PC restarts after right click on Explorer

Original title: RON1

WHENEVER I MAKE A CLICK RIGHT ON THE WINDOWS EXPLORER 7 HE WANTS OT RESTART EVERY TIME

Hi Ron,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

  • Remember to no particular change in the computer before the show?
  • What is the brand and model of the computer?

This could be due to any dispute of third party software. I would suggest trying the following methods and check.

Method 1: Start the computer Safe Mode and check if the problem persists. If the problem does not persist in safemode, turn on your computer in a clean boot state and check.

Step 1: Start the computer in Mode safe

Safe mode is an option of troubleshooting for Windows that starts your computer in a limited State. Only basic files and drivers needed to run Windows are started. The words Safe Mode appear in the corners of your monitor to identify which Windows mode you are using.

Please refer to: , start your computer in safe mode

Step 2: Perform a clean boot in order to avoid any conflict of third party software.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

Place your system in the clean boot state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem. You must follow the steps in the article mentioned below to perform a clean boot.

How to perform a clean boot in Windows

Note: see 'How do I reset the computer to start normally after a boot minimum troubleshooting' to reset the computer starts normally after troubleshooting.

Method 2: Run the System File Checker tool

System File Checker is a Windows utility that allows users to find corruptions in Windows system files and restore the damaged files.

To do this, click Start, type command or cmd prompt in the Search box, right click invite, and then click run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click allow.

At the command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER:

sfc/scannow

Note: Not close this command prompt window until the audit is 100% full. The results of the analysis will be posted when this process is completed.

Hope this information is useful. Please feel free to answer in the case where you are facing in the future other problems with Windows.

    Hello

    Run the sfc/scannow command.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833

Use the (SFC.exe) System File Checker tool to determine which file is causing the problem and then replace the file. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click principally madeprograms,Accessories, right-clickguest, and then clickrun as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or clickallow.
    2. Type the following command and press ENTER:
      sfc/scannow

  • Make a right-click crashes Explorer in several versions. It is a BUG, not a third-party software error. Difficulty?

In this forum and in many places around the internet (several hundreds) there are people complaining of strange and unexpected behavior in Windows.  I saw this for Windows 8, and I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit experience. The error is simply

    (1) If, in the left pane of Windows Explorer (WE), I right-click a specific item, IT crashes with a "Windows Explorer is closing and attempt to restart.

The weird part of this is that

    (2) if I click on exactly the same thing in the right pane, I get the menu box expected, no problem.

A photo is below. Given that the same command gives different results when called only slightly differently, and that happens on different platforms, I must conclude that it is a bug persisted in the way Windows handles the right click.  Here are a few things that are NOT useful:

-Execution of SFC/scannow.   My file systems are beautiful, according to this, and I still have the bug

-Running chkdsk /f once again, no errors

-Creating a crash dump file.  When I do that, I symbol search path is: * invalid * I can post all if useful.

Here are a couple of things that may or may not help

-In the course of execution ShellExView and disabling some of the DLLs not microsoft (did not work for me)

-Deletion of a specific key in the registry, it is [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ * \shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\BriefcaseMenu]
@= "{85BBD920-42A0-1069-A2E4-08002B30309D}" it worked for me

Here's what I suspect may have caused this:

-Install Truecrypt 7.1 has and the creation of a file encrypted (by removing the file and uninstall Truecrypt did not help)

-Installation of Oneview (withdrawal did not help)

-Installation of EASEUS backup or a backup of the AOMEI.  (Even once, uninstalling did not help).

OK, I say that this kind of things the uninstaller did not help.  This morning, since the problem has persisted, I rebooted AOMEI.  And that is, do a right-click now works left pane.  AOMEI associated reinstall?  So it is not only a problem, but an unstable.

Anyone can add any idea here?  A real solution?

OK, more information. The question of Spybot is known for them. With the permission of Spybot, if you want to solve the problem without uninstalling Spybot:
Open Spybot (right-click on the icon and "Run as Administrator")
    Click on 'User Mode '.
Select settings, and then click tab "System Integration".
    Uninstall "Windows Explorer intégration"
    Click 'Apply' and 'Ok '.
You can also launch parameters using the icon in the STTray (near the clock on lower ERS.)

As Spybot has been uninstalled, I reinstalled, using the path "I want to control what is installed.
On the "Select additional tasks" box, there is a section 'Intégration' I décliqués the two boxes on an Explorer Autoplay, the other related to the context Menu. I'll report if it does not work.

Thanks to SpyBot for their quick response.

  • Add "open with", right click on explorer 8

How can I add open with in the right click menu in Explorer 8?
I want to be abe to open files like powerpoint viewer in windows live mail, which unfortunately does not open in a browser window. If I remember, IE 7 has the right click to open with.

Because Internet Explorer is a web browser and web and web access object opbjects cannot open until they are on your own PC, a choice 'open with' is a non-sequitur.

  • no option to install after right click on HV___. Police PFB in 64-bit Windows 8

I try to install Helvetica on 64-bit Windows 8.1, all the forums that I read told me just right click on the policy and click installation... simple.

Well, when I click right I do not get the option to install, any ideas?

    HV_PFB.jpg

You have either got bum tips or you did not get quite the correct instructions.

You must as well the . PFB and the . PFM files associated with the police in the directory. You do a right click on the . PFM file to install the font that uses then the two files together for complete and correct installation.

If you don't have the two files, you can not install the font. The . PFB file contains the sketch and the police referring to information with measures of rudimentary fonts. The . PFM contains more complete required font metric information for programs that need to format the text by using the font.

  • Under XP I have right click Start exploring, when I right click on a file, it says Explorer has encountered a problem, I need help.

In the error message, there is a lot of information sent to Microsoft, but I have never had a response from them or been able to correct the problem myself. So what good sends an error problem to Microsoft each time got? Please notify that it is driving me crazy...

Usually, this is caused by an expansion of the Shell program.  Download and run the program freeware "ShellExView".  He will present a screen with all the Shell Extensions present.  Disable them a little at a time by unchecking them until you find the one that is causing the problem.

  • Add or remove destinations in the send to box after right-clicking on the programs.

is it possible to add or remove destinations in the send to box? I have a program called it Konvert which I deleted via my progs add/remove from the past few months and I would like to add a wave converter program called Switch order to convert MP3 to Wav. I could then send the direct file.

I don't know that you can do.

With regard to your audio converter...
I also Switch. As you already noticed, convert to Wav format is going to explode the size of the file. I say good shot upward.

Here's a program a lot better a lot, a lot, for audio conversion. 'S called it CDex.
He keeps the SAME size of file in WAV format mp3 *.

  • Right click in the shell of the BONE causes the crash of Explorer and restart

I am one of those who have a problem with Explorer crashing when I right click in the Win 7 OS shell.

When I right click on an element (for example, file, folder, library, shortcut in the start menu,...) explore hangs frequently... showing a message box and then finally by displaying a different message (with a progress bar) that explore restarting.  The issue is sporadic.  It happens regularly during a certain period, and then it may not happen again for a little while.

The issue started on my 64-bit Win 7 Pro system after a clean installed.  I had also installed other software (end versions on the web... not old code).  So, I started uninstalling things... and also used ShellExView disable each contextual menu non-Microsoft extension... and it happened again.

So, I rebuilt my system again... from scratch... clean install... and then settle with just three things:

    (1) I hosted Windows Update
    (2) I added the latest version of Avast antivirus (free)
    (3) I installed the latest version of Firefox

.. .and boom... Explorer crashed again in the same way.

Others say that this problem occurring on a vanilla full Win 7 installation with nothing else installed... which none of the third-party drivers.  I met dozens of people have reported the problem.  Here are a few recent reports:

    http://www.SevenForums.com/crashes-debugging/34826-right-click-Desktop-causing-Explorer-exe-crash.html
    http://www.SevenForums.com/performance-maintenance/19169-right-click-causes-Explorer-crash-fix.html
    http://www.SevenForums.com/crashes-debugging/22061-Windows-Explorer-crashing-right-click-under-x64-RTM.html

Several people have analyzed using various tools of profiling and dump and all signs point to the corruption of the heap... and the data looks as Explorer retires upon itself not a third-party component doing... but we don't have the source code to find the specific problem.

Obviously, there is a problem... and we would be grateful, at least, something that looks like 'we are aware of the problem and are addressing it. "

    Thank you.

    see you soon,
    Steve

Unfortunately the guys I dropped and reloaded but my apps will be the same in the list but I will not load anything on this machine, but the basic principles until I am sure that the problem has disappeared.

For now, I have this installed

all the default drivers but a newer version of the Intel AHCI drivers

    Opera
    Firefox
    Flash
    Java
    Kaspersky Internet Security
    Trillian

That's all I'll keep until this thing is running at least 3 days or more without an Explorer of the accident. If it crashes again as before, I will go back to Vista and don't move not not for Win7 until Service Pack 1 and I build my next machine. I can't spend every day on this and I don't want to. If it comes to Windows (which I strongly think that it is after all that) so it's quite sad, it's something like that got behind testers.

I wonder if the 32-bit version would be more reliable and it's just a x 64 issue?

I'll keep posted guys... Thank you

  • Shortcut - right click - Properties-'Target' - I can not type in "target".

I just bought a dell with Windows 7 netbook. I want to install a game called Guild Wars. Like most fans of the knowledge in game, you can download the full game client and updates, by adding the command - image at the end of the "target" under properties after right click on the shortcut of Guild Wars. I managed to install the game but I can not type in the box 'target' to type - image at the end of the directory (C: / /... - imag) if anyone can help me with this problem I would really appreciate it. Once more, the question is, how can I do if I can actually type in the box "target"?

It is compatible with Windows 7 (at least Windows 7 64-bit).

In any case, this happens because of the way Guild Wars creates a shortcut on your desktop. What you can try to do, is make a new shortcut on the desktop and add the parameters you need in this way. Good luck.

  • Right click on the taskbar Windows XP and auto-hide is now missing as an option

Original title: when a right click on the taskbar programs

After right-clicking on program icons on the taskbar the separator for other area of the task bar became uneven. There was like a stage that has been created instead of a straight line and the Hide button automatically went. What I was doing was checking to see what programs might be arrested if necessary during a download or install a program.  After that I closed and open then windows the taskbar was back to normal but Autohide disappeared. Auto hide has been giving me problems is not there when windows open at first, but after about an hour 1/2, he appears as usual. It is possible that if you install a program that does not correctly that other functions may be lost even after you uninstall the program?

Before you delete the user profile, you can view the article and go further.
How to copy data from a corrupted to a new profile in Windows XP user profile
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/811151
A new user profile will have no corruption of the system. You can create separate accounts for each person who will use the computer. This allows each user to have their own document folders and settings such as the wallpaper, Start menu, visual style, and so on. You can create and configure with the tool user accounts user accounts in Control Panel.
