  • Pavilion a1130n block of POWER LED flashes when it is connected to the mobo

We had a power outage and now PC won't start at all and power and power supply lights both blink.  I went through the list of power supply.  When everything is unplugged PSU led remains lit.  When I plug in the mobo light starts flashing again.

On another forum, someone suggested clearing CMOS as check/solution possible, but I've seen suggested once on all of the controls/solutions out there.

Should I try clearing CMOS or who would really do something to help here?

Also, I am trying to determine the most cost-effective path of repair/replacement.  The main consideration for me is software and data on the hard drive, I would really like.  I know that the machine is old so I'm thinking the mobo may need to be upgraded in any case of 6 years and the PSU, should probably due to his age and the likelihood it will fail before too long.

    Any guidance is appreciated.

lardfw wrote: I deleted CMOS (using the pull method) and there is no change. Well, I understand that it was a long shot. I followed the checklist (do not skip steps).  I was a little fuzzy on the checklist is should I go ahead and take memory cards and disconnect the headset, microphone, usb ports, etc to the MoBo? During the only thing connected to the PSU is the MoBo.  Nothing connected to the PSU = green fixed.  Connected to the power supply flashing green = MoBo. So my concern is passed: the hell of the MoBo or PSU is (because I'm buddy up to the idea that it is).  in order to use the hard drive in a new configuration (specifically the software and data on the hard drive).

Hello lardfw, with nothing connected to the motherboard and you try to start the system, if the motherboard was not defective, with the power supply work as it should, you get all kinds of sound signals, especially when the memory is removed.

I'm sure that the motherboard has failed. You should be able to remove the hard drive and install it into another system such as a secondary drive and not the bootable disc and be able to copy some files from the hard drive. You would not be able to access the applications.

Once you have recovered all the data you may be, you could then reformat the hard drive and use the total capacity of the disk as a backup, or even use it as a bootable stick with a new operating system installation.

  • HP Pavilion 500-550nv: the upgrade of power

Hello. I have HP Pavilion 500-550nv (in which case is microtour format) and want to upgrade my HP power which is only 180 W!

I want to know what brand of food is supported for my pc model (hp pavilion 500-550nv) and how much wattage recommended (up to 600? up to 650?). Which is the recommended limit of power supply of power for my HP?

I'm waiting for your answers. Thank you

    Hello @jeandoumpier,

Thank you for visiting the Forums from the HP Support! The forums are a great place where you can find solutions for your problems, with the help of the community!

I read your post on food and wanted to help you!  I understand that you are concerned about upgrade options.

You should be able to improve the power you want.  The Office should take but a lot of power, it must, food that is installed.  Just check that the power supply to use, firmly enters the tower.  Based on the Specifications of the product, you can find the dimensions tour here:

    • Height: 36.7 cm (14,48 in.) unpacked

    • Width: 17.5 cm (6.91 inches) unpacked

    • Length: 38.9 cm (15.35 inches) unpacked

  • Can I put the Pavilion Slimline 180 Watt power supply to a 300 Watt PSU

    Of course, you can!

Here is an informational videoabout the possibilities of upgrading your slimline WHAT PSU found on YouTube.  A comparison of three power supplies, including the owner HP PSU and a (two video and CPU) stress test and comparison of noise is shown during the video.

Be aware that some, but not all, of the PSU, upgrades require a simple and light your PSU slimline support change. Change depends on the power supply model chosen for the upgrade.

Purchase an adaptor molex as HP UPE is necessary for the Slimlines using a power supply with the format owners microfit ATX 24 pin, as well as the standard for the HTPC power supply ATX 20 pin format.

Upgrade your power supply at a higher power will not damage your motherboard. A power supply will provide only so much power that is required of him by the mother and peripheral card up to the nominal power of the installed PSU.

It is for those who wondered how to work around the limitation of the low power 180 Watt power supply that most Pavilion Slimline PCs come with the Assembly. With a power SUPPLY improved, more memory and a graphics card discrete, including support (it is a requirement) your Slimline can be your gaming PC.

Selecting a graphics card is another topic. Not all graphics cards can hold in the case of a slimline. It takes a low profile video card. They are available for purchase online.

  • Pavilion m6 - stop suddenly and mystery of the power cord

    Hi people,

I got a very strange problem with my laptop from m6-1035dx Pavilion the past two days. This is a reconditioned unit and have had some problems with it in the past (both hardware and software-related) that I managed to fix me, but this one left me speechless.

It started yesterday when the computer was placed on a bed (with a CoolerMaster pad below, which I almost never separate the portable device) and immediately turn off the power. In the past, I had problems with heat stops, that I solved with a bit of air in canned and CoolerMaster pad said, so I don't think much. But the same thing happened today, and I noticed that when it has restarted, it does not recognize the fact that the computer is plugged in. Unplugged the cord/AC converter to three points (computer, converter, wall) and tried again, still nothing. Tried another outlet, blew the vents, power off and removed/re-inserted battery, still no recognition of the power. I reinstalled HP CoolSense (which I had removed several months before) and hope that would take care of things. Meanwhile, I shut the computer off again, and the LED power indicator lit on its own.

Several hours later, the computer was reactivated and placed on a flat surface. Someone tripping over the cord, and the computer turns off again. The LED power indicator is out once more, so I unplugged the power cord and left for a few minutes. Blocked again, and the power was back.

I am reasonably confident that I should replace the power cord at this point, but I want expert advice before I commit the money that him. It may also be interesting to note that while the power cord did not work, the battery (92%) had about two hours and six minutes of use remaining, which is well below the advertised battery capacity (to be noted that only Chrome was running at the time) and what I saw of the battery in the past. I think that the cable or converter can be shorted, then is it safe to use the computer at all? Wouldn't be a good idea to replace the battery as well? I will provide any other details if necessary and thank you in advance for any help or advice.

    Hi maestro35,

Welcome to the HP Support Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the Forums of HP, I would like to draw your attention to the Guide of the Forums HP first time here? Learn how to publish and more.

I understand that you are having feeding problems with your Pavilion m6. I'll be happy to help you with this. If it is running with the battery, I wouldn't worry about the replacement of the battery quite yet. As for the fact that it gives you less time announced that it could be the mere fact that the battery life decreases over time. You don't mention your operating system, this is why I have included two links below which will allow you to test and calibrate the battery. This will confirm that the battery is working properly.

Test and calibrate the battery (Windows 7)

Test and calibrate the battery (Windows 8)

I agree that it appears as if the power cord is the question. If you have a similar cord, you might give it a try to see, but there's a chance it might be the prospects of power supply for laptop. If something is shorted, then you shouldn't really use the laptop but without testing actually physically we will not be able to determine if something is put in short circuit.

    Thank you

  • I have a Pavilion Elite M9150F and it seems that the ignition button does not work. The power light is on

My Pavilion Elite M9150F P/N KC880AA-ABA running Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit. The device turns on no switch or remote control. He lite is turned on and power is running through the unit until button (checked through AC voltage detector) are there known issues with these? Are there spare parts? It doesn't hang or move the last time it was turned on. What are my options? Thanks for any help.

    Hello cello6996

You are in warranty? If so, I would suggest contacting HP. If you are out of warranty, follow the steps below.

How does a power button is essentially that it shorts two special pins. This short film is a signal to the power on the power supply and all components. A quick Google search reveals the most common method to do this is to disconnect the wires to the pins on the motherboard power button and then tap a screwdriver against just these two pins. Use gloves as a precaution. or a screwdriver with an insulated handle.
How to bypass the power on button on pc
Is there a way to bypass the power switch?

If the computer starts correctly something wrong with the power button. If the problem persists, it is more than likely a problem with one of the hardware components and the problem will have to be isolated further. Let me know what happens.

  • Trying to find the plug and the power upgrade in a HP Pavilion Elite m9177c

First time posting here so I hope I chose the right place for my question.

I currently have a HP Pavilion Elite m9177c as a tempoarily computer until I can build my own. He was works fine but I found that this computer for all its good specs has only a 8500GT no idea why parent obtained through costco and gave it to use when my dell power supply gone bad and must be replaced.

So I chose an EVGA 9800 GT

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16814130534

But I discovered that my HP probably has just one power 350 watts (checked online still need to open the case to be exact, before buying it) while the card requires 400 watts accoring to the details.

I tried to call HP support for dimensions and wattage supply type, but it was a chore. One guy said all the power supplies have the same size (maybe he meant the hp ones for my computer, but he never said so), another guy told me that without a guarantee that he could not even tell me the power and the third Lady said my dimensions are 9.6 inches by 9.6 inches or 24 centimeters. (do not know if she was trying to give me a microatx measure and I misunderstood the 3 as a 9 or what.) And the first guy claims it was a micro-ATX Power Supply, while the other comes from say atx.

So after some googling I found these links

    1. http://www.censuspc.com/HP-Hewlett-Packard-5188-2859-350-Watt-SIRAH-350-Replacement-Desktop-PC-Power... - this seems to be what I have but he calls it the ATX 12v version

2.http://www.911forpcs.com/5188-2859.html - this seems to be something I could go too, but I don't know if I might be better off with a full-on name brand like Corsair.

3.http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01736200 - this is a different model of Pavilion Elite but so far it looks like mine how. The same video, for some reason any does not exist on the page for my model.

I found two feeds that seem to fit the same dimensions as in link #1, but a larger 0.1 inch on a measure, but I hope that my hp case allows a slight wiggleroom.

    1. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139028 - a 600 watt Corsair

    2. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817153151 - a 530 Watt Thermaltake

Was just curious to know if anyone has better info on what exactly is in my case, and what is the best food to buy. I still intend opening the case before buying but just moved and such and call help tech kind of wore out me. I wanted to anyway just say that the computer has been much less the thing of the graphics card. Thank you

    Hello

Type HP power supply (PSU) dimensions for cabinets mid-turn are: 5.9 by 3.4 by 5.5 inches.  If you get a power supply that is longer you might have problems of space between the PSU and the optical drives.  In addition, there are a stabilizing latch that cannot secure the PSU of stirring. This is a minor issue you should aware of your PC should be buy a power supply which is longer than the typical POWER HP block.

The Corsair and both Thermaltake excellent food.  I would give the go-ahead for the CX600 Corsair ($50 after rebate) based on the cost, the total power available and the efficiency rating.

This power supply is typical for your PC based on the part number indicated by HP PartSurfer.

  • Replacing the power supply on a HP Pavilion P6000

Outputs video (DVI and VGA) were both released on my motherboard. Rather than go through the hassle of dealing with Microsoft if I had to replace the MB, I decided to install a MSI Geforce 210 graphics card and the existing PCI express slot. However, the existing power is rated at 250 watts and the new video card got a minimum rating of 300 watts. It seems to work, and I don't do any high-end graphics or game. My main uses of the PC are paying bill online, e-mail and a few online forums. Should I replace the power supply with a higher nominal? I have a Hiper Type R PSU which is estimated at 580 watts and was planning to replace it with the 250, but it looks like not her suits because it is deeper than the power installed about half an inch. The deeper power looks like it should stick on a half inch at the rear of the computer when it is against the stop before power in the case. I would like to have some advice on the use of the existing offer or be able to use my power Hiper 580.

The HP Pavilion P6617C model, which is the number of product BT427AAR developed a standard ATX size power supply. Dimensions (as you know) are 5.9 "x 3.4" on the back and depth 5.5"in the case. The small metal latch/stop button to slide the power supply existing forwards (for removal). There really is no support.

4 rear mounting screws fix the power supply of the Cabinet. Of concern would be the length, an added 0.7 ", as well as cables/connectors.  You can try the Hiper in the case, and if it fits, OK. Otherwise, I suggest a diet that actually matches the Rosewill 630W
