PDF Optimization?

I looked and looked and can't seem to be able to find something on this topic...

Optimizing PDF can be scripted/automated somehow?

TIA

What kind of 'Optimize' are you trying to accomplish?

From Acrobat 9.1, you can run profiles to preflight through JavaScript, so if the one who fits your needs, you can run it, then save the document.  For example, there is a 'edition online (optimize for size)' profile, as well as a "publishing online (optimize for quality)" profile.

  • PDF Optimization removes lines for the arrows & circles

I am using Acrobat 9 Pro for Mac.  I created documents that have need of arrows and circles around some of the images, & have created PDFs of these documents.  I need to optimize PDF files to reduce the size of the file, but in doing so, the PDF Optimization removes lines from the arrows & circles, leaving just the start & end points.  Here is an example of before and after optimization:

I changed almost all the settings in the PDF Optimizer, but it always deletes the lines.  What I'm missing here?

    Thanks for your help!

I just found it seems to do with the way that Word for Mac 2011 creates PDF via "Save as PDF".  I found that this works:

    1. In Word, print-> "Save as Adobe PDF" with the highest print quality.
    2. In Acrobat Pro, run optimization PDF with "Standard settings".

    I had the following results:

    • Original Word doc @ 17.2 MB
    • Adobe @ 14.2 MB PDF file
    • Optimized @ 3.8 MB PDF file

It looks like a lot of steps for me, but it produces a PDF file of high quality to a decent size.

  • Missing under Advanced menu PDF Optimization option

    Hello

I use Acrobat 9.4.  I am aware that the PDF Optimizer option is under advanced at the top menu.  However, this option seems to have disappeared.  By the Adobe Help file, I'm looking in the right place, but the option has disappeared.

Is there a way to recover this option?  I searched Google and found someone with the same problem on another forum but no answers have been posted.

If you run Std, then I don't think that option is available. You must specify the version of Acrobat you are using, not only was the level number. That is, Std, Pro, or Pro Extended.

  • Get PDF Optimization

I have acrobat Pro DC, but cannot use the function OPTIMIZATION PDF/tool, how to do this?  I thought paying for Acrobat Pro dc include this?  If so how can I get it?

You use Acrobat Reader. Open the document in Adobe Acrobat format.

  • Delete Pages, size of the file, PDF Optimizer Clean Up

Using Acrobat 9 Pro (for Windows, if that makes a difference).

I have a page 148 PDF of a magazine, about 58 MB in size.

I deleted 40 pages of ads, leaving just the useful content.

The size of the file is always about 58 MB.

When I run advanced-> optimization PDF

the file size down to about 47 MB.

The optimizer settings don't seem to matter.

Even with just 'Clean Up' selected, all options unchecked,

and Compression, the value 'Leave unchanged Compression'

the file size is further reduced.

I tried several other publishers of PDF with tools,

and none of them reduce the size of the file after you remove the 40 pages

even using their functions 'optimize' or 'compress '.

Can someone explain why deleting pages does not reduce the size of the file

and that fact optimizer (who do not have other tools)

to reduce the size of the file?

    Thank you

    -Glenn

Space of audit indicates that more than 99% of the content is images.

Save As works in the same way as Save (no change of size of original file).

However, Document-> reduce file size works even better than optimization PDF.

Reducing the file size to about 15 MB!

What extra stuff does reduce the file size?

  • Can we create list Action Pitstop for optimization PDF

    Hello world

I want to optimize the PDF for the Web and other files. Could you please confirm what can we create the Pitstip action list or profile of preflight for PDF Optimization as shown in Acrobat Professional.

And confirm can save us the preset as a file separate from the optimizer?

    Please suggest.

    Thank you

    Sandra

Acrobat and PitStop are two distinct products, even if they work together.

PitStop action lists only works in Enfocus products.

It is likely that you can do anything you want to optimize the PDF file. Send me a PM if you want to explore this option.

  • XI - optimization of Acrobat PDF problems

I know that the PDF Optimizer moved to save or save as Acrobat XI, function. The problem that I am facing is that on one (out of 30) of the Mac that I support, when I choose optimization PDF Optimizer window does not appear. I uninstalled and reinstalled Acrobat, but it still does not work. Help!

    Rave,

Thanks for the suggestion, but I was able to answer my own question this morning. I found only 2 PDF Optimization settings, which are located in the folder Application Support / optimization PDF of Acrobat were corrupt. Once I eliminated the optimization PDF Optimizer window file settings worked properly again.

  • How can I stop optimization PDF killing of hyperlinks?

I have a 50 pages of 10 MB pdf magazine produced from InDesign (CS4) that contains many hyperlinks. Pdf optimization using brings below 5MB it kills all hyperlinks. After experimenting, I discovered that hyperlinks to external websites and emails could be preserved by throwing uncheck all comments, forms and multimedia under ignore the user data. Nevertheless, all the internal links pointing to other pages in the mag has stopped working.

I tried again, only to find out that with each box under objects to throw the user data and Clean Up left unchecked, the optimizer still kills internal hyperlinks. Pointing the mouse on the link produces the small hand with pointed finger, but clicking on has no effect. I checked the links with the link tool and they look identical before and after optimization.

Can someone explain this? Someone at - it a cure or a workaround?

With Acrobat 9 Pro on a MacBook Pro OS 10.6.8

For those of you who are interested, after extensive experimentation, I discovered it's the transparency checkbox in the optimizer that kills links to domestic destinations. It should be disabled to preserve the links. I don't know why this should be the case (that have to do with transparency, hyperlinks?) and it took me an age to discover this. Thank you for the other suggestions.

  • OfficeJet 4630 insufficient for a pdf image

    OfficeJet 4630

When I open a pdf file that was created by the scanner using adf, I get this error, "insufficient for an image" in Adobe Acrobat format.

    Hi chanjackson,

    From the looks of things, this "insufficient for a picture" is about Adobe. I found a few references to validate. Please take a look at the proposed solution, I found;

This problem has been resolved with the latest version of the reader (http://get.adobe.com/reader) now available XI.  Us are actively working on a solution for previous versions and expect to have a fix available for Adobe Acrobat/Reader 10.1.x and 9.5.x in Q1 2013.

Update (January 8, 2013): this problem has now been fixed in the latest updates for Adobe Acrobat and Reader 9.5.3 10.1.5 available on the Adobe site:
    The reader updates
    Acrobat updates

    Workarounds

Change the zoom settings should allow you to see the content of the document.  Try to reduce the Zoom factor, or click on the button to "adapt to a full page in the window.

You can make this persistent change (to avoid change for each document) in Edit > Preferences > Page Display > Zoom > Fit Page.

You can also try saving the PDF file again in Acrobat using the PDF optimizer to optimize the PDF file using Standard parameters, or the PDF of reduced size option.

For those who seek to roll back to a previous version of Adobe Acrobat/Reader to avoid this problem, you can find here archived versions: ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/.

Here is the link that I got it from: "Insufficient for an image" error

If the problem persists, I think that the best approach would be to join the Adobe Community

You may want to consider uninstalling and reinstalling Adobe, which might do the trick.

    I hope this helps.

  • Recovery of pdf document scanned with Professional XI

    Hello

I want to straighten an already scanned pdf file. In the file scanned PDF optimize even if I select to filter ON Deskew and the rest off and unchecked OCR that I still have the choice for the small size and high quality bar. I don't like this because either way it changes the appearance of the pages.

I would just do a little turn the pages leaving everything as it is. Is this possible?

It is not yet decided. But even will be updated in the release notes when this feature will be executed.

We also now have a continuous model Adobe Acrobat DC instead of Acrobat 12, 13 etc. which requires a monthly/yearly subscription. You can try https://acrobat.adobe.com/in/en/free-trial-download.html

    Thank you.

  • . Xlsm to PDF Conversion

I am looking for a way to take many files in A folder and move them to the folder B with a different file extension. In the Outbox folder files are saved as. Xlsm and will ultimately become .pdf. I found a macro I could modify and run this task, but the. PDF files is damaged and cannot be opened. Anyone with a similar problem or solution?

If it still doesn't work then try using a backup command with the "PDF Optimizer" option checked, even if she didn't have to perform optimizations. I tried with the docx files and it worked fine.
