  To be honest, I doubt anyone here can tell you the part number of this cable. It s only a user to user forum where you can talk with normal people like you and me.

  In my opinion, you should contact the closest service provider authorized in your country. On the Toshiba site, you can find a list of them:

  Just got a Portege R500-124 and they wanted to establish themselves.

  They just asked asked on a recovery DVD, as none came with it.

  I have looked at the manual and see you can use F8 at startup upward to get to the recovery partition and do a complete reinstallation shape it.,.
  but it would also be good to have a recovery media...

  Is anyway to create this laptop?

  As far as I know the European notebooks from Toshiba are always equipped with the Toshiba Recovery CD.

  However, try to contact the ASP in your country and ask if the restore CD is available for you Portégé R500.

  If this isn't the case, then I recommend to check your system and installed applications.
  Sometimes, there is an option to create a clean recovery CD/DVDs.
  In this case, you will need to burn this image of Toshiba on the DVD.

  I have a HARD drive that has been encrypted with the HP ProtectTools of Windows7 drive encryption.

  Computer is here 8460p.

  For 2 years, it starts well and gave me no problems until my windows did not start as expected.

  (The reason for windows won't start don't no is a mixture of live without local area coupled with windows bug regarding these services)

  In short: all the works of passwords and Windows 7 64 starts but me comes in some way in the newspaper of the sequence.

  Given that I can't start windows on the encrypted HARD disk I can't decipher the reader...

  As the drive is encrypted it can not be read from the outside

  Since the PtotectTools of HP, started from an external win WHAT HDD 7 cannot see that the drive is encrypted

  Since then, I'm totally stuck.

  It really sucks that even if I have all the passwords available, saved on USB keys and have them in mind, cannot reach the data.

  The HARD disk controller is part of the motherboard and if it works badly then you would to replace the whole motherboard.

  Here in the forum, you will find hundreds or additional threads on installing XP on Toshiba with SATA HDD laptops where you need Intel Storage Manager. If you use the forum search, it takes only a few minutes to find an answer.

  Just add to the laptop or to replace the optical drive with SSD drive (or most certainly move the HARD disc instead of the optical drive using a few installation SSD and HDD Caddy where the original HARD drive was) is accepted. Replace the existing HDD (out of the laptopshould be the last resort, if nothing is possible.

These improvements are not allowed for end users and will cancel the guarantee. I wouldn't buy thinking to upgrade. The manual that you posted shows a service door which is not actually present on the model you want.
