At startup, an Info screen says "Please wait so that the State of cofigures windows" must be closed 10 + time to disappear.

1. are you able to boot to the desktop?
2. did you make any changes to the computer before the show took place?

Method 1
Step 1: I suggest to start the computer in safe mode and check if that helps.

Step 2: If you are able to boot to the desktop, and then perform the clean boot and remove the program that is causing the problem.

    I think you should try:

    #1 restart your system and try again.

    #2 check that the software is not running in the background.

    #3 try a 3rd party uninstaller but be careful because you don't have much control over how a 3rd party uninstaller effectively uninstalls - sometimes they leave "debris" that can affect future use.

    Yes, Outlook often think files 'have not been closed properly' and takes forever to 'check' the. I give him extra time to close before stopping computer...

    Why not save to a folder on your hard drive and burn them to a CD - R from there? I can't tell from the little you wrote if the problem is with Quicken (not work or you have incorrectly backup location) or with your CD - RW drive. How about more details to work with?
