  I believe you can reinstall right under the trial, use preferably the full path in three steps (the otherwise strange things may persist):

  (1) uninstall (check the box to delete the preferences),

  (2) run the cleanup tool, see the link below,

  (3) reinstall.

  Adobe Reader XI could not change the files. Do you have Adobe Acrobat (not to be confused with Adobe Acrobat Reader)?

  If so, you should always have well if you have installed the free player it will open by default pdf files.

  Check to see if you still have (or had initially) XI Adobe Acrobat (Standard or Pro) and we'll see if we can get repaired.

  I'm happy to announce that I now have my scanner to work.  I did as you suggested but I couldn't find an HPOfficejet file in the HP folder I found a bin folder in the folder of imagery but not scan.exe, but there was no scan file.exe inside.

  In any case, I have reinstalled the driver full features which I installed with the default settings.  When I got through everything that was there was the icon on my desktop solution Center.

  I did a scan and everything works fine.

I tried to fix my Norton security and one of the options that he has been to change the settings of the user account and I finished my account 'Administrator' to 'Standard' user switching. Now, I have no administrative rights. I tried to put it back, but I was unable to because a pop-up appears asking you to admin password to be able to continue, but the question is does not provide a space for the password and only 'no' is the option. This option also appears differently for me compared to the tutorial that I saw on another forum. The tutorial showed that the command prompt will say (something like), while mine says c: and when I try the whole "net user administrator / Active: Yes" it says access denied error 5!   I'm afraid that's all I can think of.  The built-in Administrator account is supposed to activate during Safe Mode if there is no other (other than the built-in) administrator-level accounts, but perhaps it has been corrupted or deleted.

  At this point, the only thing I can really think to do is to reinstall your operating system from the system CD or recovery if the manufacturer included a restore partition.
