Pavilion p7-1414: HARD drive replaced and now...

The hard drive failed on my desk. I replaced and ordered the site of HP recovery media. When I try to make the recovery all I get is a message that "the system recovery media does not support this computer. You are not able to restore the system with the media. What in the world do I do now?

  • My EliteBook 2760p had a hard drive failure and now, after replacing, it works a lot slower

    Good afternoon!

I have a serious problem with my EliteBook 2760p!
About two months ago, my EliteBook had a disk failure hard and after more than two weeks of control and test.
the hard drive has been replaced, and I received my EliteBook return.
I immediately saw that the previously installed Windows 7 with Croatian language pack and MS Office starter edition
has been replaced with an English version of Windows 7 without the starter edition of MS Office.
I also noticed that my EliteBook was significantly slower than it was before the change of hard disk!
This situation was unacceptable, and I took my EliteBook serving for additional repairs.
The gentleman of the function COS ZEL in Zagreb took a week or so more to test and verify everything
out and then he said that "they are not the error I described, and I can now pick up my EliteBook.

My EliteBook is always in this State and is considerably slower than it used to be!
Even more, the screen does not "flip" when I turn. In addition, the buttons at the bottom of the screen,
    do not work.

I would like to know where I can go do my EliteBook restored to the exact state as I initially have bougth inside
or be replaced by the new EliteBook under warranty because this state my EliteBook is online is not
    acceptable or feasible.

  • HP Pavilion p6580t CTO: hard drive replacement options

    Hello

I need to replace the hard drive (ST31000528AS) on my HP Pavilion p6580t CTO.  I'm trying to find which drives are compatible.  ST1000DM003 (promoted as a newer version of the ST31000528AS) work?  What of the SSD Kingston SSDNow v + UV400 (it is smaller, but I have not so much storage)?

f your original hard driveis still functional, I would discuss with the mnaufacturer. There are programs to reduce the partition to make your request.

  • Portege R700-1hd: Questions about HARD drive replacement and passwords

I have a 1hd R700 with 320 GB HARD drive in stock. I want to upgrade it to 500 GB. This update should be pretty simple, cloning from the old to the new.

However, I was wondering about the HARD drive password / finger.
My HARD drive it configured to use a fingerprint/password on boot - I guess that it is involved in the BIOS and the drive itself, but I'm not exactly sure how.
I think the HARD drive itself is locked, it is not a Windows or BIOS password.

If I change the HARD drive will still be able to use startup disk HARD password/fingerprint? Are there requirements for material of HARD drive I need to consider before buying new HARD drive? As should be a specific type of HARD drive to work with password disk HARD/fingerprint digital?

    Thank you

    Hi bullerd,

The HARD drive password is stored on the HARD drive so when you replace the HARD drive you must set a new password of HDD in BIOS. The password is not stored in the BIOS. In addition fingerprints can also be stored on the HARD drive or let s say fingerprint digital software but all of the operating system must be installed after Exchange HARD drive so it s new problem.

So the two passwords you mentioned are stored on the HARD drive so it s no problem to swap the HARD drive. :)

  • Hard drive replacement and warranty question Portege and Tecra models

    Good afternoon

I'm hoping for a little clarity if a laptop warranty is invalidated if the hard drive is replaced for another title of model/difference. The company that I work buys models Tecra and Portege for these last years, if we decide to buy more large hard disks and get our IT Department install them will be that gap in the agreement of guarantee with Toshiba?

I talked to Toshiba and they were a little gray in their response. They said that, if you didn't damage the laptop, it should be fine, but if you send it as an unrelated question, with what they can carry out repairs on the laptop if the hard drive does not match the orgional one provided...

Can somone if this is the case? It seems ridiculous that you would not be able to replace the drive even if bought from an official and used dealer in a corporate environment.

    Kind regards

    Jonsey

As much as I know RAM and HDD upgrade do not negate the warranty. For many models of laptops, you can find instruction how to do this. It is described in the document of the user s manual or you can find short videos on Toshiba documents (knowledge base).

Even on this forum in the USER SELF REPLACEMENT section you will find instructions how to replace the hard drives.

What you can also do is to contact the nearest Toshiba authorized service provider and check what they say on this subject.

  • Pavilion dv6-6140us: Hard Drive/replacement warranty?

I get an error Smart 'Failure Immanent' Drive, back-up immediately... and of course its been telling me this for almost 2 years now. My Question is, ' my hard drive that are covered by the manufacturer's warranty or the warranty HP? My laptop justifies more HP, but the manufacturer has a 5 year warranty on its internal hard drives and my hard drive is not yet 5 years old. The HHD I refer to has moved into my laptop at the time I bought it. Anything else you need to know? Thank you.

    ZiggyDee

Only the car manufacturer can tell you whether or not your drive is covered by their warranty.

You will need to contact them directly as HP has no role to play in this.

    Good luck

  • HP Pavilion laptop 14: hard drive replacement policy?

When I replace my old hdd (hard drive) again one on the support site... engineer on site will take my old hdd? is it necessary or any policy back from the old hdd can only get nine... or I have to keep my old hdd with myself...

Please clear my doubt. Here is all of us who have gone through this process and able to clear my doubt as soon as possible. ??

Yes, they will make you return the old drive to get a new, so HP can get any credit machine hard drive (as applicable). Otherwise how do they know that the old is really bad? This is true of every computer manufacturer.

  • Hard drive crashed and now 'My Documents' reports 'access denied '.

My drived by 'C' crashed. I replaced the trive and install a new copy of XP pro on a new drive. I plugged the old drive as slave and when I go to the 'Documents and Settings' area I am able to open most of all files except thoes in "Documents and Settings/username / My Documents". This directory and several others in the 'Documents and Settings' box report "Access denied" when I try to open them.

    Hi 1handclapping,

You will need to take ownership of files or files that refuse to that you access from your old hard drive.

  • HARD drive replacement and keep the Windows license

I recently bought a laptop computer HP, used, which comes with Windows 8.

    It is out of warranty.

Microsoft says that I can not use the serial key associated with settling on a facility "retail."

So, I can't just write the serial key and install from a USB key.

Is there a way I can buy a new HARD drive and use the license provided with the laptop?

Edit: Forgot to mention the reader will fail to the review of the short DST and Windows slows to an analysis minutes after starting.

Thank you very much for the help. This seems to be what I wanted.

  • Hard drive replacement and CC membership

I am ready to upgrade the hard drive on my MacBook Pro and would like to know how this may affect my CC software installation. I will clone my current drive with Carbon Copy Cloner on the new drive before you install it. My CC membership continue uninterrupted with the new player?

I do not know this tool, but I do not know who built it in (?) Migration and Time Machine tools do NOT work with Adobe programs because they didn't "catch" hidden registration files

You must ask the provider of that cloning program if they know files to record hidden... otherwise, deactivate on old and re - install the new drive

  • HP Pavilion dv7t-4100 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC Hard Drive replacement

    Hello

I have HP Pavilion dv7t-4100 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC, and I had problems with hard disk of the guarantee period. for example I buy in 2010 and had a hard drive replaced in 2011 and 2012. Next time, he failed in 2013 (almost 11 months apart on average).

The last time it failed, the warranty has expired so I thought to give it a try as employment through fixing/amortization of bad sector seagate software, Toshiba... that came out of Smart Drive Error.

I use the HARD drive for some time now, but want to be ready for the next round and I don't know that he's going to be gone for good next time.

Current HARD disk is 640 GB, 7200 RPM hard drive (replaced in 2012). HP 621046-001 manufacturer.

When replacing, can I use ANY hard drive 640 GB? Can I use a hard drive that is higher than 640 GB? Different RPM?

    Any suggestions on hard drive?

The recovery discs I had received with the replacement drive did not work properly. I had to use the first game I had created just after I bought the laptop.

    Thank you.
