PC 6248: Obtaining DHCP address for incorrect subnet.

I recently inherited a Dell PowerConnect 6248, which I am not familiar with, and I'm trying to use it as a switch Layer 3.

I have a 10 of VLAN with a network 10.10.10.0/24 and 11 VLAN with an associated network of 10.10.11.0/24.

When I statically assigned addresses on the clients on the ports configured for these VLANs. I can ping other subnets, and traffic is routed correctly.

I also support IP configured in the world pointing to my DHCP server, and I installed the DHCP scopes for the associated networks VLAN 10 and 11.

When I connect a device to a port configured with VLAN 10, I get a the network 10.10.10.0/24 DHCP address.

However, when I connect a device to a port configured with VLAN 11, I receive a DHCP address also in the 10.10.10.0/24 when he should be in the 10.10.11.0/24 network.

The VLAN, routes and extended DHCP appear to be properly set up everywhere. Yet once, when customers use statically assigned addresses their VLANs and adequate networks, traffic is routed normally. But I'm getting DHCP addresses for the incorrect subnet for clients connected to the local network VIRTUAL 11.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Looks like you're real close how it works, we just miss something in the configuration.

When you configure the port for VLAN 11, which command do you run? Once it is configured for that VLAN, we can confirm that by simply running a show on this interface command.

It may be useful to see the configuration running on the whole, this will help us to look for any possible changes, we can offer you.

If you could give us a screenshot or the decrease in the size of the DHCP scope settings, we can help those look too.

Thank you

  • Change the range of dhcp addresses for nat Vmnet8 for VMPlayer/Linux

    Hello.

Vmplayer/fedora running. Trying to change the host address of range/ip dhcp for nat (vmnet8).

Within the vmplayer gui, there is no apparent way to change the range/nat dhcp data.

I see that there are a few vmware apps in/usr/bin pertaining to vmware, who seem to have an impact on the range/dhcp/nat address, but I can't find docs on exactly how it works. Also, where is the configuration for the dhcp protocol entry.

Basically, I would put the dhcp/vmnet8 192.168.12.1 and present the range to be 192.168.12.128 - 192.168.12.135.

    Thank you

If you have only installed VMware Player 3.x, then you have not the editor of virtual network, as in VMware Workstation and without it, here are the commands to run in a Terminal.

    sudo su

    cp -a /etc/vmware/networking /etc/vmware/networking.bak
    nano /etc/vmware/networking

  • Configure the router WRT54G with the PUBLIC IP address and use the DHCP protocol for internal computers

    Hello

I have a service online Internet with 5 public IP addresses.

The router and the AP are connected to a switch.

I would like to set up a WRT54G Router with a public IP address and use DHCP (with private ip address) for the computers that will connect to the AP.

That the AP is connected to the switch, it is possible that the other wired computers that are connected to the same switch can get an IP from the DHCP?

    Thanks in advance

In this case, the routing is automatic.

    WRT54G configuration:

    WAN:

    Internet connection: static IP address

    IP address: 180.X. X 170

    Subnet mask: 255.255.255.248

    Gateway: 180.x.x.x (Ex: 180.x.x.1)

    DNS: servers your ISP DNS

    LAN:

The IP address of the router: 10.10.10.1

    DHCP range: 10.10.10.100 of-online 10.10.10.200

  • Can built-in DHCP of WLC provide IP addresses for the wired client?

    Hello

We have a WLC running on 7.0.98.0. It provides IP addresses for users without comment thread. Now, we would like to put a couple of wired posts for customers who do not bring mobile no. I wonder if I put these workstations on the same vlan without comment thread, they can always get IPs of the WLC. If this isn't the case, I put the static IP on these workstations.

    Thanks in advance.

    Robert

    Rob:
The answer is simply "no". WLC cannot provide clients wired on the same VLAN wireless whose IP address if DHCP is configured on WLC.

Fbarboza above metnioned is a 'very' special configuraiton on wireless LANs where the WLC is configured to support some wireline customers and he needs to have two WLCs (the show is called Wired comments). This particular case does not apply to your situation.

With your situation, my answer above apply.

    Note

A internal DHCP server pool will only serve the wireless clients of that controller, not clients of other controllers. Also, internal DHCP server can only serve wireless clients and not wired clients.

So, how can I change DHCP to static IP address for my ESX Server?

    Thank you very much.

    hihiy

    Hello

You can assign static IP using the below command

    esxcfg-vswif - i

    Restart the network service

Try this command to list the IPconfig

    #esxcfg - vswif - l

  • NV + is not refreshing ip by dhcp address

I have a readynas nv + (v2 I think?) who has been working great. It is configured to obtain the address of the dhcp server. He already had an address of 192.168.1.144.

I recently replaced my router wireless with another, but the new router is configured exactly the same. All devices, both wireless and wired are a k upward and the race except the readynas. After reconnecting, it just shows an address of 192.168.168.168 on the front panel. I stop, unplugged and replugged Ethernet cable, changed cables, connected directly to the router instead of the switch that everything is attached. But he will not try and get a new address or even use the old one.

So, what can I do? I'm OK with the reset if it would kickstart the dhcp. But I don't want to lose all data. Why is not reconnected the network cable work? It does not say it's refreshing ip address, but then comes back with default. I don't want to monkey with connect a pc directly to it or if that can be avoided.

    Thanks for any help!

I'm so glad you have identified what is happening. Network connections simply one device between the NAS and the router either to the Uncable must be broken so that there problems.

  • Static IP address for printer with a wired connection

My printer (HP7210) is wired connected to my WRT54GL router. 2 computers also have a wired connection, my laptop is connected wireless. All of these computers use the connected printer. 2 computers can only use a static IP address for the printer. How can I set a static IP in my router?

I don't think that the WRT54GL supports static IP with the stock Linksys firmware.

The solution is to assign the static IP address to the printer. Most of the printers on network supports the definition of a static IP address manually. The key is to set the static IP address on the printer out of the range the WRT54GL uses for its DHCP server. Sign in to the administration page of your router and see what addresses the range of IP addresses he uses to hand over the IP address of the client. Usually, Linksys likes to start xxx.xxx.xxx.100 and have leases of 50 to 100 a cancelled so to avoid conflict, you can use any IP in the range of xxx.xxx.xxx.002 through xxx.xxx.xxx.099, or through xxx.xxx.xxx.254 xxx.xxx.xxx.201. After configuring the IP static on the printer, you may need to reconfigure all the print drivers that are already installed on client computers so that they can connect to the new static IP address to the printer.

See the user guide page 140 to learn how to manually change the IP of the HP 7210 printer settings.

For example try using the next/IP subnet mask if your router is configured to use 192.168.1.100 to its DHCP server setting:

Use the IP address of: 192.168.1.202

    Use the subnet mask: 255.255.255.0

    Use the gateway: 192.168.1.1

To change the IP of the control panel settings

    1. press Setup.

    2. press 8and then press 3.

This selects the Network Configuration , and then IP settingsmenu.

    3. press on until Manual appears, then press OK.

    4. change the IP address, and then press OK.

    5. change the subnet maskand then press OK.

    6. change the default gatewayand then press OK.

  • DHCP fails with two subnets and RV325 and SG300 - 28 p

DHCP fails to issue addresses in double subnet environment.  Please see attached.

    Hello

Mr. Ezzell, after reviewing all the screenshots and have a look at your configuration and you are not able to change the arrangement for VIRTUAL LANs, you can try this:

As a work-around to use the router as DHCP VLAN 2 server, you can enable the DHCP server on the router for the VLAN 1, leave 2 IP addresses available, lets say 192.168.1.253 to 192.168.1.254 then go to static DHCP under network and the local network and hire two false addresses to these two IP addresses, so they will not be assigned to all devices. This way you will always be able to use your DHCP server without having to disable the DHCP server on the router

Thank you for pointing out the firmware version very low on your switch, you actually run the firmware that came out of the unit.

Here is a link to the firmware download page:

    https://software.Cisco.com/download/release.html?mdfid=283019669&flowid=...

Please upgrade to the following firmware versions:

    1.2.9.44
    1.3.0.62
    1.3.5.58
    1.4.0.88

Keep in mind that on the 1.3.5.58 version, you must also upgrade the bootcode using TFTP software.

Once you are done with the upgrade of the connection check and see if it works.

  • Cannot configure the static IP address for Cisco Touch 8 "

    Hi all

I found that I can not configure the static IP address for Cisco Touch on TC7.0.1 / 7.0.2 with the procedure described below.

    1. upgrade a codec (e.g. SX20 TC6.3 or less) and a touch paired with the codec for TC7.0.2.

    2. after the upgrade, désapparier (with the help of désapparier Touch button) touch and it reboot.

    3. tap on "IP settings."

    4. Select "Manual IP allocation".

    5. Enter the IP address, subnet mask, default gateway, and then press "Save".

Even though we have configured the static IP address with the above procedure, IP allocation remains 'Auto' (= DHCP) and the IP address, subnet mask, default gateway is also empty.

In this situation, the only way to configure the IP address for the Touch is to use the DHCP server.

I guess many users uses the static IP assignment like us, so please fix it as soon as POSSIBLE.

    Best regards

    Kotaro Hashimoto

    Hi Kotaro,

It is a known problem in TC7.0.1 and TC7.0.2. The id of the bug is CSCum82147.

To work around the problem, set IP address you want the button before moving on to TC7.0.x.

The bug has been fixed and will be included in the next version of the TC software.

    Kind regards

  • Unable to see the option of ip address for esx3.5 by Vi client settings

I have two esx 3.5 boxes in a cluster and the two esx are in place and works well with hosting some virtual machines from each... and I'm able to power on all virtual machines and run.

an ESX is fine and no probs with it.

recently, there was some issue with the esx with its Ip settings... I provided a static Ip to the ESX and then I lost connection with this esx... I connected to tht ESX with ILO and del vswif0 and all vswitches and created a new and affect the service console port group DHCP ip address.

I followed these steps to d that:

    xcfg-vswitch - a & lt; vswitch name & gt;

esxcfg-vswitch - L & lt; binding name rising NIC & gt; & lt; name of vswitch

    esxcfg-vswitch - a & lt; PortGroup name & gt;. vSwitch

    esxcfg-vswif - a vswif0 Pei & lt; PortGroup name & gt;. i DHCP

And now I'm able to connect the ESX Vi client... but when I go to the configuration tab, then to the networks... Properties and modification of service console... am able to see only two options uder general tab... its label of network and Vlan ID... There should be option for Ip settings is sttic and dynamic... Obtain ip automaticallya nd provide static ip... am able to see it all in my box first ESX... but not in this second one.

    Hello

To reset the vswif there is no need to recreate all virtual switches. However, I don't like dynamic addresses for ESX. Eitherway, you should be able to do things always work out.

Regarding the differences, it could be in the way in which you created the vswif more than anything.  You should still be able to switch from no DHCP if DHCP using DHCP, you will see all the information you want without going through the console. IP must always appear on the home screen however, does it?

  • Help with static IP address for the WRT54GL by EZXS55W

    Hi all!

I'm having some trouble network at the office and cannot keep close internet for all the world just try a new mode of connection of the cables.

We recently received a notice on five new static ip addresses for the office, we did turn on DHCP those for a year now.

We have a basic network requiring no credentials of the modem or connection.

At this moment we have a network cable straight from the network on the router (WRT54GL) failure. Then, the router is defined in gateway mode and uses one of our static Ip addresses.

I wanted to connect my server to the same fault, but using the static IP address, so I thought why not do it through a switch.

So the network failure, I ran the right network cable into the uplink on the switch (EZXS55W) connector and then put the router in port 1 and my server port2. Both connected with the right cables.

The Internet light on the router does not light and the switch just flicker light now and then.

Maybe someone here can help me how I should put up to get to the top and running, what do I have to configure something special on the router or maybe somewhere use twisted cables.

    Please I need your help!

Thanks for the help and you where once there was something wrong along the way.
I tested my switch before trying this, but apparently it is now broken.
I borrowed another switch of a friend and everything was up and running in a few seconds.
So now I just need to buy a new switch and everything will be fine.
    Once agan, thank you...
