SDRAM DIMMS must also:
  • support the latency CASE 7 DDR3 1066 MHz (7-7-7 calendar) and latency CASE 9 DDR3 1333 MHz (9-9-9 calendar) ● JEDEC SPD mandatory information in addition, the computer supports:
  • front and double-sided DIMMs
  • DIMMs built with devices DDR x 8 and x 16; Built with x 4 SDRAM DIMMs are not supported

NOTE: The MFS 8100 supports 512Mbit, 1Gbit and technology memory non - ECC 2 GB.

NOTE: The system will not work properly if you install unsupported DIMM

I replaced the ram 2 with 4 memory 4GB PC3 - 10600 CL9 DIMM 240-PIN - Kingston KVR13N9S8 / 4 http://www.kingston.com/us/memory/search/?partid=kvr13n9s8/4.

The BIOS recognizes correctly the installed memory (16 GB) and in the OS installed memory is 16 GB (3.49 used).

To take full advantage of the installed memory has wanted to update the Windows 10 operating system to 64 b, but the PC goes into continuous reboot.

I've updated the BIOS but the problem remains.

To make full use of the installed memory wanted to update the Windows 10 operating system to 64 b, but the PC goes into continuous reboot.

I've updated the BIOS but the problem remains.

I also tried to install Windows 7 64B, but after loading the files to start the pc freezes

Reinstall the original memory, 10 to 64 b windows installs without problem.

I want to know that is not compatible with the installed memory.

And if it is possible to avoid having to replace.

Thank you and best regards.

@Peppe_Valenza

I'm not surprised by the response of Kingston.  The issue of density memory was mentioned message #2.

Try a few other manufacturers of memory and see if you can get the own memory DIMMs.

Thanks for posting on the forum.

I friend of mine has a desktop HP Elite 8100 SFF with processor i3 with 4 GB of ram was trying to upgrade to windows 7 pro or business pro (if there is a difference) 10 and all the process erased the hard disk windows and windows 10 has not completed the update/install.  There was a problem, but he's not sure what she was.  This attempt was several weeks ago.  After that it wouldn't boot obviously and beep (red light) 5 times in the models.  I think it is a ram problem.  Upgrading windows 10 will cause the ram to go wrong, because he could not bear?  There is also no recovery media for the operating system.  They always make it for this pc?  Thanks in advance.

    Hello:

Windows may not cause the memory to go wrong.

The first thing to do for this problem would be to remove and reconnect firmly all memory modules.

If this fails to solve the problem, remove all modules but one and test each one individually in the black slot nearest the processor.  One causing the PC to 5 beeps is bad and must be replaced.

If this fails to solve the problem, most likely the system board is bad because it is doubtful that all modules of memory could be faulty.

If you live in the USA/Canada, call HP at this number of order recovery media.  Have the serial number of the PC handy to give to the customer service rep.

    old RAM: Samsung M378B5273CH0-CK0

    New RAM: G.SKILL RipJaws X

    PC3-12800 4GBx2

    CL9-9-9-24 1.5V

The Rams are not compatible with the system or are there other factors that could have caused it?

    Claude, welcome to the forum.

Here's Maintenance and Service Manual for the computer.  On Page 94, you will find the section of memory for the computer.  Please read it carefully.  What I've read, only seems to me that the new memory is compatible with the motherboard.  I think that the timings are incorrect.

  • Need help with problems upgrade memory on Pavilion DM4

    I have a Pavilion DM4 1201us with original DDR3 2x2gb memory cards.

I bought a pair of Corsair DDR3 1333 Mhz 4 GB memory cards.

I have the latest BIOS (F.27) and I'm running the OEM Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - Bit. SP1.

The BIOS recognizes the 8 Gb and when I run the BIOS memory test it runs without error.

When I try to boot Win7, it gets somewhere before the logon screen and makes a BSOD with a message about a new memory being installed.

I went back the Corsair Memory cards, but you need to know if there is a problem with any upgrade up to 8 GB of memory with my particular setup. HP offers an upgrade to 8 GB with the same spec boards. (I'm beyond the warranty period!)

    Any thoughtts?

    Interesting!

I can tell you that the model only supports 8 GB memory: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02704310

Have you tried more than one kit of 8 GB?

The reason why I ask is with memory DDR sometimes reticular sticks will pass all the tests if the two sticks are installed then a stick could be bad without you knowledge.

Also you tried a bar of 4 GB and a 2 GB stick to see how it worked?

  • Problems upgrade memory ThinkPad Yoga 11th 20 d 9

I recently bought a 20 d model 9 11th Yoga and so far I'm in love.  However, I wanted to upgrade memory 4 GB to 8 GB.  I bought 8 GB Crucial single DDR3 1600 MT/s (PC3-12800) as all the reviews I read said it was OK to use, however, every time I install the memory, and I try to charge the laptop at the same time it crashes.  I can run windows 10 perfectly without a problem until I have try to load it.  I can load cell ther when the laptop is turned off, but for the life of me I can not do coexist.  The original of the ram, I installed and everything works perfectly.

Even if I'm in the bios, as soon as I plug the charger that will crash the laptop.  There literally rips on the screen and everything vanished.  As soon as I unplug it, the laptop works perfectly.

I went back the memory and got a replacement and it does exactly the same thing.  I've updated the BIOS and the firmware for the battery.  I'm out of ideas.  Any help would be appreciated.

  • XP to 7 upgrade when the operating system is on a disk separate from the data in My Documents. Do I still need to transfer data from my disk storage documents?

So I looked at what it will take to upgrade the system to Windows 7 and it seems that for xp, it's a custom installation.  Since I have my data, music, photos, movies, ect in my documents on a separate disk can I just forget to do the recommended data transfer and do a clean install on the operating system drive?  Of course, I'll have to install programs on it but I'm worried about Windows 7 being able to find the separate disk and re-issue of links so that when I send something to my documents it always goes on this disc.  Worried about problems or suggestions anyone can see that I will meet you.  Thank you

    Hi monty67,

Yes, you will need to perform a custom installation of Windows 7 on Windows XP, operating system, and also you need to reinstall programs work in Windows 7, some programs may not work in Windows 7 due there compatibility with Windows 7.

After I installed Windows 7 on the computer, you can use the external hard drive with no problems, some external disk may required additional drivers to be installed under Windows 7.

See the article below to know the process of custom installation.

  • Make sure you get all your drivers after the upgrade of your operating system

I've seen a lot of post lately in which users try to upgrade their operating systems (Vista-> Windows 7 or Windows 7-> Windows 8).  Often the hardest part of this upgrade is to make sure that you get all of the available drivers and software in order to use the material.

You can always download software and drivers for your laptop computer manually by visiting the HP support Web page and search for your laptop in the product number.  This document shows you how to locate the number for your product.

However, the best way to download and install the software for your laptop is to use HP Support Assistant.  This application comes pre-installed on most computers but portable consumer is likely to be absent after a clean install or upgrade the operating system.  It will search all the drivers and other software that can use your laptop as well as updating existing drivers/software.

I hope that you will find useful information.  Have a great day!

Honestly, it is useless... In late summer, Windows 7 will be eligible for a free upgrade of Windows 10 and Windows 8.1 will be eligible for a free upgrade for Windows 10. If you buy Windows 8.1 now, you pay full price for an operating system you will use only for a couple of months.

Spend money to upgrade your hardware, for example the RAM and possibly install a SSD.

This will make the system runs a lot better when you upgrade to Windows 10. What is the brand and model of your system?

  • Can I install Windows XP first so I can install my upgrade Windows 7 operating system.

    Installation of Windows 7

I had originally bought and downloaded the upgrade of Windows 7.  I am now faced with having to re - install Windows 7 because I'm upgrading to disks.  What I have to install Windows XP, then 7 because I bought the upgrade or there at - it a way to install 7 directly without having to go through the extra step... Thank you!

If your computer comes with a qualifying previous license such as Windows Vista or Windows XP and the certificate of authenticity is still attached to the machine in good condition, then the COST is reason enough to represent the compliance to the software license agreement. No previous required software installation, which means you can do a clean install with Windows 7 Upgrade disk.

How to do a clean install with upgrade disc:

Boot from the Windows 7 DVD

    Click Install now

    Accept the license agreement

When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)

    Click on drive Options

Select the disc/s click on Delete

    Click new

    Click on apply

    Click OK

Click Format, and then click next to proceed with the installation

Skip entering your product key Windows 7 and complete the installation.

When you reach the desktop, click Start, right-click on computer

    Click on properties

Scroll down to the Windows Activation

Click the link x days before activation.

Click on the link that says: "show me other ways to activate.

    Enter the product key

    Click next

Select the Activation of the phone

Click Next when you enter your key page

    Select your country

Click Next, call the number listed

Be sure to explain your situation to the Appeals Officer.

Provide the installation generated when ID requested by the call agent

They give a confirmation ID in return, enter it

Click next to complete the activation.

However, the requirements for the media upgrade is that you have an operating system already eligible such as Windows XP or Vista installed to use it. Since the Windows 7 end user license agreement.

15 UPDATES. To use upgrade software, you must first be licensed for the software that is eligible for the upgrade. After the upgrade, this agreement takes the place of the agreement for the software that you upgraded. After upgrade, you can no longer use the software that you upgraded.

So, if you are always denied, you will just have to reinstall Windows XP or Vista and let it do the verification of eligibility.
