Photoshop 7, XP Mode, Virtual Machine... Scanner?

When I had Windows 7 Home, I had Photoshop 7 installed.  It did not work well, but it worked well enough.

I bought a new computer with Windows 7 Professional and Photoshop would not be installed.  It's okay, I've finally managed to do installed by download XP Mode and Virtual machine.  But there is a problem...

I have a Canon Pixma MP530 3-in-1.  The printer does not appear in the XP mode.  I tried to install it in XP mode and put it back in the mode of WIndows 7, but it is not displayed.  Any ideas?

Hello

Sorry for the delay in response.

If the problem of the printer seems to occur only in Windows XP mode in Windows 7, then you can post your question here for assistance:

  • Is it possible to save the xp mode virtual machine?

I was wondering if there is an image that I can back up so I did not reinstall every time I reformat

    Hello

Yes you can do it manually.
    Here's how:
    1. open Windows Explorer and navigate to %USERPROFILE%/Virtual Machines. It is the default location of the files vmcx. You will see a Windows XP Mode.vmcx file. This XML file contains the full path to the files that make up your virtual machine. The default full paths are:

    %UserProfile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows virtual PC\Virtual Machines\Windows XP Mode.vhd

    %UserProfile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows virtual PC\Virtual Machines\Windows XP Mode.vmc

    2. When you browse to %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Virtual PC\Virtual Machines, you can see additional files depending on the State of the virtual machine (that is, is this hiberated or not). If the virtual machine XP Mode is put in hibernation, if these additional files will appear:

    Windows XP Mode.vmc.vpcbackup
    Windows XP Mode.vsv

    3. the vmc and vmc.backup files are XML files that contain full paths to vhd files. If you restore on a different path, you will need to modify the XML files so that all file references are accurate and consistent. Windows 7 does not a VMS-specific automated backup.

    I hope this helps.

  • Windows XP mode virtual machine does not start after the upgrade to Windows 10

    Hello

After the upgrade to Windows 7 Pro for Windows 10 Pro, my virtual Windows XP machine (which was created from the "XP" mode in Windows 7) no longer starts.

    It shows:

This system is not allowed to run "Windows XP Mode". Now, the virtual machine will be turned off.

How can I activate the Windows XP Mode in Windows 10 Pro? I mean, I have not lost my right to run Windows XP Mode, just because I've upgraded to Windows 10, right?

    VMware Workstation 12.1

    Hello

How can I activate the Windows XP Mode in Windows 10 Pro? I mean, I have not lost my right to run Windows XP Mode, just because I've upgraded to Windows 10, right?

I fear that the statement is pretty much on the mark.

Microsoft caught only supported XP Mode in Windows 7, it has been since Windows 8.

You might be able to extract the folder integer vhd it and import it in VMware Workstation as a separate virtual machine. In the end, 'XP Mode' just was running a virtual machine in your Windows 7 after all.

  • Maintenance mode migrates virtual machines only from GUI

We have 6 * 5.1 with configured ESXi HA, DRS and a 5.1 Vcenter.

If we put an ESXi in maintenance mode through the user interface of Vcenter all virtual machines will be to migrate to other hosts, there is no problem at all.

But if we put the same through VMA host in maintenance mode, virtual machines will suspend mode and the host goes into maintenance mode. On the GUI in Vcenter we get a message that a migration will not work in the current state. Due to the fact that the message is in German, there's not so much sence to post it here, I guess.

Background is, we have two or three guests time in different places. Two locations in separate buildings, with separate power supply and separate UDP for this purpose.

So if a location powerd down the udp Protocol must stop the hosts in this place and the virtual machines have to migrate over.

SVMotion is not necessary, the SAN is a unit of mirroring automatc.

Please take a look at Re: scripted Maintenance Mode to see if that helps.

  • I've set up the virtual machine in win 7 Ultimate and put some data. Now when I try to connect it asks password and does not accept any password.

Default password Machine virtual XP Mode

I've set up the virtual machine in win 7 Ultimate and put some data. Now when I try to connect it asks password and does not accept any password. Please giveme the default password

If you're talking about XP Mode the default password is XPMUser.  In general you can not use Windows without a password in Windows Virtual PC that you can with Virtual PC 2007 and before.  XPMUser is used only with the XP Mode virtual machine.  All other virtual machines requires a user created password.  If you have changed the password in XP Mode and forgotten, then you have to start over.

Windows Virtual PC is based on virtual server rather than VPC and all virtual machines need a password.  If necessary, uninstall the integration features, start the virtual machine and create a password for the admin user.  Restart the virtual machine, and then reinstall the integration features.  You will not be able to access a virtual machine created by the user that has no password, while the integration features are installed.  Once you have everything right, that a virtual machine will not be asked a password if you are the admin user in Windows 7.

  • Unable to connect to use Windows XP mode on a Virtual Machine, cannot share files between the Virtual Machine and host

Because of the need to run some XP programs, I ordered Win7 Pro and installed a Virtual Machine with XP Mode.

Managed to get it going somehow, but does not connect to my home network (can't see any other computers, which seems to be common with the host of Win 7, but here, I managed to install quick links to other computers - they will not work in XP Mode), even if the Internet connection is working perfectly.

In addition, I can't find a way to share files with the host country, drive C appears to be different from that of the hosts with no common points (where it is currently stored beats me).

I can access a USB key, but only at a price to make it unavailable to the host and the attempt to release his capture when running XP Mode failed.

  • Virtual machine 2007 Using scanner/printer

I'm not a savvy computer person and try to solve a problem. I have a HP scanner that I love, but is not compatible with Vista (no), so after trying a number of workarounds that does not, I stumbled upon the 2007 virtual computer. I got it up and running, Windows 98, added connected my scanner and printer with their drivers and thought that my prayers have been answered. Then my scanner icon in the status bar was a red cross through it. I then read that VM 2007 has no USB support. I use a "USB adapter for 25-pin parallel printer Cable" for my scanner and printer. I have other options here? I really want to throw my scanner. Thanks a lot for any advice.

  • Cursor is to select all (select mode forced) and I can not type - Windows 7 on a virtual machine

    Hi all

I'm working on a Microsoft Virtual Machine, in the middle of a laboratory. (So I don't want to restart the whole machine - tho I'm and restarting all applications on the machine.)  the problem: my cursor selects all as my pointer moves on the screen of any Windows application is open. I've been using SQL Server Management Studio 2012, but the same is occurrin in Excel 2010. This translates into not being able to type just something - it destroys the stuff I already typed, obvviously, since it is the selection of stuff, I don't want to not selected.  I tried to hit the ESC key already. I looked with settings for sticky keys and toggle keys, and none of them seem to apply. I can't understand what I enabled and how to return to the normal insert mode. I searched help and there is nothing on the SELECTION MODE.

    Help!

    Thank you

SHIFT + S got me off the problem - she did replace the text with a capital S so I guess all I had to do was something like, followed by a cancellation to get my back text that has been deleted by typing something. That took me to be stuck in mode 'selection '. I don't have the problem anymore.

  • I get an error "the disk hard virtual parent is in a saved state. Discard the saved state or stop the virtual machine and try again. "during the installation of XP mode.

I have Win7 Pro SP1 x 64.  I downloaded WindowsXPMode_en - us.exe (from Microsoft downloads) and run it.  The installation seems to work OK (I've specified a different location for the parent virtual hard disk file).  Then, installation happening and I provide the information requested (name of user and password for the XP Mode), updates Windows and OK to the issue of sharing.  The installation program then reports the following error:

The disk hard virtual parent is in a saved state.  Discard the saved state or stop the virtual machine and try again.

I get the error even if I try manually configure XP Mode (use the Setup Wizard).  I downloaded the installer XPMode (3 times) and reinstalled several times, always with the same result.  If it helps, I can't locate anywhere .vsv file.

    Any idea what's going on?

  • Is it possible to use a virtual machine like XP Mode to use a driver that is incompatible with Windows 7?

The driver is for a former Lego Mindstorms USB IR Tower. The device itself appears in Windows 7, but there is no drivers compatible with a 64 bit version of Windows 7 or Windows Vista. I know with certainty that the driver is compatible with XP SP 2 and a 32-bit version of Vista, and it could be compatible with a 32-bit installation of Windows 7.

I have XP Mode, set up on Windows 7 64 bit machine, but the unit will not go through to the virtual machine. I read on another forum that if the driver of a measuring device is not compatible with Windows 7 the device does not appear in the virtual machine.

Is there a workaround that doesn't involve using a separate XP machine or installation of XP on a virtual machine of third party such as Oracle?

Don't know if this will work in your situation, but you can disable checking 'signed' driver for Win7
in the start menu. Jut tap F8 during Windows startup, and then choose-
Disable the Driver Signature Enforcement among the startup options.

When you run a VM guest in headless mode I can't use vmrun to get IP clients. If I eventually bring to the top/start the merger GUI, the command returns the IP address as planned. It is always reproducible.

I tested with open-vm-tools and tools VMware packaged with the merger and the behavior is the same. I also spoke with others on the channel of freenode #vmware who have confirmed that the problem exists for users of workstation as well.

    Hi danandham,

Welcome in the vmware community. Iyou s really a problem, we try to fix it.

After a command, you can use as a workaround:

    vmrun t fusion getGuestIPAddress "path/to/MyVMs.vmx" - wait

  • Will be the virtual machine starts on another host (during the blackout) if he can't switch to Maintenance Mode?

    Hello

We use a cluster with 2 5.1 ESXi hosts.  When attempting to place an ESXi host in Maintenance mode, he failed and said "not enough resources to satisfy configured level of failover for HA.

We would like to know, just in case where one of these ESXi hosts failed, VMs will be start on another ESXi host (at least some) or all of them will be down (i.e. None of them start)?  If no virtual machine will be migrated, we will change our level of failover for HA.

    Thank you

This occurs when you enable admission control on your HA cluster. When the failure of the host occurs and you have Admission control is enabled, it will let all market on the other host machines because it violates the constraints of availability.

If you turn this off all VM is switched even if you do not have enough resources to accommodate all the s VM on a single host. On a long term, I would say that you have sufficient resources to allow this to happen. But for now, you can turn it off and try.

Can join a Cluster of storage disk out of Maintenance DTS Mode to set up the profiles for a virtual machine storage policies?...

IE can you define the rules of affinity DTS depending on how the rules of storage of profiles are configured for a virtual machine?

In my mind it seems there is disconnect from the DTS and storage profiles.

    Thank you.

    = NOTE =.

My lab at home, 2 organizes running ESXi 5.0

    Dv01 has

    Of startup vmfs 7200 RPM 160 G = dv01-BOOT

    Vmfs 1 TB 7200 RPM = VM02-VMFS

    VM02 has

    Of startup vmfs 7200 RPM 160 G = VM02-BOOT

    Vmfs 1 TB 7200 RPM = VM02-VMFS

    Vmfs 5900 RPM 2 TB = VM02-TV01

I have (3) facility profiles of storage using 'User-defined storage Capablity' as shown below:

    (160 @ 7200 RPM SATA) boot > Boot

    Fast (160 7200 RPM SATA and 1 TB @ 7200 RPM SATA) > fast

    Slow (2 TB @ 5900 RPM SATA) > slow

Then, I set up a storage Cluster with my local disks on dv01 (only to date)

LocalVM disc dv01-BOOT and dv01-VMFS disk of the 'cluster of storage.

I have a computer virtual called DC01 (HardDisk1) want to live on 'Boot' profile storage drive
His "Non-compliant" poster according to the storage profile, it should run on drive 'boot' on dv01

To get to this point, I put the StorageCluster in Mode of Maintenace 'DTS' and forced a sVmotion of all virtual machines off dv01-BOOT

No disks are IO or claim of space.

But once I take the 'DTS Maintenacne mode' STARTUP dv01 floppy is now get the DTS to return him to satisfy the storage profile (rule) I install... IE do the 'storage profile' VM complient (without doing a few externall API, the PS script or the 3rd party software calls)... ??

Seems weird it is (or may be) such disconnection of a memory of the profiles and the StorageClusters and the DTS?

    Thank you...

At this point, I think that storage DRS and storage profiles are two technologies to separate and work independently, but what you suggest is a great idea-
