Planning the Migration of applications - 11.1.1.3 to 11.1.2.2

Hello gurus,

Could you please help me with the high level steps on the applciation 11.1.1.3 to 11.1.2.2 planning migration

1. I've done installing 11.1.2.2 in new servers, audited and everything works as expected.

Now, I want to move planning request 11.1.1.3 to 11.1.2.2 environment through LCM. Is it possible to migrate different versions? If so, what are the high level steps?

Thank you so much in advance!

LCM is not generally supported between different versions.

If you followed the install/config documentation through the method of support for upgrading to 11.1.2.2

It is possible to upgrade the application of planning by using the upgrade wizard, you can try using LCM if you wish.
The format of a user/group in LCM is probably similar, then you can try to use the csv export.

    Hello

If you are on version 11, you can use LCM.
If you use an earlier version 11, then you just need to do a search here for migration, that it has been repeated many times.

    Hello

I'll migrate planning application using LCM to the same environment and also prod DEV.
So if I want to migrate an application so should I create second app with the same name and same Plantype name?
Can I use different App name and name plantype for the second application?

    Thanks in advance.

You can migrate applications at the same time, but they are few in number:

  • Planning the migration of BR using schema

    Hi all

I have EMP 11.1.2.1 and I am planning to migrate global variable, projects, BR, sequence locations, clusters of SCENE to env PROD. Can you please let me know if I copy the application planning STEP Prod in RDBMS schema will it migrate all objects of my BR prod instead of using LCM or export and import from EAS.

    Appreciate your help.

I assume you mean business EAS rules, they are stored in the repository of EAS RDBMS.

You have the following options import/export of EAS use LCM or migrate the repository, as documented in the migration of the repository

  • Planning the migration tool of LCM

We need to migrate artifacts from Dev to test and Prod using LCM. I know that we migrate entire application and objects using LCM. But
May be the only Forms data migration and business of Dev, Test, prob rule. I want to say that we have about 25 forms of data in planning Dev environment. I just need to migrate these forms of Dev to Prod, only data do not form for the entire application. Maybe do?

I also watch thiis OBE on link but question remain same

Yes for partial migrations, you can certainly migrate some parts of your application, such as calc scripts, data forms, business, outlines rules, etc. You need to expand the artifacts and select only those that you want to migrate.

  • Planning the migration

    Hello

We plan to make the migration for the purposes of planning version 11.1.1.1.3. My question is how many ways we can do planning of migration, and what is the best way?

    Thanks in advance.

LCM will migrate all objects for example web forms, lists etc, it will migrate essbase objects but not data prior to version 11.1.2
If you use this method, you don't have to copy the relational database of planning applications.

If you use the method of copy of database relationship as it takes all the planning through application at once, there is no side essbase.

  • related to the scheme of planning export/backup before you plan the migration of the app.

    Hello

I need to take backup of the schema before planning the planning application migration - (from 9.3.1 to 9.3.1)

    (1) should all services of Hyperion be run? for cssexportimport and backup scheme?

    (2) means import/export schema that we linked to datasource/individual application?

    (3) if we copy the SID of the target before the restoration of the schema and then we store SID after that restoration of the scheme will be would it still managed (as I don't know I can check the owner of an application for the source server).

    (4) should stop the services prior to the restoration of the scheme?

If both users on source and target are named admin and the owner of the application, then you don't need to worry.
To be honest, if they are both the administrator account by default hyperion same pointless to store the SID, as it's a standard value.

When I do the migration Planning Business Rule between environments, can tell me how to migrate sites and Clusters between environment? I only see (Global Variable, Macros, projects, rules and sequences) for export in LCM

    Thanks for you advise.

If they are business EAS rules you also have the ability to export/import originating in EAS - import and export

    Just give it a go.

In my opinion I don't like the CopyApp utility and it fell at least in version 11, some people have had success with it, that's just my opinion but you can have a good experience with it.
You must give it a try and see if it's good for you, it isn't copy business rules

  • Planning the migration of 9.3.3 to 11.1.2.3

We currently have a project migrating our 9.3.3 existing environments of planning/Essbase 11.1.2.3 again the test environments.  So far all works well, however, we were invited to patch 11.1. 2.3 to 11.1.2.3.500 and I was curious to know if this can cause problems if we need to copy something the 9.3.3 environment.

Yes, it should be the same process.

  • Planning the migration from DAS to iscsi SAN

    Hello

We have a physical server running 6 VM ESX 3.5 (1 win SBS 2003 and linux 5) local SAS disks

    It's a 2xquad core clocked at 2.66 GHz dell

now, let's add a second physical server (dell 2xquad core at 2.5 Ghz) and an ISCSI SAN: we would like to install ESXi on the second server and move all VMs on iscsi storage, so if the first server goes down in a few minutes we can manually set up the other to run all virtual machines (we are a small company and at present cannot afford the company/vmotion license).

I ask for advice because we would virtualize an old physical terminal so win2003 Server (with 10-15 users, mainly working with MS office applications) using the second new physical server.

This is the first time that we install a SAN (it's a dell MD300i with 10 disks 146 GB SAS, 5-disc SATA 1 TB for backup and snapshots) and we want to get the best performance out of it. Read the other posts, I understand that the discs are very important in a server virtualization terminal server and having good performance out of it.

So, with this type of SAN and our workload, we should define a unique group of 5disk RAID with 9 discs and 1 hot spare, with a large ramdisk on it to create one or more data VMFS stores?

or is it better to create 2 disk groups:

-1 with two RAID1 disks for terminal server VM

-1 with seven discs RAID5 for all other VM

with a global hot spare disk?

other general suggestions for migration, we will do?

    Thanks in advance

    Guido

Yes, it's what I would do.

    Migrating Planning 4.1 planning 11.1.3

We directly need it 3.5.1 a 11.1.1.3 or do we still have to take the way 3.5.1 to 9.3.x to 11.1.1.3.

Please inform me about this migration.

    EW says:
    NOPE

And to be honest you probably don't want even if it existed. There are so many things under the bridge that came with the tool that you should watch full review

Are you so sure with your reply NOPE. I've been involved in a number of migration like that. The software can be upgraded, but the demand is certainly, btw I'm not saying this is the way to go just that it is possible.

  • 3850 MC to planning the migration of 5760 MC

Last summer, we have deployed 15 3850 as mobility controllers in various buildings throughout our campus. We now have additional funds for the purchase of a pair of high availability of 5760. I'm trying to plan how best to access point 3850 closet controllers stand-alone has a 5760 centralized, with interim of the 3850 mobility agents. It is the sequence that I came up with this day - 1. create a dns entry with CISCO-CAPWAP-CONTROLLER to resolve the address of the new 5760 thus access points can find new mobility controller. 2. add sufficient licenses to the 5760 to move the existing populations of AP 3850's. 3 reconfigure the 3850's mobility agents. Is there something that I am on? When I change the role of the MC's 3850 to MY, the attached AP will reboot and find the 5760? Or change the role of the 3850 will require a reboot which will the AP by restarting and discover the new 5760? We also first 2.0, is there a way this can be automated with templates? We also have a 5508 still in service with about 50 1142 that ap attached to it. We bought the 3850's as well as new 2602 and run two parallel wireless networks. Should we remove the 5508 or upgrade code and let in service as an additional mobility controller? Please ask if more information to answer.

    Hello

    A few suggestions

    1. even if you change features of MC between 3850 and 5760 CAWPAP tunnel still terminate on MY. If no point change DNS or DHCP option 43 entry as AP CAPWAP will never come back & would end to 5760 (as long as AP to connect to MY). In CA deployment MC is required for operating license, MRR, mobility, etc. (do not close CAPWAP)

    2. I would say bring 5760 online with the necessary configuration (dynamic interfaces, SSID, etc.) and configure mobility with 3850. Then take a 3850 at a time & change its role to MY & pointing to 5760 as MC. 3850 should be reloaed when changing role. If your access point will be re - register to 3850, but license hang 5760 this time. Post below can give some advice

    http://mrncciew.com/2013/12/12/getting-started-with-5760/

    http://mrncciew.com/2013/12/14/3850ma-with-5760mc/

    3. with regard to 5508, upgrade to 7.6.110.0 (only supported the version that would allow "New mobility") & select "new mobility" feature. Then configure it an a peering with 5760 mobility controller. This will give the benefit of the customer of roaming between your deployment CUWN & CA configuration.

    4. If you want to remove 5508 & move 1142 to 5760, so you must point APs to 5760 as WLC (assuming the 1142 s are not connected to 3850MAs and they are related to classical switches)

    (2) how to do a checkup currently installed EBS 12.1.3.

I mean if I can show them that there is nothing wrong with the installation. Then we need to think about alternatives.

What about the issues? they are functional configuration number? or the issue of customization?
If so why would you move only those configuration when you already have questions about...

    Hi all

There are blogs that have mentioned about migration applications role of UAT or Prod dev...

Please provide the correct path below two files that we use for the migration of application role

    1 system-jazn-"Data.xml"

    2 jps-config. XML

I have looked for these files but noticed there are 3 or 4 files whose name even under different paths.

    Kindly help. TIA

    Concerning

If you mess up these files, your system will be getting damaged.

You need to take good back and then do it.

in other words, where you can avoid this risk is to manually enter roles. Creation of roles is an effort of time unless you keep deleting and creating new roles. If you do it manually you will have more control over the migration and you can fix it if there's a problem easily. Note that the migration of roles is not mapped groups to roles. You still need to map manually.
