Pavillion zd7000: keyboard on zd7000

I have tried everything with my zd7000, including a new keyboard but the keyboard still does not work. Finally I used it about 8 months ago and everything was fine. I put in the driver discs and no luck, then went to HP driver updates. I use a keyboard usb at the moment and it works fine. I checked the hardware in the Device Manager and it shows the keyboard so I uninstalled the keyboard and rebooted the computer. I looked in the new hardware device manager and the keyboard is there so I guess only he himself reinstalled properly. I took the keyboard of my zd8000 and tried... even nothing. I have my zd7000 original keyboard and put it on my zd 8000 and it works great so I bought a keyboard for nothing. I have a glass magnifying glass at high power and looked (ZIF) connector for anything that might be loose, but I don't see anything broken or lose unless the connector is tarnished and in this case I don't see a way to clean. Any suggestions short of replacing the motherboard, which is not worth when I can use a wireless keyboard $20 with a mouse to rolls.  What are good computers when the cylinder is being upgraded to 2 GB and has many features that work well with two entertainment centers in my house. I thought of replacing the HD 7000 and 8000 with SSD and let them live their life style. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

I think you have done all that any professional technician could do. The keyboard on the motherboard port is simply dead. You have confirmed the keyboard is good by plugging it into another computer, you have tried another well known keyboard and it does not work. You can probably find a new motherboard for your zd7000 for a fairly reasonable cost on eBay, you know.

  • Pavillion zd7000 hard drive

I did a digital recording on my zd7000 and it has a 80 GB HDD at 5400 RPM.  I'm looking for options to upgrade the hard disk at 7200 at least but I understand that these are disks IDE / ATA.  If a couple of questions...

    1. Can I buy just a stop disk 7200 RPM of the platter, then plug it in?
    2. If I can't upgrade the internal hard drive can I use an external drive fireware at 7200 rpm or 10,000.  This would effectively increase the transfer rate?
    3. I didn't think of other options?

    Thanks in advance...

Thank you very much for your answer.  You hit the questions on and yes I have considered upgrading the laptop, widely enough.  If I there are some very specific things, I need and the price is more in the range of $1,000-$ 1,500.  The other 'hidden' question is that if I upgrade, I'd probably architecture 64-bit and that would cause a domino effect in the upgrade of some hardware, software and drivers...

The Pavillion zd7000, not to mention that some of its shortcomings has been a phenomenal laptop.  What keeps me with him is a dual proc to 2.66 Mhz, many laptops are at the same level, although I know that all increases in bus, memory and hard drive are starting to push me towards an upgrade.  The only issues I had were the video card (which was replaced by HP) and the amount of heat that this puppy goes out...  So if I can squeeze another year out of it for another $100, I'd be happy...

Thanks again for your information, it was very helpful!

    Hello:

There is no information online about what audio chip model has your laptop.

Please post the hardware ID of the device you see listed in the device as a Multimedia Audio Controller Manager and I will see then if there is a driver W7 or equivalent driver, which you can use.

To find the hardware ID, click the multimedia Audio Controller in Device Manager.

Then click on the Details tab in the upper part of the window multimedia Audio Controller.

Now you will see a drop-down list of property and it will be set to the Description of the unit.

On this list and select the 2nd (Hardware ID).

After the first string of characters you see in the window.

  • HP Pavilion ZD7000 hard drive expandable to SSD? Compatible?

I'm looking to upgrade a HP Pavilion ZD7000 (P/N: DN730AV) for Windows 7 Home Premium, including equipment upgrades memory to 2 GB of storage, and I would add an SSD.

    Two questions:

Q: a solid state drive is not compatible to this brand and model of laptop?

Q: If so, the BIOS would require upgrading to support the SSD drive?

    Thank you!

There are several problems with you try to run Windows 7 on this 10 year old material. The video (nVidia Geforce FX5200 GB) card will not support Aero desktop effects and is known to be buggy in Windows 7 with all the drivers from nVidia available. Second, the hard drive is EIDE, not SATA, so there is no available AHCI mode. AHCI is the only way to get excellent performance of an SSD. There are EIDE SSD. And they do not provide a performance increase, but nothing like what you get with modern machines with native SATA (AHCI) support.  It can use 2 GB of RAM which is memory DDR333. It is a single core Pentium 4 processor, and frankly, there are many cell phones on the market with as much computing power.

128 GB PATA (EIDE) SSD for $175

    64 GB for $80

The problem with the SSD isn't the BIOS, but the basic material. Here is the service manual you'll need if you decide to go forward. The laptop is great and pretty easy to disassemble. It could be upgraded to a 3.4 ghz Pentium 4 very easily for a little money if you have a slower processor installed. This would to some extent.

Hello there... I have a Pavillion DV - 6 model 6B47DX... I'm pretty sure that I can't replace my keyboard with a backlit. However, what I can disable backlit mouse (that I can turn on and off by pressing fn and pressing the space bar) and if it plugs into a compatible port, plug the new backlit keyboard into the mouse port?

Or if this is not possible, is there backlit interchangeable "capable" motherboards that might work?

    Thank you!

    Hello

Based on the following specifications, your machine does NOT have a slot for Express card, only 1 free slot for CardBus or PCMCIA card:

Have you thought about using USB card reader? Alternatively, you can use something similar to:

  • How to remove wire of antenna hole ZD7000?

UPDATE: Maintenance and Service Guide mentions that drivers of antenna are attached to a card; This is why I can just get through the hole. There may be enough slack so that, in my case, I have to disconnect the wires.

I found some issues with the instructions that I've referenced below.

    ______________________________________________________

    Hello

I disassemble my ZD7000 laptop to replace the power connector. I started to follow the steps at http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Repairing+HP+Pavilion+ZD7000+Motherboard/2878/1.

Everything was going well until I got to step 14, where I am responsible for "Disconnect the 2 cables from the monitor to the rest of the laptop." In the photo, the antenna wire is one of the two wires that are highlighted with a red box. (Even if the image is somewhat confusing, because it shows a hand touching a third wire is not highlighted.)

The manual of maintenance repair & HP says: "Remove the cables of 2 antenna of the hole and chute in the top cover." Since they are wire antennas, I assumed that I could just make out through the hole. However, I let fall after pressure pull as I dared, that was a lot.

Am I missing something? I guess I could cut wire antennas and resolder them during the rests.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    Bill

As indicated in my update, this issue has been resolved

  • Unable to write DVD/CD-RW Pavilion zd7000 drive

    HP Pavilion zd7058CL laptop

    Windows XP Home Edition 32-bit

    Lead questioning = HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-4241N

Error Msg = you need to maybe install a CD/DVD burner

    Hello

Just installed Windows XP on a brothers and sisters more older HP Pavilion & everything seems to work well, except that I'm unable to copy files to a CD.  Am able to play CDs (loading the OS a & as capable of reading DVDs).

Receiving error during the copy of Windows messages: there was an error in the writing process.  The disc you have attempted to write may no longer be usable.

Microsoft Fixit said: the selected drive is not able to write, if you have multiple CD/DVD drivers try to use another, otherwise you may need to install a CD/DVD burner.

I downloaded the HP diagnostic utility & everything checked good - no errors.  But then it only checked in the CD/DVD drive for function read (not write).  Think I got all the good free codecs installed - not not ready to pay for on a laptop nVidia codecs that old.  This PC has bounced around my family of sisters for a while & then the original disks are lost.   I used a Windows reinstallation disk & label COST to reinstall the OS.

Something maybe just physically wrong with the drive & it is unable to write.  Withdrawing & reinstall using the player?  Clean it up?

    Thanks for any help,

    LaserJet

I hope that it will work, or you can probably pick up a DVD burner used, but tested and functional for your model on eBay for cheap.

  • (SOLVED!) Keyboard connector Hp Pavillion DV700 can be soldered on motherboard?

    Hey all,.

I think the subject of this post says it all. I was working on a HP DV9727cl, and while I was the keyboard remove keyboard on the mobo connector, the connector just jumped off, to my surprise. I have used practically any force, and I just move the little plastic clip that holds the keyboard in place ribbon.

I have some pictures of the isolated connector, as well as the place that it is the motherboard. Because it appears that none of the pins are broken - it was a pure pop-off, nothing was broken - can I just weld the piece back on? I can adapt it exactly back where it is, but when I fit the Ribbon of the keyboard, it pulls up the connector. I think that if I could just get to stay, then it might work.

There again, I could be completely wrong, and with the connector off the coast, there is no putting the genie in the bottle, so to speak. I could live with it, as there are has motherboards for this particular model on eBay for less than $90, so it would not be expensive to replace prohibiltly.

Is it possible to fix, or it's time for a review of the mobo?

"Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent." -Issac Asimov, from its roman Foundation.

You need a new motherboard, if you look on the connector, he tore some of copper right from the motherboard.

You can't solder it back in place.

Your last photo shows 6 connections that broke at the weld joint.

You can see on the motherboard also, the lugs to be welded are pulled up to the MoBo.
