  Given that my laptop came with the hidden recovery partition I don't have the original Windows XP pro disk, so I borrow one from a friend and tried to use the recovery of windows on the new drive I just cloned and could not find the hard drive at all.

  I suspect it has something to do with the RAID drivers, but I don't what to do at this point if it is.
  I don't want to start from scratch, I want just all what I have on my 100 GB to my 400GB clone.

  Interestingly, I have used the Appricon method on other SATA improvements on other laptops completely successful, but this Toshiba has me out of resources.

  You can refuse to accept it, but if Diskpart--> List volume or drive list does not see the drive when the data and power connectors are active, then the disk controller has not.  The hard drive is the material of the trash. Replace it with another new hard drive.

  You said that the hard drives are sata but your bios recognizes them as IDE depending on your position. You might have to set your bios to operate in sata mode or enable AHCI of have recognized them as sata. Regarding the error you get, look in the system BIOS to boot from hard disk command menu. This is different from the command menu of usual starting where you choose each time you start a cd ROM or hard drive ect... The parameter that I refer to determine which hard drive of your computer starts on the first. Change to the primary master 500 GB disk > save your settings and restart your computer.
