My hard drive has been neglect and give an error (301). I replaced it with a new identical hard drive.

The problem is that the complete test gives me an error (305) on the new hard drive, claiming that it is full.

Quick test (303) and INTELLIGENT test (301)?

When I try to boot Win7 disk it reads not a boot device. New hard drive bad?

Welcome to the HP Forums, it's a great place to get help, find answers and advice,
Thanks for posting your request, I'll be more than happy to help you

As I understand it the hard drive has been replaced recently and the new drive does not either.
And you are right, the new hard drive also seems to have a flaw, and I recommend that you obtain a replacement.

For more information about the error code: 301, 303, 305 are all hard drive errors, indicating an imminent failure or had failed.

If the sticker OEM Windows on the laptop says Windows Home Premium, then it was probably 64-bit. You'll need to do a few things to bring your laptop into a useful state again.

    (1) remove the old hard drive from the laptop. Buy a new one and install it yourself, or have been in a store.

    (2) remove the battery and external power adapter and press the power button for 15-30 seconds. Plug the adapter external powre (leave uninstalled, battery). Now you should see it start BIOS and complain that it cannot find any bootable OS.

    (3) the set of recovery discs HP laptop of HP or purchase a licensed Windows Installation DVD. You can also download a version of Linux and install it on your new drive hard if that is your choice.

  • Pavillion dv6: how to get rid of the sound on hp Pavilion dv6 bar 2010

I have hp pavillion dv6 with a bar of his touch above the keyboard of 2010. When I turn to the top or down the volume a soundbar appears on the middle of the screen. It's a little bit boring when I'm in a game, because it closes the game when I have it in full screen. How can I get rid of the sound bar

    Hello

For your model, the sound bar osd is provided by HP MediaSmart SmartMenu.

You can just uninstall it since entering programs and features or simply to prevent it from running at startup - you can make the later steps.

Hold down the Windows key and press R. For the run box, type msconfig and press ENTER. In the next window, click on the Startup tab, uncheck the box next to HP MediaSmart SmartMenu and then click apply and then click OK to make the change. Restart the notebookfor this change to take effect.

  • Pavillion DV6 1330 CE: Pavilion DV6 1330 ec CPU upgrade

    Hello.

I want to upgrade the CPU in my EC of Pavillion DV6 1330. Is it possible to change my Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 with Intel Core 2 Duo T9900, Intel Core 2 Extreme X 9100 or perhaps Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9300 (quad core)? What I need to change the cooling system or the stock is enough?

    My current setup:

    CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 2, 53GHz

    RAM: 2x2gb DDR3

GPU: ATI Radeon HD 4650 1 GB

HARD drive: Samsung EVO 850 SSD

    10 64-bit Windows

Thanks in advance for the answers.

    Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

    Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T9900 3.06 GHz with 6 MB of cache L2 and FSB 1066 MHz (FSB)

    Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T9800 2.93 GHz with 6 MB of cache L2 and FSB 1066 MHz (FSB)

Intel Core 2 Duo T9600 2.80 GHz with 6 MB of cache L2 and FSB 1066 MHz

Those are your upgrade and options of the foregoing would be a major improvement. The T9800 and T9900 in particular are extremely strong. Equal to 2d plus gen processors Core i5 in my opinion. The market knows that, however, and these processors tend to be difficult to find and expensive. The T9600 is only slightly less powerful and more widely available and cheaper. The "X" model processors are a no-go.

  • Pavillion dv6: I can't find hp simplepass for my pc. Help, please.

Hello. I use a hp pavillion dv6 p / n: lw218us #aba the problem is that I had to reset for some reasons. during the process of resetting my simplepass got deleted. No, I can't. Please help me. I'm already suicidal...

and btw, is there a way that I can return the version that came with it when I bought it in 2013?

    @Xain_Basit

Depending on the exact model of your laptop, you should be able to use this driver of validity:

    sp58900 validity sensor V4.4.234.0 W8 - W8.1

It is impossible to know which version of SimplePass you use - depending on what you were using before, one of them will work for you:

    Series 6 (AuthenTec)

    sp63224 HP SimplePass V6.0.100.276 Win7-8

    Series 8 (Softex)

    sp71729 HP SimplePass V8.01.46A 32/64 bit W7 - W10

Understand that the 8-series is NOT a newer version of the series 6 - here are two completely separate programs and they are not compatible.  Choose one or the other.  If you choose wrong (according to you), you can remove the 'bad' program > reboot > install the other series.

You must not have installed other HP drivers for Windows 10 - you want to have your drivers HP installed, and THEN you try to process logon Windows native 10 fingerprints, THEN you try to treat SimplePass.

    GENERAL instructions:

    • Create a Restore Point
    • Update your drivers HP for Windows 10 versions of the HP drivers
    • Ensure the Windows Update are up-to-date (unless you have 'deferred' updates to update, updates are automatic)
    • Configure Windows 10 fingerprints fingerprint logon (including the PIN)
    • Restart and sign
    • Install the driver of validity
    • Restart and sign
    • Install your choice of SimplePass
    • Restart and sign

Can you let me know what follows.

    1. open windows control panel, open Device Manager, open the CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drives, right click on the device listed here and select Properties.  On the general tab, is there an error code in the device status area and if there is, what is the error code?

    2. What is the full version of the operating system you are using - IE Windows 7 64 bit?

    3. did you eject the drive tray and tried to clean the lens?  If you do not, try cleaning with a piece of soft cotton and check if it makes a difference.

  • NVIDIA GT 630 M is not updated in Pavillion dv6 7010tx

My laptop is Pavillion dv6 7010tx

NVIDIA GT 630 M is able to search the new updates, but after downloading the update, it's not recognizing the Driver.I checked that all the drivers are properly installed.

Latest version of the driver for this model, that you can download here (ver. 295.93).

    Note:

Remove all previous versions of the NVIDIA graphics driver before you install the latest version.

  • HP Pavillion DV6 - 8.1 Windows upgrade fails on devices to prepare

I made several attempts to upgrade my HP Pavillion DV6 of Windows 8 6b90eo for windows 8.1, all have failed. A few times I got the 0xC1900101 - 0 x 40017 but also the end not even. The installation fails during the step "Getting Ready devices" and 73%, the screen goes black, but turned on, and nothing happens for a very long time (I let it sit for several hours). I ve read a lot about the problem and I realize that I'm certainly not alone with this problem. I tried several ideas that I found all over the internet, including:

    • Disconnect any external devices
    • Install all updates via Windows Update
    • Install the latest video drivers for my AMD Radeon HD 6770 m
    • I m does not work any program anti-virus except Microsofts own Windows Defender, which I tried to turn it off, with no difference in the result.

Initially, the machine ran Windows 7, installed by HP. This has been upgraded to Windows 8 by me without any problems. So, I'm not under a version of Windows 8 own but an upgrade. I thought to install a clean version but if I understand the licensing for my requests of version upgrade that I have upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 8 and activating a clean Windows 8 install fails with my license key. Is this true?

The WindowsUpdate.log file is empty for the period between the computer restarts during the installation up to the crash to get the loan of devices. There is therefore no clues.

After a manual stop, after that the installation failed, it restores the previous version of Windows.

The computer has switchable graphics with Intel HD Graphics 3000 card, which many will report it as a problem. Don't know what to do about that though. Some have commented that I should try to uninstall all videodrivers for AMD and Intel without reboot the machine and then install Windows 8.1, what I tried haven´t. Microsoft recommend it as an alternative? I tried to update the driver but the Intel driver update utility indicates that the installed driver for the HD Graphics 3000 is a personalized by the manufacturer driver and that the driver may not be updated.

I ve checked with HP and they have not tested to improve the DV6 6b90eo to Windows 8.1 and accordingly recommend to continue running Windows 8. I have a hard time accepting.

Maybe someone at Microsoft for assistance? Y at - it files of newspapers that I can see and get an understanding of why the update fails? Y at - there anyone out there who have actually managed to upgrade the HP Pavillion DV6 6b90eo to Windows 8.1? If Yes, have you had difficulties, how do you have that solve you, or does the job of upgrading without flaw for you?

Thank you for your help and comments.

    Hello Robert,.

Thank you for the update on the question and sorry for a delayed response.

If you can't update Windows 8.1, I suggest trying the steps by Vivian Samartha responded on April 12, 2014 in the following thread and see if it works for you.

If the problem persists after trying the above steps, I'll ask to follow the steps given by David Williams Dixon in the Blog below.

Something happened and the 8.1 Windows installation may not be completed. (And now you are bored)

We know if the steps help you in upgrading the computer to Windows 8.1.

  • Pavillion DV6 Wireless does not

The wireless on my HP Pavillion DV6-6135DX no longer works, but apparently only for certain networks (perhaps only networks encrypted, I'm not completely sure of any common point).

I recently installed a bunch of updates of Windows 7 that I thought could have been part of the problem. I went back to before the updates, wireless still did not work on some networks, then reinstalled and wireless updates did not work again.

I lived all the troubleshooting of Windows but did not help.

What could be the problem / what I should try next?

    Thank you.

EDIT: I also tried to reinstall the latest version of the driver for the network card. This did not help either.

It seems that I need to first uninstall the network card driver rather than just installing the latest driver.

I first went to the Device Manager and uninstalled the Realtek driver under network devices and then restarted my computer, allowing Windows to reinstall the driver. Now my wireless seems to work on all networks again.

  • DV6 HDD 303

Hi, my hard drive is showing an error 303, I think I need to replace it, but that I lose all data in it? Please help, and if I did... Please is there a way I can get it back?

    Hello

Error 303 would indicate the hard drive is faulty and must be replaced.

A possible way to try to recover your files from a disk non-boot is to follow the process described in the link below.  The CD of the Ubuntu operating system you create can launched from the CD alone (IE it doesn't have to be installed on the hard drive) and I've often found to successfully extract data even a hard failure.  When you created the CD, follow the instructions and see if you can back up your existing data.
