Photoshop CS3 - Photo opens very slow

Right so I have an interesting that I hope someone can help me with... I have Adobe Photoshop CS3 (I know, a little behind).  I use CS3 since it's out and love - however recently and unfortunately I have not all time real framework on top of my head, it's incredibly slow to open the pictures.

In general I drag and drop a picture from my files in Adobo to start my editing based on the photos that I have seen fit to change.  The images come from a Canon T2i - I have them dump on my local HARD drive, then move the photos I want to edit in Photoshop.  The average file size is about 7 MB, so they are not huge.  Now when I open the pictures, it takes, on average, about a minute and a half per image to open it.  Meanwhile, Adobe is inadmissible as in menus, navigation, etc... -I can minimize and optimize, it doesn't freeze or anything like that.  He's here as he tries to open these photos (no more time using 3% CPU).  It opens finally them, no errors.

This problem occurs if I drag drop in photoshop, open the file menu, be they RAW, JPEG, GIF, PNG, PSD images, size 10 MB or 10 KB in size, etc...

I know that's not the system, everything works great.

The system is Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, 8 GB Ram, dual core (1.86 ghz each), dual nVidia GeForce GTX 275 (512 MB) graphics card video cards that are running with the latest drivers from nVidia in the process.

The system is installed on a Western Digital 10 000 rpm HARD drive and I have 6 TB of hard disks (internal SATA) where my files are stored.  I would be hard-pressed to believe that if it is the system.

I can play graphics intensive games seedless, run Microsoft ICE for sewing in image (without hesitation) and discharge/editing HD videos without problems in Sony Vegas Video.

I tried to reset Adobe Photoshop by doing CTRL + ALT + SHIFT while the loading and complete to reset.  I turned all the effects of Windows 7 (although this issue has never happened before when I got Windows 7 since the launch).  I put the Photoshop.exe the priority in the Task Manager, allotted 88% RAM to it through preferences of Adobe and made sure both processors get the attention it.  Still nothing.

Someone at - it experience this before?  Apart from uninstalling and reinstalling (what's next) - I don't see anything else...

Just to be clear, do you have a command prompt of Photoshop confirming the removal of preferences?  I ask because sometimes people think they have done a reset without seeing this dialog box, and this is not the case.  You must be VERY fast to get Photoshop to notice that you press these keys during startup.  If it does not prompt you, you weren't fast enough.

Other things to think about:

  • Is your default printer in offline mode?  Is there any printer installed in your system that is in offline mode?
  • You install the Twain driver, but a scanner is enabled disabled or missing?
  • Are there set up network drives, but the network resource is offline or unreachable?
  • What 3rd third party plug-ins you have installed in Photoshop?  Is it possible of them does not initialize correctly?

  • Photoshop CS3 for Windows very slow

I use Photoshop CS3 on a Windows Vista Help. He got a quick bicoeur processor. In the last couple months Photoshop started to run so slowly that it is virtually unusable. I have reset the preferences again. I brought up the RAM in the PC from 2 GB to 4, and offered no relief. I allocated more RAM to Photoshop. Nothing did.

I reached a breaking point today and spent a whole day of troubleshooting. I have concluded that it is a problem with the installation of Photoshop, asking way too much space to work. For example, when I open a 2.5meg file on this computer, it requires 3.6 GB of disk space to work. When I opened the same exact file on another machine, you must only 95 megs of disk space to work. I more than 4 GB of available disk space for the use of disk work on the affected machine, but the fact that it is done all this reading and writing to a disk hard kill the performance of the application.

Of course, there is a problem with the installation of the software. I tried to reinstall, and it does not help.

I called Adobe tech support line, and they don't touch this questions. They wanted me $39 to even hear what the problem was and said that they were not sure they could solve any problem - load especially one like that - after accepting the payment. (So, why would I give them a credit card number?) They suggested I post here instead. (Uh, great support strategy, huh?) I'm a little frustrated, if you can't tell...)

OK, so off the complainant now. Ideas for what I can do - short clamping this PC and buy a new one to reinstall on?

Yet one thing I might add that could lead a thought for someone. When I launch Photoshop, the boot process hangs for about 2 minutes on the stage where the application is 'reading preferences.'

I assume that already reset you your preferences as described in the FAQ.  http://forums.Adobe.com/thread/375776?TSTART=0

You must physically delete (or rename) the preference files or, if you use the Alt, Ctrl, and shift, don't forget you get a confirmation dialog box.

This resets all settings in Photoshop default.

Another source of slowness can be no local printers or on the "recent" list files that are on the network drives.

  • Photos opens very small 6-8%

Photos opens suddenly very small 6-8%, regardless of the image size (pixels/resolution). It also happens when I start a new, regardless of what size/resolution I chose for the new image. It is PS CS6 on Mac OS 10.11.6

I would try a reset preferences.

    Hold cmd-opt-shift and run Photoshop.

When he was asked to delete the settings file, choose "Yes" and let Photoshop finishes loading.

Let me know if that clears the problem.

  • Photoshop cs3 will open jeg, but files not raw for k3 pentax cameras.  Can you please help.

Photoshop cs3 does not open raw (PEF) for cameras pentax k3 files, can you please help?

    Hi Davet,

In order to open Pentax K-3 RAW files in Photoshop, you must at least Camera Raw 8.3 and above.

However Photoshop CS3 will be unable to update until that Camera Raw 8.3

Then I suggest you download DNG Converter, convert the PEF files to the DNG file format, and then use in Photoshop.

  • Disk defrag works not, taskmanager no opening, very slow downing load anything

I've had problems with my computer for a while now and I don't know what else to do now, I'm trying this.  I sent this computer in Bridge 2 times now and this looks at what could be the third if I can't get all the answers.  The problems I have been having always start when I first try to defrag my computer.  It takes forever to defragment. I started it at 09:00 and it was not yet done at 20:00. I finally stopped him at 21:00 and it just sitting there like it was stuck.  now my task manager does not open and I can't get this thing to download something, including the microsoft fixit tools.  I am very frustrated.  I downloaded all execept serivce Pack 2 updates and this thing is everything to date.  any help would be great.

Installation of the Service Pack 2 - that is where I would start. You say that you have downloaded all the updatesexcept this one, so with that one being later, it should correct a little (apart from a virus, etc.). An application that will help you realize what lack us isBelarc Advisor . I love it, because it produces a file html (on your own computer), and once it loads in your browser, you can print it out and have a list of all installed on your computer - and it includes what Microsoft Updates are installed and missing, with the version numbers for all of this. And it's free. :-)

I'll make sure that Windows Defender runs, as a bare minimum (I thought Windows Security Essentials, being in agreement, but I uninstalled it because it made my Vista boot slowly and returned to the Defender). Vista is quite safe, however. If you buy a commercial product, I recommend Kaspersky (I don't use it myself, because I download a lot and I'm careful, but my mother has it on his computer and she's in all Big Fish Games and so on and got a nasty on her own a bit... virus) Until Kasperky was installed and took care of that - now it catches everything (so far)).

Virus and others can make Windows run slowly. I've seen all kinds - some file after file replication, increasing the number and size of the files, the names of some really stealth and switching. But if it is not a virus that slows down your computer, it is really likely to be fragmented files. In this case, I would recommend Auslogics Disk Defrag . It's free and FAST.  You can defragment with a new and also OPTIMIZE files so that things run faster. Any defragger will take more time with the bigger hard drives. Windows Defrag takes too long. So doesn't the defragmenter in Advanced SystemCare 3(so uncheck the Defragmenter option if you run this, BUT I recommend highly this program because it will clean a lot of things for the better - remember do not check the boxes in the window popup resulting for the module of security... unless you know what you're doing , because not all these (Browser Helper Objects, etc.) are a problem. This program also includes a fixer shortcut, an application that allows you to see what programs are running at startup and much more. One of the best I've seen, and I used it for a few years now without a problem.

These last two linked above will go a long way toward acceleration and optimization of your system. I run these two first and then restart. SystemCare has three main sections of things that can be run - she is really well organized. It "takes the trash", in other words. :-) It will get rid of unwanted files and increase the speed and solve common registry problems (something I was initially uncertain about when I got it, but after a few years, it was no concern - it cleans things upwards, and unlike other programs of registry).

Another possibility: according to how you have set aside for virtual memory, if you get close to maxing out your hard disk space, you might find yourself in a situation where the computer is both need to write a lot on the drive and need more space, or space dedicated to virtual memory (I call it "the garbage area" where she must write and write about things older in this area) (as things are processed - this is temporary memory). Bottom line: If you are short on space and don't know what to do about virtual memory (and people use virtual memory to compensate for the fact that they do not have a lot of RAM |) Memory to play with), then let the system choose automatically the drive. To set it, you go to computer (aka My), right click and select Properties, and then when the system properties, click Advanced, then settings of Performance, then advanced once, then, virtual memory, select change. You can select automatic for ALL your drives, OR that the management system of the size for the selected drive. All readers do not have to have it, but whatever you select whether by car, it will create this sandbox of virtual memory paging on the same drive. Editing plan that will be used by the system to write things. Check the recommended size it compared to what is currently assigned. To play it safe, go with the recommended or let the system handle. Virtual memory can increase the speed and performance.

I hope that these things help with some of your speed issues.

(Note: the not not opening Task Manager, tells me that it might be a virus on your system, in which case you could look in these free programs:EMCO Maleware Destroyer andEmsisoft Anti-Malware (formerly A2 Squared) (full analysis is thorough and takes some time, but there is a quick analysis).) Lavasoft Adware, SpwareBlaster, Spybot Search & Destroy are also good.

  • Slow to open the Images in Photoshop CS3

I just converted to win7 and installed PS CS3.  When I do an update check, there is no update for photoshop, so I believe that I am current.  If I open a jpg image via the file menu, or bridge, or using ACDSee, image files (or files) are slow to open.  If usually sees a message upward in the title bar of photoshop (where the logo is followed by "Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended") where it will briefly indicate "not responding".  It started with switch to win7.  It will take 20 seconds or more to open a jpg file and is not the giant files.

Under Options/performance, I indicated to let Photoshop use 1194 MB which is the upper part of the beach.  The range that photoshop shows as ideal never changes, regardless if photoshop is running alone or with other applications.  I indicated "scratch disks" on my drives E and C, with E being the first listed.  E have more than 500 GB of free space, and C has more than 190 GB free.  History States are 20 and cache is 6.  Settings for my NVidia GE Force 8800 video card GPU has activate verified 3D acceleration.

I don't know what else I'm supposed to optimize.  I never had this problem in vista using CS3.

This is a known bug and has been reported several times in the forum.

The solution, weird as it may seem, is to make a printer driver generic default printer.

If you do not, you can download it here: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=pdrv&platform=win

All part of the fascinating world of Photoshop CS3.

About the status of the update, in PS go to help > on to check the version. It should be 10.0.1.

    1 open Task Manager)

    (2) set the display to update slowly or paused

    (4) make right click the process and set the priority of Normal to high or maybe even in real time

  • Photoshop CS3 won't open in Windows 7 after works perfectly?

I just installed Windows 7, 32-bit version last month. I reinstalled all my programs, including InDesign and Photoshop CS3. InDesign does not work well. Photoshop CS3 worked fine until last week. One night Photoshop does not open! I have tried everything I can think of-removal of preferences (it took me three days to find out where he was, and Ctrl-alt-shift does not work) and delete a new program for playback of videos which was the only new program I had installed (just in case), then "repaired" the Photoshop using the original disk.

Finally managed to get into Photoshop BUT: everything is twisted - colors are off, PS tells me I only 1 600 MB of RAM, when I know that I have 2 GB installed, it seems really strange - everything is gray out checkerboard.

This is my third post on this issue - CAN someone HELP me?  I've been without my Photoshop for over a week, and desperately need to get that back. I'm just now getting back on track, trying to get my site, and al. After almost a year out of service due to a broken back and the computer crashed. Now, I have my computer back and can not use PHOTOSHOP!  Help!

In addition, my computer suddenly said "we had to go back to the basic Windows color scheme because there is a program that needs it (?), and then my office is all messed up. I can't get my color management back - in turn computer and turn it on again and then all is well. This always happens after trying to get into Photoshop.

Please send me an answer because it's getting very annoying and debilitating. ([email protected])

  • Cannot open the NIKON D3000 naves in Photoshop CS3

    Hello

We bought Photoshop CS3 to school HERE ion in the United Kingdom. I just bought a number of Nikon D3000 for students and raw images from Nikon D3000 will not open in Adobe Bridge, Camera Raw and Photoshop!

If anyone knows if there is a solution to this? A patch? a download? Otherwise, we will be limited to use JPEG files!

On another note, and total curiosity, we bought a number of cameras Nikon Coolpix P6000, which produces images that are not supposed to open in Adobe Bridge, Camera Raw, and Photoshop (Microsoft/Nikon collaboration!) but they do? Any ideas why this is so (as has said, it is curiosity!)

    Information would be welcome.

    Thank you very much

    Carl

Each device requires a conversion program to convert the specific program of the camera in RAW.  The cameras you mentioned need ACR 5.x to read.  Therefore, it can be done in CS3 as ACR 4.6 is the latest version.

However, all is not lost.  You can upgrade to CS4 or use the DNG Converter to read RAW images.
