  All of a sudden my printer (HP Photosmart 4580 series) stopped working with an incompatible cartridge error message. Foolishly, I took a cartridge and managed to damage it. • Unable to connect to Macbook Pro and Photosmart 4580 via Wi - Fi

  If you can browse the printer web page, then we know that the printer is on the network.   The next step is to try to try a simple test only print.  Go to System Preferences and go to the Print & Fax applet.  Press on the + to add a printer and you should be presented with a list of all the printers on your network.  Select the C4580 / Hello 'Use of Print' select HP Photosmart P1100 - Gutenprint v5.1.3 and press 'Add '.  Now check and see if you can print to the printer.

  The number of 4580 is an interesting question because we have 3 different models with this number.

  The Deskjet F4580, the J4580 Officejet and Photosmart C4580.

  Well, the answer is the same for all three models.  Your printer isn't compatible Airprint and can not be rendered compatible Airprint.

  The good news, as long as your HP printer wireless, it should work with HP ePrint home and Biz, which can be downloaded for free on the Apple App Store.  Your iPad should be fixed on the same local network as your HP printer.

  I just got a new Photosmart Plus B209 because my old 4580 died. I had the old printer put in place for the wireless connection, but the new Photosmart told me that the network is unavailable.   6. when the printer is connected to your wifi, re - connect your computer to your wifi and add the printer in system preferences > print & scan (click the sign '+' to add the printer).

  I just picked up my new 4580 Photosmart out of the box and think that I may have a problem.  Although I understand that the device works wirelessly OR via USB, I thought that it would support my config which is two PC wireless (laptop & netbook) AND my office that is connected via a cable to my wireless router.  I undestood what I could connect to the 4580 via the wireless router, but looking at the instructions I'm afraid that this is not possible.

  I would be grateful if someone could put me right before I waste hours trying to congure something that would never work!

  Any PC connected to the same network as the printer can use. Simply follow the instructions to install the printer wireless, and there should be no problem.

  Can you explain if this happens with all pages or only PDF files open with Firefox 29,0? If it's from PDF files, I have been informed that this a bug that will be fixed by an update published Friday morning time Pacific.

  A new firmware to restore the ePrint feature are available on hp.com, however it is currently available for MS Windows :

  I don't know if / when it wil become available for Mac OS, that's why I suggest you get a Windows PC and update of the printer, if you can have such an or can borrow a laptop to a member, family, etc.
