Pavilion G: Ralink RT5390 upgrade to 5.0?

Hi, I have a Windows 7 64-bit laptop, which uses the Ralink RT5390 wireless adapter. I'm sure that this adapter supports only 2.4 GHz, but I wonder what are my options to upgrade? Do I need to buy a new laptop for? Or is it an internal or a USB device I can use to pick up the band 5.0?

I ask because this time, my 100 Mbps up/down FiOS is only showing 30mbps on my old laptop, new laptop and cell phone on the network 2.4. But on my new laptop and cell phone, I am able to move to the 5.0 network (Wifi different names for the 2.4 and 5.0) and I get 80-110 Mbps.

I want to change the old laptop to receive Band 5.0 somehow and so to receive the connection Mbit / s 80-110.

Thank you in advance!

Hello

Depending on how the USB wireless card suppliers implement their products. I have no money to buy test them all and 3 of my laptops (HP Elitebook 2740, Dell Latitude E6400 and E6420) oder are all have ac internal adapter.

Kind regards.

  • HP Pavilion g6-1b53ca with wifi Ralink RT5390 will not run on 802.11n

Hello.  Does anyone have any advice for the following?

I have a laptop Pavilion g6 with a b/g/n wifi Ralink RT5390 card.  It works very well with my Linksys WRT54G and GS DD - WRT routers.  I recently got a new Linksys EA2700 with v1.0 of the Linksys firmware.

The laptop again works very well with the Linksys EA2700 as long as it's WPA2 with mixed mode at 2.4 Ghz.  It shows connected to 54Mbps... which is g mode.

Any ideas on why he used to connect fashion n greater speed?  It is only 5 meters and shows an excellent signal strength.  When I change the EA2700 from mixed mode to mode N... The HP error message just says... impossible to connect... the diagsnostics can't find anything.  I have a Samsung wifi phone and there is no connection problems in n to the same router EA2700 mode.

The laptop shows the RALINK RT5390 as with the 3.2.13.0 version in Add/Remove Programs section.  The shows 5.0.9.0 device driver date device driver dated 27/11/2012

Thanks a lot if anyone can make comments.

    Hi, Edward:

Please see if updating the driver to the latest version of help.

    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-127448-1&cc=us&DLC=en&LC=en&OS=4063&product=6521374&sw_lang=

Then go to the Advanced tab for the device in Device Manager and check if there is a bgn mode to select.

It is possible that the pilot, that you have only has an auto or b/g mode.

You can also check first before updating the driver.

You should get 65 to 72 Mbps on the 2.4 GHz band.

The card can receive and transmit on the 5.0 GHz band.

  • The Ralink RT5390 in a Pavilion dm1z wireless card works with WiFi on 5 GHz?

I have a Pavailion dm1z, which uses the Ralink RT5390 wireless card. I have a router dual band with WiFi networks on 2.4 GHZ and 5 GHz. The dm1z is unable to pick up the SSID in the 5 GHz range, it can for the 2.4 GHz band. Is the Ralink RT5390 card dual wireless broadband? Can it captures my 5 GHz wireless network? If this isn't the case, allow new drivers for it? Or the dm1z can be updated to capture the WiFi in the 5 GHz range? What other options I have to do the 5 GHz WiFi?

(5 or 2.4 GHz) USB adapter should work well on the laptop.

  • RALink RT5390 wireless adapter does not work

My g6 pavilion laptop wifi adapter was not properly work recently. my internet router and networking are works well as it should, but whenever I restart my laptop, repeat me that there is no link and no other wifi networks when there are clearly other networks because of my neighbors.

I tried a system restore to solve the problem, but it has no effect and my norton affects the restoration of the system to disable the antivirus.

I'm stuck on ideas to solve this problem and I don't know much about networking and internet stuff, so I'm pretty powerless here

Here is a link to my features of laptops if necessary:

These ralink adapters are simple ol ' sh * t. I don't know if it will be a complete solution for you, but I was pulling with my network card for months and this has proved to be the most effective for my computer. I have a HP Envy luck to be equipped with a Ralink RT3290, Windows 8.

    so...

Out of the box, my computer was working fine and it connected to the network OK. As soon as I moved further away from the router, I known constant dropouts, and the connection always folds between the low signal strength, to completely disconnect the router, where I had to re - connect manually there. This question really frustrating. I use my computer on the top level of my house, and the router is in the basement. If I was getting sick of this fast. Update driver after update driver, no luck. After trying everything under the Sun, I decided I would bite the bullet and I tried something a little bit Orthodox...

I just uninstalled the driver for my computer. Yes, really. When a component on your computer a driver is stripped, Windows software has a few drivers that will install by default for your material so that it can remain functional on your computer. So, once remove the driver ralink on my computer, windows installed sound driver by default for my network card and... Voila! My connection problems are virtually non-existent at this point. The material is not always the best, but at least I can surf the net in my room without my connection affected by constant stalling.

Now, other that the light on the button stuck wireless with an orange glow and list my NIC as #10 Device Manager, I always use this driver with minimum questions. Occasionally, he'll forget the connection once I wake the laptop from sleep, but this issue has been much worse with the ralink drivers than without.

If you are aware of the risk (what is low, to be realistic, this can always be undone and you can always reinstall drivers ralink so that deosn proved to be an effective solution), I will explain in detail how I managed to do.

    (1) open Device Manager (right click the lower left corner in windows 8 and a shortcut appears in the drop-down below)

    (2) find network adapters and display its contents

    (3) make a right click on your wireless network adapter (should be something similar to "Ralink RT5390 802.11b/g/n... ") and click on"Uninstall"in the menu drop-down

    (4) a popup should appear and you should be given the possibility to uninstall or cancel it. Make sure you check "suppression software driver for this device" until you go forward, or Windows re - install the ralink driver.

-Search for new hardware if your network card is not detected after you have uninstalled it. Your card should appear as "802.11n Wireless LAN card"

-If you have an installer driver ralink that is newer or equal to the driver that is already installed, you can run the Setup program to remove any driver software remains which is usually overlooked by the device during the uninstallation Manager there from your computer

-As an option, you can check potential driver leftover files C:\Windows\System32\Drivers. It is important to search for remains that Device Manager / ralink Installer may have missed because it can potentially conflict with the replacement of windows WLAN driver. pilots should have a short name for your adapter (e.g. rt3298.sys); they shouldn't be hard to find. Be careful as well; IT IS WISE TO ALWAYS SAVE no matter WHAT DRIVER SOFTWARE, YOU CAN REMOVE in CASE YOU MAKE a MISTAKE.

    (5) re - enter your information network and you should be good to go!

I hope that it is of no help to you. People who know nothing about what they will tell you to install the latest driver and yatta yatta yatta this way, because it does not work I had to take the liberty to try to find a solution for these adapters cursed myself. I hope this helps a bit your question!

  • Ralink RT5390 wireless issues

Hello everyone, I currently have the HP Pavilion dv6 - product number: A1T75UA #ABA and I have a horrible experience with her. I thought it was a router problem, but even in my classes I have problems with the speed on this laptop, I took my lenovo and my toshiba and had no problem at home or at school. I just got the latest driver update for Ralink RT5390 802.11b/g/n WiFi card, conducted an audit of network using hp support and have 88% in my room (about 40 ft away from the router) and an internet connection of 50 M that speed checks to approximately 48.3 on a bad day. I ran diagnosis just well with no success except that say he doesn't know what under its weight and explore additional options. Now that being said, is there anything anyone can suggest? I have the cisco E1000 on a N signal with transfer notes up to 54 M, and I'm really about to cry because I can't play games on other mobile phones. Also, I will try to uninstall and reinstall the driver, and you updated but thank you for advances for support.

Well well, after uninstalling the driver and put it back and restart the laptop, he has still not set, so what I did was went in my modem options, which I'm currently have two, the Cisco DPC 3925 and put these settings in the name/password custom on a WPA2 - TKIP + AES and automatic for transmission note instead of 11 and that we fixed. And now where my room is to, I ran and bought some RJ-45 and a few plugs and ran into my house to another router, my E1000 and set up like the Transmission rate as 11, WPA2 - AES (only) and if I'm not surprised at 100%, it worked. Now the problem would be solved now in school after possibly being updated my driver? (It looks that had the question)

This is a power supply that will work for you:

It is modular allowing you to use only the necessary cables.  This means that there is more room inside the circulation of air.  He is also a 600W which will give you extra power for the possible future upgrades.  Any block of power SUPPLY Corsair will be good.  They are fans of the quality products for a reasonable price.

  • The low signal strength with Ralink RT5390 on HP Dv6

I have two other laptops HP which connect to my wireless router, both have a signal strength 3-4 bar using Intel 5100 and 5300 AGN wireless cards.

My dv6-6145dx has a Ralink RT5390 and gets only 2-3 bars, but mostly just 2.  I use the laptop in the same place as the others and even tried to move get a signal louder, but nothing has worked.

I googled and it seems that the RT5390 had some problems like this.  I'm now thinking that maybe I should buy a wireless card replacement.  Intel made half wireless pci-e cards, but I have no idea if they are supported. Should I get the Atheros?

EDIT: for anyone suffering from slow response of Ralink RT5390 in their computer HP laptop, definitely try the latest pack of driver software from the HP Business Center.  I installed it on my computer and it has greatly improved responsiveness.  It is still not a great card, but at least I'm able to use it now without feeling like I'm on a dial-up connection!

  • RALink RT5390 802.11/b/g/n WiFi adapter 5.0 ghz problem

I have a laptop DV7 - 6113cl. It has a Ralink RT5390 802.11/b/g/n WiFi adapter and I can't connect to my wifi 5.0 ghz router. I can only connect to my 2.4 ghz router, the router is an Asus RT-N56U Dual Band router 802. 11 g/b/n /.

    The 2.4 ghz is 802. 11 g/b

    the 5.0 ghz is 802.11 n/a.

Please help me, I need to connect to the 5.0 ghz because the 2.4 ghz signal is only 1 bar if im in my room.

Ralink RT5390 is 2.4 GHz only.

Try to move your router or by assigning a different channel.

Banhien is only partially correct. While 802. 11A works on 5 GHz, you have reason to believe that 802.11n can do 2,4 or 5.

  • HP Pavilion laptop g6 with Ralink RT5390 & wifi does not work when EA2700 is in mode n only 2.4 Ghz

Thanks for a response. However my problem was that the rt5390 of Ralink just wouldn't connect when the only n mode is used on the EA2700. I have another tip offering find the latest compatible ralink driver who turned out be 5.0.37.0 for a newer model of hp laptop. Install this instantly solved the problem.

I think, with all the layoffs at HP, they no longer update their pages of driver for out of warranty 2 years, computers with the latest drivers. That came as a total surprise. I should have better.

This computer has an integrated Ralink RT-5390 mini-map PCIe wireless.
    http://www.MediaTek.com/en/products/connectivity/WiFi/PC/PCIe/rt5390/
This card is the only ONE BAND (2.4 GHz), supporting IEEE 802. 11 b, g and n

IF you wish for the 5 GHz band,
THEN BOTH devices must support the new IEEE 802.11ac Standard Dual-Band.

FIRST, a wireless (WAP) access port or Wireless Router on your home network must be Dual-Band (IEEE 802.11ac).

IF this equipment is provided (for rent) your provider of wireless Internet (ISP).
THEN, you will need to work with them for this upgrade (may have fees $$).
IF you have your wireless router, THEN it must support IEEE 802.11ac for the 5 GHz band.

SECONDLY, your HP Pavilion 20-b010 all-in-One will require a new (replacement) wireless card and MAY require the replacement of the antenna (dual-band).

The AC-7260 Intel Dual-Band with Bluetooth 4.0 is a topic highly IEEE 802.11ac compliant PCIe minicards.
IF you only had previously not supported Bluetooth, THEN this additional feature is a BONUS.

If the driver above does not work, the most likely problem is the hardware revision RT3090 of the card you have is probably too old to run W10.

Only the last model rt3090 made in the last two years will take place W10.
