    I'm importing from a Canon Vixia HFS30; about 5 clips totaling about 1.5 hours from the internal HD cam.

    Each item is displayed in the browser, and it has a little icon of camera at the bottom left of the icon. Not all the cameras show that I noticed the icon. What is this icon

    import?  I'm not looking for import in the FCX help but nothing.

    The badge of the small camera means that the clip was not entirely imported.

    Connect the camera, select these clips with the badge and do file-> import-> import camera / Archive.

    I was so frustrated lately with the lack of support and the fact that I can't get the software to work.

    RESOLVED:

    After many days and many hours with the technical support of Canon, I found the culprit.

    In my settings on the Netgear router, I "control access" enabled.  While the camera is on the "allowed list", there was a conflict, and once the access control has been transformed from the device worked as expected.

    Those who tear out their hair out--check if your router has a similar feature.

  • Get data out of a dead A1409

    My 3 TB Time Capsule (model A1409) died this weekend.  I have no lights, but as many others have noted, the HD seems always spin.  But that's all.  I doubt that a power spike has taken, because it is behind a backup battery with surge protection system well, surge protection, etc..   That said, and to counter suggestions from iron soldering, I am not a probably being able to disassemble things, replaced components, etc...   Yet, I'm pretty disappointed by this failure.  And all of this leads me to two questions.

    The biggest question is this: has got apple any better quality/design on these things, or this time I should consider a backup drive and a wireless router not apple?  Right now, money IS a problem for me (sad to say), so if I invest, I want something that won't die because he is in power, or has flaws in design or components, etc..   I prefer to buy something I'll take later out of my network because the technology has evolved, not because he has not (make sense?)  What makes desirable TC, is the Nice packaging and ease of use.  But here, the story seems to suggest I COULD get 3 years out of one of them and then have to redo all.  Apple still cleaned his behavior on this product?   Is there a reason to believe that the latest generation of 3 TB TC is any more stable/reliable than older?

    A lot of electronics is now designed for a duration of 3 years... modems and routers for home use are at a price... as is the TC. It is not surprisingly when it works 24/7 in a box that is too small and with everything so close to the tolerance they fail after a few years... That's life in the throw away age. Cheap stuff that doesn't last.

    No, it's the same... but the current is well late replacement, so if you can maintain the broad do so.

    The cheaper alternative is a USB key that you plug into the Mac. It is more reliable and faster than a TC, but long term that bothers.

    The best replacement is a Synology NAS QNAP. You can buy the small version of 2 disc for say $200... and another $ 300 for drives... that puts the price of $500 for a basic model enough. You can buy cheaper single drive NAS as WD MyCloud that do not offer backup TM for a computer. It seems that people have problems with more than a backup. I use synology NAS now and he can back up several computers and has been reliable... However you should not think that it will last forever... the discs themselves are often the weakest link... and you may need to replace the discs after a few years.

    I have a camcoder Gigashot K40. When I copied the files on my PC, camcorder battery sat. I connected AC voltage, camcoder and continuous copy operation. After that I disconnected PC camera as usual.
    The problem started when I turned my camera next time. When I turn on camcoder, after 2-3 seconds, it entered in USB connection mode (but without text "Mode high speed USB" on the screen).

    Only way to enter normal mode for recording videos is pushing after lighting camcoder menu.
    I tried to do the soft reset, I pushed the RESET button, I tried to reload the firmware - but it does not help.
    Any ideas? I can solve the problem by myself or must I go to service?

  • Cannot take a picture with the Camileo X 100?

    After connecting my Camileo X 100 with the RCA connector to my LCD from LG TV, browsing through my images and possibly disconnect the camera, something strange happened.

    After I turned on the camera and tried to take a picture, nothing happened. I can't take a picture, turn a video, zoom in and out, or set the image and video preferences and settings. I can only navigate through the pictures and videos I took before. It seems that my camera is stuck in the same mode, when it was connected to my TV.

    I removed the battery several times and nothing. The only button that responds is the play button, and trying to take a picture, only the square (white, green, or red) is shown. Please, help :(

    I have a gateway 831GM Intel (r) Pentium (r) 4 CPU 3.00 GHz 3.00 GHz, 3 GB of Ram under Windows XP 2002 SP3.  I installed Microsoft Lifecam Studio camera (part No.: Q2F-00001) and had no problems with it.  Used a Sunday for Skype and Monday when I tried to open Skype and Microsoft Lifecam the message - "there no camera connected to this computer."  I noticed that the blue on the camera lights at all.  I have disconnected the camera, reinstalled hardware, the driver updated and rebooted (all combinations of each process).  Am I missing something or is my camera old 2 months already undesirable?  As a first time - disappointed camera buyer.

    I had the same problem. First of all Uninstall Kodak Easyshare, then go to Control Panel/Performance Maintenance, system, hardware, Device Manager. Go down to USB controllers, find your camera, uninstall it, then disconnect your camera. Connect again. Turn your camera on and it shoud install itself.

    Because this motherboard (ASUS P5Q SE2), uses VIA VT1708S 8 - channel High-Definition Audio CODEC.

    And my PCI Firewire card is also VIA - according to Device Manager. It is running Vista. If I connect my DV cam (which has a mini-port FW on it), then turn it on, the entrance FW in Device Manager says there is a problem. But if I disconnect the cam, then restart, the FW entrance goes back to normal. I've seen this prob before, where someone else had the same prob (but firewire was aboard).

    I tried updating the FW driver through the Device Manager, but there isn't a newer driver available. I know that the FW card is fine. It was in my mobo previously (P5Q SE/R), which uses the Realtek ALC 1200, 8 - channel high definition Audio CODE, without going through. So, any ideas on how to resolve this conflict?

    Looks like I found the prob / cause. ASUS drivers Via for the sound. The latest version from the ASUS site

    I uninstalled them so I use the audio drivers by default Vista. The sound and the FW work. I plugged the cam DV again, made windows sound and it connected right away. Must be something in the audio drivers causing the conflict (such as an address / IRQ entry or something in the inf file).

  • Windows Live Messenger does not

    Live messenger worked without any problems until about 3-4 days ago on my laptop.
