  Download updates very well, but after that, they fail to install immediately. It seems to go so fast that he does not even try to install downloaded updates. I also deleted the cache update and downloaded fresh copies of the updates, but still no instlal. I even did a repair install on xp at a given time. The machine had a malware infection, but I healed part, including purging the master boot record and wiping the boot sector. I am really puzzled at that time and any direction would be greatly appreciated.

  I try to install Service Pack 2 on Vista, but it's just not going to install on my laptop. I tried all the solutions given on the help, for example using rugged, stand alone installation, uninstallation of McAfee, etc with no luck.

  The installation goes through steps 1 and 2 of fine, then get to 100% in step 3, bu, then it gives me a message "Service pack not installed, restore changes" and after about an hour, I get in Vista, where it gives me a message that the installation has been unsuccessful and the details of its says:

  I use a Dell Inspiron 9400.
