Adding an SSD in HP Pavilion 15

Hi all.

Consider buying an HP Pavilion 15 (model P002EJ ) to be precise.

It comes with i7 4510U, 12 GB RAM, 1 TB HDD and 15.6 "screen FHD.

I just wanted to ask: can I install an SSD in this laptop without removing the existing HARD drive?

Just add to the laptop or to replace the optical drive with SSD drive (or most certainly move the HARD disc instead of the optical drive using a few installation SSD and HDD Caddy where the original HARD drive was) is accepted. Replace the existing HDD (out of the laptopshould be the last resort, if nothing is possible.

Thanks much for any info and help!

P.S. I think the manual of this product is: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03883388.pdf

Here's the manual I found:

Manual

This is one of those without easy access service door, requiring disassembly very extended to the memory and the hard drive. These improvements are not allowed for end users and will cancel the guarantee. I wouldn't buy thinking to upgrade. The manual that you posted shows a service door which is not actually present on the model you want.

    Dear Experts...

I want to upgrade my computer by adding an SSD as a master drive and move the original 2 TB drive to be a slave.

I found several coices of SSDS, but almost all of them are SATA III interface.

Is my office supports this interface? as it is just written that it has a SATA interface without specifying what version of SATA!

How many hard drives could this office holds? I already have two (the original 2 TB and my old drive 256 GB) and I wand to add a SSD for Windows and the progs.

Can I purchase this SSD for example? Samsung Electronics 840 EVO-series 500 GB 2.5 inch SATA III single-unit Version internal Solid State...

    Hello

It has 2 bays free HARD disk as on its specifications:

    http://h20564.www2.HP.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docid=emr_na-c02781215

You can trade SSDS on your machine and make the old HDD as a secondary drive ("slave"). SATA III is backwards compatible so you can use it. Since then have been smaller SSD (normally 2.5 "), something that is similar to one of the following media:

  • Additional port SSD for HP pavilion 15-n003sq

    Hello

I wonder if there is an additional port for one SSD in HP Pavilion 15-n003sq?

Right now I have a HDD (1 T) and I want to know if there are ports inside my laptop to add an SSD without removing the hard drive. I want to install the operating system on it, and I wouldn't use external ports, via the USB port.

    Thank you!

There is a location for a WSSD/mSATA hard drive, but it is not easy to access. It is not under any service accessible to the Consumer Panel. Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

There is no instruction in the technical guide for adding an mSATA drive. It is on the motherboard itself. If you attempt to add one, you will void the warranty. Even if you could, it's not a device bootable without major reconfiguration of the operating system startup files.

  • Adding an SSD on my PC without having to replace the HARD drive

    Greetings!

I have a HP Pavilion Elite HPE - 180 t desktop PC with Windows 7 64 bit installed.  I do a good amount of games on my PC and a year ago I upgraded my card to an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 470 graphics and my diet to a Thermaltake TR2 RX 750W unit.  I also have a card mother mATX (9.6 "x 9.6") of PEGATRON.

Recently, I tried adding an SSD for my machine in order to improve the performance and organisation for some PC games that I love.  I did some research on the subject and am found a bit confused on whether or not, my motherboard will be able to handle the addition of an SSD in my machine.  I have read that I need you sure that my motherboard supports natively AHCI?  How can I check to be sure that if I buy an SSD that I'll be able to integrate it into my system?

To be clear, I want to continue to use my disk regularly to run my operating system and all the other goodies on my PC and install an SSD for store and load my music/movies/games etc.  I was watching some affordable 'mushkin' SSD that seem to do the trick.  I can give the link for more later if necessary.  Thanks for your help!

    Hello

F10 to the HP splash screen you will get in the bios.

AHCI is recommended for use with an SSD, but it is not necessary. Most modern SSDS are supported operation garbage collection which does almost the same thing to maintain the SSD.  Check with the manufacturer of your SSD.

Even if the SATA controller is set to RAID and the SSD doesn't not part of an active array, topping should always work.

  • Desktop Pavilion Elite 137c: SATA Interface for adding an SSD

How will I know what SATA (1, 2 or 3) that supports my Pavilion Elite 137c. I want to add an SSD that says he uses a SATA-3 interface.

    You are the very welcome.

I think it'll do the trick.

I added a 330 Intel SSD SATA III in my HP Elitebook 6930p business book, which has the Mobile Intel 4 series chipset, also SATA II controllers, and subjectively, it makes a very nice improvement upon startup and access time.

I subjectively, because I have not run before and after calibration of performance tests.

The mechanical hard drive was a high-end drive for laptop Western Digital 7 200 rpm, not a reader laptop slow poke 5 400 rpm.   I had no problem saying that the high-performance SSD.

If you put any credibility in the Windows experience index scores, the mechanical hard drive had the score 5.9 max, that you can get with a mechanical hard drive and SSD hostage up to 7.6.

Let's get down to the potential pitfalls:

    1. your HP computer uses Jasmine-R motherboard (MSI MS-7778) with six 6 internal SATA 6 Gb/s ports. beautiful card mother AMD, many SATA ports. GOOD to GO.
    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c03757575

    2. it is a MidTower case, with the hard drive mounted on a Vertical support, bottom left (view after removing the side panel). Follow the Web link below, for this how to (open side panel):
    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c04100666

    3. IF you want to add a second drive, in this case a 2.5 "Solid - State Drive (SSD), I see three 3 potential location.

(A.) mounted horizontally, with support of the adapter in the box below the DVD/CD drive.

    (B) vertically, mounted on the Panel lower front of the computer case.
A 3.5 "to 2.5" adapter support can facilitate this fixation or the player first itself (using the 4 holes tapped on bottom of SSD) IF the perforations (ventilation, fan, hard drive carrier) line up properly.

(C.) mounted horizontally on the botton (floor) of the case. Location does not fit all applications.
The San disk Extreme Pro SSD, I bought in 2014, has been mounting spacer/vibration rubber that could allow this type of editing with a contact adhesive. This montage approach is not appropriate in all cases.

Selling manufacturers SSD Kits and readers Raw (desktop, laptop)- so working with your store of the local computer for sale retail (££ or €) for a proper selection.

    4. REVIEW the available power cables (SATA style) for their ability to reach these 3 mounting locations.
Extensions are available from box Mod shops and retail stores.

  • Pavilion dv7t-3300: weird behavior after adding the SSD and RAM upgrade

Has just added a new HD SSD to my note as "disk 1"(the former one is 'disk 0', he has a Win. " 8.1 works). Installed Win. 10 in the new drive and everything has worked well so far. I tried to upgrade the memory, so I bought two Crucial DDR3 1333 with 8 GB memory each, the previos configuration were two 2 GB memory (4 GB total).

The question is: If you use a single memory (8 GB) everything looks Ok. If I add the other (16 GB total), the new SSD is not recognized, but the old man works as usual. The new drive is not yet recognized after botting from the former (not even from the Disk Manager). Already tried to drag the disks with no luck. There seems to be something with the memory, since everything works with a memory of 8 GB or with two 2 GB memory, but with two memoirs of 8Gb the new SSD seems to be dead

Advice or similar experiences? Is there something that I am missing?

So much worse... the SSD seems to be broken or something similar. Does not work on the other PC, then... I guess that this has nothing to do with the memory

BTW, the 16 GB are works fine

  • HP Pavilion P6 2317 c: adding an SSD in Hp P6 - 2317c

    Hi guys,.

recently, I was looking to add more space to my computer. I was annoyed to know that the size of my computer prohibits any disk hard extra addons!

BUT, I was wondering IF I could hold in a SSD? It would be a great advantage!

    Thanks for your comments!

Yes. You can add a SSD.

There should be enough space to adapt and SSD drive.

I recommend that get you one that is at least 160 GB and install the operating system to him, so it can be used as your boot drive.

You can put the 1 TB hard drive to the original address in a box external usb and use the Bay he previously held as a new home for the SSD.

The performance increase you will have when the SSD is the boot drive is something that must be experienced. It's pretty impressive.

  • Adding 2nd drive SATA SSD touch 23 "Pavilion

I haven't looked inside again, but is it possible to ADD internal or external items a SATA SSD?  I see 500 gb for $180!

    Hello

No, due to its space it's why we call it all-in-One. If you want an external SSD, you can buy a USB 3.0 enclosure and put the SSD inside. It will just act like an external HARD drive but more fast.

    Kind regards.

    Hi, recently I bought a Pavilion 15-bc018nl (X7H34EA #ABZ).
I want to upgrade with a secondary hard drive using the port m2 (empty), but I was unable to find the right type of device (Sata or Pcie) m2.

According to the "HP Pavilion Notebook PC - Maintenance and Service of Guide", these are the possible configurations:

M.2 internal SATA port or the PCIe is?
I also heard that in some cases the port of m2 is not enabled.

    Hello

Yes, it uses the standard x standard SATA cable but short or long depends on the readiness of your machine. As mentioned above, you need a mounting bracket, something like this:
