  Before you begin, note that the FAT32 file system has size limitations. You cannot create a FAT32 partition greater than 32 gigabytes (GB). In addition, you cannot store a file greater than 4 GB on a FAT32 partition. If the partition you want to format is larger than 32 GB, NTFS format may be a better option.

• Tecra S3 - impossible to duplicate the HARD disk of larger HARD drive

  I have a new Toshiba Tecra S3, I bought one a few years ago with a 100gig hdd.
  I'm running out of room and wanted to move to a larger capacity drive.

  I bought a WD 400 GB sata 5400 RPM and the Appricon Easygig 2 cloning software and the USB universal drive adapter.
  My first attempt I used the default settings and cloning went without problem, but the player does not start. I get the blue screen with an error message.

  I tried cloning with accurate corresponding partitions, same result.
  I tried to use the digital software West, the same results.
  I tried the Acronis software with all the different options, the same results.

  Given that my laptop came with the hidden recovery partition I don't have the original Windows XP pro disk, so I borrow one from a friend and tried to use the recovery of windows on the new drive I just cloned and could not find the hard drive at all.

  I suspect it has something to do with the RAID drivers, but I don't what to do at this point if it is.
  I don't want to start from scratch, I want just all what I have on my 100 GB to my 400GB clone.

  Interestingly, I have used the Appricon method on other SATA improvements on other laptops completely successful, but this Toshiba has me out of resources.

  Does anyone out there have a solution to my problem?

  Garret is right to integrate the RAID driver software Acronis.

  Therefore, you should use BartPE (http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/).

  I'm going through a gateway with xp adding purched proessional xp home. The hard drive has been formatted before the upgrade.  When I get the xp professional product key I get an error message indicating the product key is not valid.  The product key, as I enter corresponds to the product key in the business directory to the i386/unatended.txt xp CD.

  2. what type of Windows XP Professional CD? It of an upgrade or clean installation CD?

  As you have formatted the hard disk, you can perform a clean install will impose you an operating system available on the computer to perform an installation upgrade.

  You cannot use the upgrade product key to perform a clean installation.

They are the main with the system OS etc. files partition, then an extended 9.7 GB partition labeled volume D: 98 GB of unallocated space and then finally the OEM with the recovery image section. I want to create a partition that is important as the C: volume with all that on it. The only other partition would be the volume of the OEM. Now when I try to use the unallocated space (create a simple volume with quick format) it says the operation cannot be completed because there is not enough space on the hard drive; that cannot be true because the unallocated space is 98 GB +. I got the OS to the factory setting thinking that it would be re - format the hard disk for the installation of 2 original score. No luck. I need help! We cannot add a lot of apps of software in the form of program files before the C: drive runs out of space. Help!

  There are many ways to format the hard drive. You did not really provide details...

  You can download the Ultimate Boot CD (UBCD) and burn it to a CD, then you can boot from the CD and use the tools of HARD drive to remove the partitions/erase the hard drive.

  I remember you said something about Norton does not fully with upgrades. So I removed Norton System and replaced with Security Essentials and all worked fine for 4 weeks now underway.

  Your help so greatly appreciated. Ironically, according to my friends, they have been seen ice problems and I told her about Norton and upgrade system I have. Seems that they had upgraded from Vista to XP. They have deleted Norton and installed another security system and all is well.

• Satellite P30: How to format the HARD drive and install a new OS?

  I have a satellite P30 laptop with Windows XP. I plug myself a new OS (namely because I can't find my old recovery CD CD and OS) that I want to do a re-shape full of my system. Reason is that my system has been painfully slower and slower over the last year. I even updated my RAM to 512 MB standard supplied with the machine to 2 GB, but it seems to have had little or no effect. So my questions are:-

  The restore CD contains all Toshiba drivers, tools and utilities Windows OS + additional software like Win DVD for example.
  The installation will set the laptop to factory settings, but will also format the HARD drive!

  If you have purchased a second HDD and connect it to the USB port and transfer all the necessary files on the second HDD

  You cannot format the HARD C drive because the operating system is running on this HARD drive.
  What you can do is to use the 3rd party software that creates the partitions on the HARD disk on the system running. I use partition Magic 8 to create and manage partitions.
