  • Why Firefox keep changing my perefence for Google as an eingine search for tabs and the Yahoo homepage?

I am a user of Firefox 40.0.03. I put Google as a homepage of my start page and tabs. Lately, Firefox has started taking the freedom to change my preferences from Google to Yahoo preferences. In the last two days, I changed the setting from Yahoo to Google at least 10 times. But whenever I have shut down my system, Yahoo goes Google. I checked my system for any mischievous adware and Add-ons, but there are not.
I don't want to use Yahoo. Is it a policy of Firefox to push Yahoo down our throats?

Note: Some software, like Advanced SystemCare with surf Protection, can protect the files in the folder of Firefox profile against the changes. If you have this software, then check the settings or uninstall this software.

  • In HKEY_USERS\ Shell folders values. By DEFAULT keeps changing

I have a screen saver application (Google Photo Sideshow) which seems to look at the value AppData Local stored in the registry of the user Shell folders key in defining its cache folder, which is in turn the location of the XML file that tells it where to find pictures. (Sorry, I know that was complicated).  Anyway, I also wanted to set the screen saver to the Windows login screen in the HKEY_USERS\. DEFAULT registry section.

My problem is that the values stored in the Shell folders for it. DEFAULT profile continues to change.  Sometimes they point to C:\Documents and default User\... and sometimes they change to C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\... and sometimes the fair white value out completely.

Can someone tell me what controls the values stored in this folder, and why they keep changing?  The user Shell folders paths all remain constant with % USERPROFILE%\...  I searched for this answer for weeks and can't seem to find someone who can tell me why these values change according to what rules they changes, etc...

Any help would be greatly appreciated... :)

  • It is April 2013, so why the date change to January 2002 it is restarted each time?

Why my computer keep changing the date of January 2002 it is restarted each time?   Several times I manually put it in April 2013 with time zone (GMT-05:00) Eastern time (United States and Canada &).  But on reboot it goes back to the year 2002.  I have Windows XP Home edition.

Oh no! I had not thought of that. If the default BIOS is happened to run on now.  Once I replaced the c - mos battery should I search and download a BIOS update?

More modern computers don't need a battery to maintain their settings or be reconfigured when the battery is changed.  That's why this battery is more precisely called the RTC (Real Time Clock) battery.

It is sometimes known as the CMOS battery because it is the type of memory (Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor) in what settings that the BIOS needs used to be saved.  Nowadays, these settings are saved in another type of 'no volatile random access memory' (NVRAM memory) that does not need a battery to maintain memory.

In the old days (maybe also recently when Win95 was running), electronics is not able to detect the type of HDD to use (and possibly other materials) and configurations should be set manually. Because the CMOS memory does need a battery to maintain, when the battery is dead, you need to reset these configurations.

  • whenever I turn on my computer the time & date changed

Every time I turn on my computer the hour and the date has changed. It started a few months ago and I have tried everything I can think. How can I stop this problem!

There is a battery on the motherboard.  It is called / known as the "cmos battery".

Like all batteries, when it becomes weak then he cannot supply.   In this case, a low cmos battery / exhausted will not keep time.  Even when the computer is disconnected from the wall socket, the battery is designed to provide power and maintain the internal clock of the computers.

The cmos battery is like a watch battery and can be purchased where they sell watches.

Check the internet for instructions on changing the cmos battery.   With regard to the size / model battery, you can find it listed in your computer manual, online manual for your computer or battery iteself.

  • My date and time keeps going back to an earlier date and makes dificult to start. my computer.

My current date and time keeps coming back at a date and time that is earlier and I have to stop and restart several times.

According to my experience, this could probably be 1 of 2 things...

The first thing that could cause this problem is an infection.  Have you had a chance to run an antivirus program to scan your system for infections?  You currently have no antivirus installed software / protect your system?

The second thing it could be is a dying CMOS battery.  If you are using a desktop computer, change the battery should be a quick troubleshooting step to see if this solves the problem... If you use a laptop computer, he might need time to disassemble the laptop and replace the battery.

  • Date and time keep needing to be changed

I set the date and time and save them, but although I turned off correctly every time, when I use the computer, then the date was restored on January 1, 2006, and I have to reset it again.  I also download Adobe Flash 10 whenever I use YouTube.  What I am doing wrong?  Thank you very much

Looks like your CMOS battery has failed.

It's a room-size, trickle battery in your motherboard that keeps your system settings when your computer is turned off.

It costs about $5 to replace.

Acrobat 9 is not compatible with the current operating system, which is probably the reason why they don't support you, but they still let you know if your s/n is valid or not... Try to contact them again and ask for this information.

When click on firefox on my desktop that a message appears to ask me if I will allow firefox to make changes to my computer. It happens every time. each page is also all pixelated and barely visible. the Explorer IS NOT to do THIS.

A possible cause of this message, it is that Firefox is configured to run as administrator.

Make sure that Firefox is not set to run as administrator.
Right click on the desktop Firefox shortcut and choose "Properties".

Make sure that all items are disabled in the tab "Compatibility" in the Properties window.

    • Privilege level: "Run this program as Administrator" should not be selected
    • "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" must not be selected
