Pavilion G6-2200sw: [Pavilion G6-2200sw - Poland] replacement hard drive = no recovery partition (no CD rec.)

A has a problem. I had to replace HD in my Pavilion G6-2200sw (bought in Poland). I don't have a recovery disc.

Is there any place where I can download it?

Or how do I check the product key and the version of the system with which the laptop was bought?

If you have a dvd of Windows 8 you should be able to install it and key is retrieved from the BIOS to activate automatically.

  • HP Pavilion Slimline S5-1224 replace hard drive

Have a Slimline S5-1224 which has a hard drive problem.  The drive is a Seagate 1 TB making a rattling noise when you restart.  Past experience tells me the drive is about to fail and execution of diagnostic tests has confirmed.  My question is it would be better to clone the old disk (if it still works) to the new?  Or I can use the recovery disks that I did when I bought the computer.  Thank you.

    Hello

    NTFS will be used.

On the new PC comes with Windows 8 and UEFI, then secure startup is enabled and the hard drive is in the GPT format.

  • HP Pavilion 17: mouse pad does not work after replacing hard drive

    Hello

After replacing hard drive and installing windows 8.1, I can't use my mouse pad.

I installed the Synaptics driver but it didn't help.

How can I check that mousepad device is not damaged when replacing the hard drive and which also can I try to fix the mouse pad?

    USB mouse works fine.

    See you soon

The only way to be sure is to open it up and see if the touchpad cable was disconnected during the upgrade of the hard drive. That's my bet. Easy to forget when you're winding. You don't provide complete model number, but many of the recent models Pavilion 17 require removal of the cover together to get hard disk that requires disconnection of the touchpad cable.

  • Pavilion HPE H8-1234: what hard drive to replace current for Pavilion H8-1234

The hard drive I have now is HDS721010CLA630 SCSI Disk Device with 1 TB.  This is bad.

I know its SATA 7200 rpw, NTFS but otherwise unknown and I'm not a computer geek. Using Win 7 Pro 64 bit

I use Carbonite reflection WD 4 TB my book external hard drive and my current hard drive (going bad) is now imaged. I was told the new replacement hard drive should be similar, a little bigger is ok, but cannot change otherwise the card mother or any other pilots, summer, etc or the restore image will not work.

What features of hard drive do I buy that resemble what is the system now? The new hard disk can be bigger (2 TB would be great), but most of another must be similar to the mirror image can be used to restore as well as Win 7 Pro and Outlook 7 configurations and all to a new internal hard drive.

Western Digital, Seagate seem reliable, but I'm unable to understand other descriptions such as sata 3.0 vs 6.0, red, black, cache memory 64 MB instead of 32 MB whatever that means? What should I choose?

Any thoughts on what kind of buy that is compatible with the motherboard and others on my system would be very welcome!

    Thank you very much!

    Hello.

On descriptions of hard drives, HARD drive cache refers to the amount of data, the drive is able to get ready for treatment. Essentially the more Mo - better, but as Big_Dave says:

«the performance between a cache 32 MB or 64 MB would be negligible unless your PC is running an interactive application of DB.»

SATA is a computer bus interface that is a standard for connecting hard drives in the computer systems. There are three types that are retro-compatible and have different transfer rates - SATA I is 1.5 Gb/s, SATA II 3.0 Gb/s and SATA III is 6.0 GB/s.

Regarding the colours of WD, each player has a build-in features specific which makes it good for different purposes. So according to what you are going to do the HARD drive, I recommend a different color.

For example, WD Blue is a regular daily reader that is most commonly used for ordinary calculation, workloads and play of light and combined with SSD. He is quite able to run most of the games as well as many programs for editing or programming. http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?ID=S7uxm7

WD Green is your energy-efficient drive that works cool, calm, and saves a lot of energy. It is designed for secondary storage and backups, and these characteristics allow it to be an excellent choice for quiet versions of backup or archiving. http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?ID=iTh9tK

WD Black is the record of performance of the consumer of WD. It is the fastest among them and has a built-in dual-core CPU that makes the ideal player for multitasking. It is designed for heavy games, large workloads and the intensive use of file. http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?ID=hSoUcT

Hope this helps, and feel free to ask any questions you may have.

    See you soon!

  • Pavilion zv5000 - IDE adapter for HARD drive?

I have a Pavilion zv5000 series portable whose hard drive died several years ago. My father sent him to a work friend, who understood that it was the HARD drive, and I guess that he threw the car with an adapter with it. I got an IDE drive, foolishly, assuming that the pins on the drive just fit into the connector on the laptop itself. After a lot of confusion as to why the player wouldn't be good, a research showed a card equipped with a regular at one end IDE connector and a connector similar to that on the laptop on the other. I ask if it is true that I need one, even if I do not otherwise so that it connects.

Also, nines are isolated from the main pins on the drive. The old connector Molex had also four pins. These are the power pins, and the adapter address these too? It doesn't seem to be any other connector on the laptop. Once again, I want to just confirm this and no I have to not just buy the wrong thing for this laptop.

Therefore the adapter that I'm looking for?

Yes, I used to own a zv5000 and I can confirm there was a plastic connector black who went on the IDE brass pins on the hard drive to allow the connection to the motherboard.

    This is what you need:

Yes. Unfortunately, the hard drive failed. Use this ID to failure when you contact HP warranty service

If your laptop is still under warranty, then the replacement hard drive is free of charge for you.

  • Windows 7 Windows update does not work after replacing hard drive

Win7 Home Premium and HP Pavilion DV6-2150US.  Failed hard drive.  I bought a Seagate 500 GB replacement (original drive was 250 GB) and used my purchased HP re - install DVD to re - build Windows and reinstall the OEM software on the new hard drive.

Everything starts fine, but he won't deal of Windows updates (. e. is a big red X on the screen of windows update).  I tried Microsoft "Mr Fix it" download - but it error and none of the other suggestions Microsoft not work either.  When I had the chance to talk with a MS tech support person, she suggested that somehow windows on the new drive is not authentic, etc...  Although windows on the new drive hard indicates that its active and authentic... is there some kind of checking a number of the hard disk 'really' activate windows?

Just to make sure that my reinstall was not corrupt, I deleted the new hard drive and began in everywhere... I have the exact same result... it boots fine, but will not update through windows update.  The only other change to the laptop was that I had better buy double the memory to 8 of 4 when I bought 2 years ago... once again, do not know if there is a kind of material exchange limitation before disabling the windows software.

Help, please!  I'm really stuck.  THX JimmyC

Thanks for your post... I solved my problem by installing the update driver Intel rapid storage through this link:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c02219204

I suppose that as long as the hard drive is lower 250Gig you need not the new driver.  But when I replaced my hard drive failed with a disc 500gig hard - when I did restore HP to Win7 and the OEM software from the dvd, I bought - it put the storage driver original in Win7 - which works very well with a 250 GB drive, but causes the windows update doesn't work is not for readers more than 250gig.   When I installed the driver from the link above file, Windows Update started working - and you can imagine there are many, many fixes since my PC has been restored to original Win7 - doesn't not even Win 7 SP1.

I hope it helps someone else... thank you for your message.  JimmyC

  • Replace hard drive SSD

I have a 15 inch macbook pro late 2008.This came with a 250 GB hard drive that I partitioned

two areas of 125 GB that appear as separate HD1 and HD2 hard drives on my desktop. I have OSX 10.5.11

the HD1 and the last OSX El Capitan on HD2. According to what I want to do I can boot from either HD

and so each OS. I want to replace my original with a SSD hard drive. The little material is quite simple

but I want to retain the same configuration on disk partitions, i.e. 2 new with OS on each different

and all applications and files for each. Basically an exact copy of the original disc.

I have free external USB and FireWire HDs and a copy of Super Duper. How can I go about it?

Use a utility like SuperDupercloning or double clone. Clone your original drive on another external drive firewire is bootable.

Then after installing the new disk, boot from the clone and clone for the new SSD.

  • A100 replacement hard drive

I saw the other posts on this but no definitive answer.
My HARD drive is dying and needs to be replaced. I see the posotion from the LHS is under the Palm drive and there seems to be one removable flap - other posts say there is only one screw to remove, but there is no visible screws under the machine.

I've changed hard disks on other Toshibas with absolutetly no problem - someone at - it ideas?

    Hello

Replace HARD drive on this laptop is not simply the procedure. I'm not 100% sure, but the entire Palm rest/Touchpad should be removed first. HARD drive cover is fixed with a screw, but you'll see him only if the Palm is deleted.

When this screw is removed, hold the HARD drive tab and pull the HARD drive bracket. Next step is to detach the HARD drive from the HARD drive support.
The device is quite new and first of all, check if the warranty is still valid.

It is not so easy to change the HARD drive on this model.
You have to remove many parts like keyboard, screen, cover and screw a lot.
It's a little tricky, so you should have experience with this.

As Akuma, go to a local ASP (authorized service provider) has said. They can help you replace the HARD drive.

  • Satellite L300D-10 q recovery DVD Can be used on the replacement hard drive?

    Hello

I was wondering if the DVD Recovery allows to install Vista on a replacement hard drive? The original hard drive is too small at 160 GB contain all the files that I use the virtual operating system image. The disk hard 500 GB of replacement must be large enough for that.

The reason why I need to Vista, it's that the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Ubuntu 8.04.1 and 8.10, cause the fan to run at full speed all the time which is very annoying. So for the moment I can only use Linux in a virtual machine.

I intend to stay with Toshiba, though, as my two latest portable Toshiba Satellite a PII and a PIII still work today, and both have had Linux on them.

Now, back to my story, I intend to remove the existing laptop, hard drive use DVD recovery to install to external USB 500 GB disk, replace the existing hard drive in starting up the laptop from the USB and copy my data overall. Before you reformat the old drive as external storage, I will replace in the laptop with 500 GB drive and the test so I can boot from the new drive.

Key question will be the change of equipment, i.e. the new hard disk of 500 GB prevent Vista to install or activate?

    Thank you very much

Vista itself can handle huge HARD drive sizes, but the question is: the recovery disc will be happy with 500 GB? The laptop will recognize 500 GB?

I think it will work very well, because the new laptops are released with 320 HARD drive. 500 GB is not far.

Its a few trial and error unless anyone here has tested a disc 500 GB HARD themselves.
