  The firewire card is fine as I had mentioned previously.  I installed it and the computer knows it's there.  I really don't see why the name of the thing is so important.  I DON'T PLAN to buy anything else for the problem I have, and I never told him I would.  The only question was if the thing needed food and where to find it, but on mine, I found some answers to that too if I have to use this way.

  That's just the problem with the software now.  I was going to change the thing to the other pci slot and see if anyone makes a difference, but the computer has recognized the new hardware.  This isn't something to do with the firewire card or computer.

  I had bought the firewire from newegg like this card and found the profile down those who have the extra bracker for proper size.  It is manufactured by Rosewill.  went with no problem, really easy.  but these slimlines haven't ligned up very well the other slot PCI express.

  The slimelines should never require a lot of video.  Your 2008 model circa was Vista.  Updates drivers ended with WIN 7.   The reason why this thread is relevant is that most likely, you will need to upgrade the PSU also.  Most of the cards that are capable of providing the type of tasks you want to do will require a card with more power that the existing PSU can run correctly.

  NOTE: You really can not get a good gaming card to run in a slimline PC. Review the performance of NVIDIA specifications. Look at the specifications of strip memory bandwidth and level of DirectX support.  The 530 is much faster compared to the 210.
