Pavilion DV9500 radiator

I have a pavilion with a processor DVD9500 intel. IM replacing the noisey fan and have stripped the machine down to the heat sink. There are two heat sinks. One for the processor and one for the Nvidia chip above. The radiator for the NVIDIA has a square piece of aluminum foil where it makes contact with the chip. He had no heat on fat. I guess that's deliberate. Should I just put it back the way it is or add thermal paste?

No don't do NOT composed on the skids of money. The money's just frames on a thermal-resistant foam rubber cushion. Repeat: If you let the pads because they DO NOT use thermal paste. Using shims requires the redesign of the heat sink to remove the block that goes on the video chip and its replacement by a solid piece of polished copper exactly the same thickness. Only apply thermal paste to something that is a solid metal.

You have a lot of questions here. Firstly, Yes, the connector of the drive hard eBay is the right and it will work on any SATA including SSD drive. I think the DV9500 and more it is SATA 2 (3 gb/s) interface, but it's not really important. A 60 GB SSD will not be enough space.

HP does not have updates of driver for this machine for quite a while. I wouldn't too much stock in these update pilot programs that you download from the Internet. Indeed, they often contain spyware that could explain why you have high CPU utilization. If you can give me the exact model number or at least tell me if it is an AMD or Intel version we can get better drivers. The pilots of two wholesale to be aware of are the chipset and video drivers. If you have the AMD driver chipset nVidia processor must be specifically responsible. Windows it will not pick up. You definitely need at least 4 GB of RAM, and Yes, you use the DDR2-800 SO-DIMM. Also, you should install 64-bit Windows 7.

Easy to replace. Just return the laptop and look for a screw in the center of the bottom panel. It will have an icon of disk beside him. Remove the screw and slide the drive.

You can find them in the hardware or the computer manufacturer, because it can be a graphic driver problem

Download updates but let me choose whether to install them - if you select this option, Windows will download the updates on your computer, but not install them automatically. If you want to install updates, then you must install them manually. You should only select this option if you have a reason to not install updates automatically. Only advanced users should use this option.

Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them - if you select this option, you'll be alerted when there are new updates available for download and install. You can then choose to download and install the updates that you want. This option should really be reserved for people who know exactly which updates they need, or those who have little access to the Internet.

  • Error 1002 when about to reinstall Vista to new drive hard-pavilion dv9500

    Hey there,

First of all, a bit of background:

    • The computer (HP Pavilion dv9500 17 ") is about 4-5 years.  The warranty expired in 2010.
    • He was sent to HP before (about 2 1/2 years) within the warranty for a faulty NVIDIA card fried its motherboard and working perfectly, given that these parts have been replaced.
    • But lately, some of my files are missing and my computer starts on hibernate on its own and stops unexpectedly.  About two weeks, the hard disk provided with the system (a WD 3200BEVT Scorpio Blue SATA 2.5) began to collide and click on erratic and has not, showing me the 'Operating System' not found error from the start.  I have no reason to believe that this was due to anything other than a hard to die.
    • About three days ago I was able to start upward into the operating system, temporarily, in which I created a set of successful recovery discs using the Manager.  The version of Windows in question is Vista Home Premium 64-bit.  The machine is labeled as Windows 7 compatible.

I bought a hard drive from Amazon, a 5000BPVT WD Scorpio Blue SATA 2.5 and replaced the dead with her.  In the BIOS, the hard drive does not read for errors when pass the diagnostic test.  However, when you run System Recovery Manager, I came across the error 1002 when it is on the third and final drive and getting ready to write to the hard disk.

Now, when I try to retry it, the computer starts and after the F - key option screen it is just blank with a flashing cursor.

From what I've been able to find on the site to other situations similar to mine, I seem to have several possibilities as to why it went wrong.

    • Either my recovery disks are bad because the hard disk on which the recovery partition was conducting at the time of their creation was bad,
    • The recovery discs were bad anyway because the recovery on the partition information has expired long ago,
    • My new hard drive isn't called a DMI utility that is in conflict with its compatibility with my machine, although it is otherwise compatible.
    • Or maybe my computer is old and fecacked and there is nothing that can be done.

As previously mentioned, I'm no longer under warranty.  I've already spent money that I don't have on the new hard drive and now I'm worrying that it was for nothing.  I'm just curious if anyone, having heard my specific situation, can determine the question so I can get my class there.  If it's a question of having to order a new recovery discs, I think I can handle this.  Indeed, if a clean install of Windows would do, my friend has offered me his extra copy of Windows 7 because it turned out she didn't need her.

But if it is this exclusive utility, well, I can't afford the cost for sending to be tattooed out of warranty, and at that time, the question is whether it's just better put into place for a new machine.  Which is a shame because I was really hoping it would last me at least until I have been done with the junior school.  As you can imagine, not having no not my computer heavily paralyzed my ability to handle the six classes and work part-time in the heat of the season of final exams.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Model hard drive is a drive of 'Advanced' Format, you must return it and buying a hard drive that is not the type of advanced format, then recovery should complete without error.

    http://www.wdc.com/global/products/features/?ID=7&language=1

HP recovery disks do not work with the AF disks, recovery fails at the step where he created additional partitions for hp_tools and recovery of partitions because it does not include the hard drives of AF, so he is unable to create or write to these partitions.

  • A hard drive SATA 3.0 GB will work on my HP Pavilion dv9500 Notebook?

My C: drive is dead. Fortunately, it was a 500 GB replacement drive, and I kept the old 160 GB disk that came with the unit. I reinstalled the old drive C: and after some hassles (and 55 Microsoft Updates) it works OK, although slowly.

NewEgg offers a 750 GB drive at 7200 RPM for $109.95 (free delivery). Should be bigger and faster, but it's a SATA 3.0 GB. Now peri drive is a Seagate Momentus 7200.4 500 GB SATA and it worked fine until it didn't. But I don't know if "3.0 GB" is a speed, a boast or maybe a new spec that does not work on my HP Pavilion dv9500 notebook for 3 years.

    Any information will be appreciated!

    Hello

Do not expect a bump of a SATA 3.0 hard drive speed. Disk transfer rates will be limited by the current SATA interface speed in the DV9500. Linear track density (bits per channel) is another factor with a flow of transfer rate.  I used a SATA 3 SSD in my DV9700t and he has added a significant performance improvement.

Bottom line: a SATA II drive can perform as well in your laptop.  If you want more speed, then install a device of solid state (SSD).

You could try a HDD diagnosis to ensure that you do encounter hardware problems.

I realized that I can reuse my connector and caddy but would like to know the steps that I should go through to transfer my oprating system and if the Bios unit supports the SSD.

    Concerning

    Hello

I don't see a problem in using a SATA 3 with your DV9500.  I have used and tested three SSD (Samsung EVO, OCZ Vertex 3 and Crucial C300) on my DV9700.

Back up your data and the external support of HP Recovery allows to recharge the SSD.  The whole process is quite painless.

  • A Pavilion DV9500 will run an SSd?

I would like to add an SSD in the Bay of spare on my DV9658ea Pavilion in the end what makes my boot drive. The Bios will run an SSD Vista and where I can buy the drive connector and caddy for good install disk on the motherboard. (HP spare parts providers charge almost £90.00 for the relevant parts of the owners)

Yes.  You can use an SSD as your boot disk and the secondary drive as a storage device.

You will need a third party software product such as Paragon Drive Copy Pro easily migrate OS to SSD.   Some SSD's come with software cloning exactly for this purpose.

You will need to find your own source online for the carriage of hard drive and cable.  Just do a Google or Bing search for part number and choose a suppplier that suits you. If you are looking for hard you just maybe even backwards [ick a truck being used and cable.]
