  1.) as far as I know the HARD drive password can be changed in the BIOS
  But beware, if you forget or type the HARD drive HARD drive password will be locked and you will not be able to access the HARD disk. In this case, the HD is not more usable.

  (2.) the Ultra Slim bay is a single drive bay that welcomes the reader of CD/DVD or a secondary HARD disk.
  The extension utility from Toshiba Mobile allows the insertion of hot of these modules.

  This laptop is a little older. Am I wrong?
  I found information that the Portege 3410 was shipped only with Intel Celeron 400 Mhz CPU.

  Both devices appear to be very similar. But I don t think that it would be possible to use a PIII 500 MHz in Portege 3410. I'm not sure about the decision but the PIII produce more heat and this could lead to overheating problems.

  I recently tried to upgrade my laptop Portege M400 the original 512 MB of ram to 2 GB (which seems to be possible according to the user manual.

  I tried to install the memory standard DDR2-533 (I install 2 x 1 GB).   You mustn't forget that the BIOS and motherboard is designed for the preinstalled CPU and it s not tested with another processor. Normally a newer or faster CPU produces more heat and I don t know if the Assembly of cooling on your laptop is sufficient for this.
