• Routing of PIX VPN site to Site?

  I just configured my PIX to establish VPN site to site with my Linksys (1710 to follow).

  Looks like my SA and IPSec are set up, but I get no routing. When I do a tracert, my PIX transmits all traffic to my internet router and not through the tunnel.

  Any ideas?

  I saved a recovery media on a 32 GB USB flash drive. Recovery media occupies only about 10 GB to 32 GB flash disk.

  It is not recommended that you store other files on a USB flash drive or use it as a Windows ReadyBoost device. You can use for these functions, but you run the risk of corrupting the image of HP recovery.

  You are limited to these two. The reason is because it is more generic "web proxy" will do only a transfer decision based on the traffic flowing through the interfaces of the proxy itself. Url filtering process is unique because the url server sends instructions specific to return to the firewall as to block traffic or not and if yes what to refer the user to, for example a page blocked, etc..

  Nevertheless, I would like to do a factory reset a trial. My question is what exactly is the point? I includes files such as doc, pix, vids will be erased; applications too. It actually restores all system files or is it more like a band-aid that corrects the errors?

  If there are better options what is it?

• Active FTP problem between Checkpoint and Cisco PIX

  I am facing a strange problem.

  Many of our customers have achieved a Checkpoint FW-1/VPN-1 4.1 SP6 (the last before NG). When they try to connect to an FTP server that is located behind a Cisco PIX firewall, they are not able to transfer data: the connection is established, the authentication to follow, but at the stage of the 'LIST' the connection 'freeze' and the user must close the FTP client.

  Users are facing this problem ONLY in Active mode: passive mode works very well. Turn passive mode FTP client isn't acceptable workaround for most of my clients.

  The problem seems to be related only to the firewall Cisco PIX and active FTP.

  Please, what is someone encountered the same problem?

  Yes it is a (global) problem, even with the last checkpoint firewalls. What happens with Active FTP, it's that each command (get, list, etc.) causes another log on the client (source port) to the server on port 21. If you run netstat from the customer you can check this for yourself.

  What normally happens, with HTTP, FTP, telnet, which have are, it's that the client makes a connection to port 21, 23 etc then returns with a port source such as 1936, 1980, 3000, etc..

  Connect problem with statefull firewall is they do not allow multiple sessions control port number on a destination, as well as a source port can be bound to a destination port, in this case, 21 for FTP. I Don t see it changed, an extreme security risk any time soon, since it s, someone else might be hopping session and block this type of traffic, it's what the stateful firewall are all about and FTP servers are problably the machines more pirated on the planet.

  You´ve mentioned the workaround solution, unfortunately that s the only way, change your passive customers, I think that Unix/Linux customers have a problem with this, change your FTP server can also help, there are multiple servers that can be configured to disable Active FTP, I wouldn know exactly, I only network & firewall... maybe someone else can move on this...

  First of all, make sure that the VPN connection works correctly when the remote PC is NOT behind a PIX. If that works fine, but then breaks when put behind a PIX, it is probably that the PIX is PAT, which usually breaks IPSec. Add the following command on your PIX VPN client is behind:

  fixup protocol esp-ike

  NAT - T is a standard for the encapsulation of the UDP packets inot IETF IPSec packets.

  ESP IPSec (Protocol that use your encrypted data packets) is an IP Protocol, it is located just above IP, rather than being a TCP or UDP protocol. For this reason, it has no TCP/UDP port number.

  A lot of features that make the translation of address of Port (PAT) rely on a single to PAT TCP/UDP source port number ' ing. Because all traffic is PAT would be at the same source address, must be certain uniqueness to each of its sessions, and most devices use the port number TCP/UDP source for this. Because IPSec doesn't have one, many features PAT fail to PAT it properly or at all, and the data transfer fails.

  NAT - T is enabled on both devices of the range, they will determine during the construction of the tunnel there is a PAT/NAT device between them, and if they detect that there is, they automatically encapsulate every IPSec packets in UDP packets with a port number of 4500.   I am trying to connect the cisco 4.0 vpn client to a worm of pix 515 6.1 and receive as a result of errors that I guess are the related hashing algorithm but am not sure. Only DES is not enabled 3DES. Config output Cisco post interprets but apparently no error in config.

  Pix isakmp policy should have DES, MD5, and group 2 for the 4.x to connect Cisco VPN client, these are proposals that the client sends to the server...

  Are there tricks to watch when upgrading a Ethernet card single port in a Pix 515E to port 4 (4FE-66). We are @ version 6.1 (2). We have a VPN accelerator card in one of the slots. The single NETWORK card in the other. When I out and replace it with the new 4FE all interfaces on this card will be judgment by default? What I've read, it seems I have to reactivate the interface Ethernet2.

  What of all the other parameters configuration Ethernet2? They will remain intact in the config?

  IP address

  IP Failover

  Global

  NAT

  group-access

  public static

  Also when I set up the above to my (my 2nd DMZ) Ethernet3 I can enter the configuration in the order above?

  Hi Dave,.

  The configuration for Ethernet2 must simply transfer to the new card. The PIX will start with the commands to configure Ethernet2 map of four ports, including allowing it. It is then just a matter of configure ports again if required.

  On the 4fe ports are numbered from left to right. Far left is Ethernet2.
