Portege Z830 - shortage of battery after installation of Win8

Hi all
recently I have install windows on my laptop and put 8 to update drivers using the assistant, but I noticed that the battery life has decreased about 7 hours for about 3.5 hours. All the drivers do not work properly and I am using eco mode all the time but I still get a very bad battery life.

Any ideas?

This difference in very big s battery operation.
Are you sure that you will get 7 hours battery still works if you return to Win7 64 bit?

I did other tests: on my machine Win8 I ve installed Win7 64 bit and there is not much difference in the battery operation. I put t really know what can be the problem.

I hope some other owner Portege Z830 can say something more about it.

    Hello

I agree with Akuma, some Windows 7 drivers are compatible but many drivers Win 7 problems to Win 8.

In addition, you should try to turn off the laptop, press Windows key + X and then choose stop.

The point is that Win 8 be hybrid mode if you n t press Win + X key so that closing.

    I have a Portege Z830 - 10 h for a month and have battery issues lately:
    -It will detect no battery and only works on an external power supply;
s ' there is a battery, it's not load - a message says '3% available, load', it lasts for hours and finally available toll-free.

I found some ideas for removing the battery and BIOS by default in this forum, but it is a ultrabook and I have no access to the battery. I tried the reset of the BIOS by default, but nothing has changed.

Any ideas before I go to the VAS? Thanks in advance.

In my opinion there is nothing you can do about it. Contact the nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help.
Why do experiments and wasting your time here. You paid your new laptop and it should work properly.

Request for replacement of the battery.
Do you know how to find the nearest service provider?

  • Calibration Portege Z830-10F and battery

I have a problem with the Portege Z830-10F battey.

With no alert, closing down and when to start the load at the level start at 51%.

In an hour, the charge is complete.

There is a method to calibrate the battery?

    Best regards.
    Nicola

    > There is a method to calibrate the battery?

The battery can be calibrated to unload the battery until it is completely empty and then until the battery indicator would turn to green (in some cases blue). This indicates that the battery has been recharged.
This procedure should be repeated several times in the line.

But be careful: even if you would calibrate the battery, it might be possible that the battery would not provide the same performance due to the age of the battery.

Sooner or later each battery began to lose the performance load and in such a case, it s just a matter of time, when the battery needs to be replaced.

  • The fan works like a crazy and super fast drain battery after installation of Sierra

I installed Sierra on my MacBook Pro, the fan works like crazy and the battery is empty after about 1.5 hours. Which never happened before. I'm only using Safari and Mail in the moment. I talked to Apple Support and they suggested to reset the SMC, but this brought no improvements. What can I do else? Again, I plan to install the El captain...

I had this problem just after I installed Sierra on my MacBook Air.  First I tried to reset the SMC and the LANDAU.  This does not prevent fans constantly in the course of execution.  I then used the activity monitor to see what was possibly strain my system.  I noticed the "DCs" process was always sucking up to more than 90% of my CPU usage.  However, others said that it is normal after an upgrade of the OS and it should fall back down once the computer finishes its initial picture and analysis of the files.  So I run my MBA plugged nonstop for 36 hours in a row and the fans just kept running so that the process of "DCs" continued to drain at > 90% of CPU usage.  I also looked carefully at the activity monitor and saw that tasks such as analysis of photos had their own separate process "DCs".  So I dug further into what the devil "DCs" was really do with a lot of CPU resources.  Long story short, I found that there is some glitch in Sierra which causes the macOS stuck on a process involving the keychain and iCloud.

That's what I did to fix this keychain/iCloud which led to "DCs" fans of triggering and overloading the CPU to be always on:

-In the activity monitor, I used Force Quit to kill the process that involved the keychain

-In the activity monitor, I then Force Quit the process that involved icloud

-In activity monitor, I finally Force closed the process "DCs". (I found that I could not simply force quit 'DCs' without first allowing the keychain & iCloud first)

-After all, I restarted the computer and fans were finally off the coast!  I open the activity monitor and saw that 'DCs' has is no longer hogging up the CPU usage.  Photoanalysis process were still running in the background at 40-50% CPU use with no trigger unwanted system fans.  the iCloud synchronization and my keychain also worked very well.

I'm finally able to use Sierra without my fans blazing out of control.  It took me a while to get this sorted out.  Hope this helps to save you a few headaches and time until Apple can get counts that there is this Sierra software glitch they need to address.

Usually the easiest way to return of any change to the system is to use the Windows system restore
    Let's go to:

  • Portege Z830 Manager of battery no longer works

    HI -.

for the first time here and have long sought an answer to this problem.

I use the battery Toshiba Manager feature to charge my battery not exceeding 80%, unless I need to.
A month or two ago, I disabled some startup programs and fear I messed up a setting, because I can't get it working again.

I was fiddling around with it too long, and I worry about frying my battery (like I did with my last phone) in having plugged in all day.

Can anyone here suggest a response (understandable by a Luddite like me)?

PS. I am aware that I have to drain the power less than 50% before it will kick back in French - have tested several times.

    Thanks in advance guys.

Mate sorry but how do you excatly?
You want to calibrate the battery?

The battery needs to be calibrated from time to time to maintain a performance of the battery in good condition and increase the duration of battery life.

To calibrate the battery, you must run the notebook to the power of the battery until the battery is completely empty. Then plug the AC adapter and charge it until the battery indicator turn green (or blue depending on phone model).

This procedure should be repeated two, three times in the line

But even if you would calibrate the battery, one day the battery starts to lose performance and he will die.

  • Portege Z930 - a few questions after decommissioning of Win8 for Win7

    Hello
    I recently bought Z930 PT234E with Win8 pre-installed. Due to the policy of the company, I needed this downgrade to Win7 Pro 32-Bit (deleted all partitions and creates a partition must usually be made). I downloaded all the drivers for the OS and installed. And it all started after that;

    1. I'm trying to install TOSHIBA Smart Client Manager but returns with warning "+ before starting the implementation of TOSHIBA Smart Client Manager Client, copy an action for TOSHIBA Smart Client Manager Server header file to the installation folder. +"and I only have the file and the installation will fail. * Where can I get this file for a successful installation? *

    2. you have + hwsetup + software preinstalled on Win8 but I couldn't find this sw / driver, even for Win8 to download Toshiba pages * where can I get this sw because it gives the possibility to configure the BIOS without waiting for start? *

    3. I see that the battery is + opportunity + while I left my camera on hibernation. I have to unplug it from the power supply after that 100% charged and Hibernate, it. 4-if I buy Toshiba online recovery support, this will help me to install Win8 as first boot and create the deleted partitions as in "+ * factory State * +". In other wprds, this recovery media will set my z930 to the State from the factory with the OS and partitions. + OK, I guess this media is a DVD and I know that I need to create a USB bootable for this media... This file is not known to me and usually something like that should not appear if install you the software in the correct order.
Before you start to install the Toshiba software you need to install the Toshiba value added for Windows 7 package!

Only if this PPV was installed and restarted laptop, you can follow with other tools.

Driver package system that is available to win 8 is NOT available for Win 7.
Instead of system driver you have installed to VAP!

Any comments? Option Charge & sleep, but also other options like the Wake Up LAN or keyboard may discharge the battery. So in case you n t want that, disable it in the BIOS

  • Satellite C660 - battery after upgrading to Win8 problems

    Hello world

I upgraded my computer laptop windows 8 but now I have to keep the charger plugged in any time to use the laptop. The battery can be charged and will stop completely in half an hour. I think it's due to a lot of background with windows process 8 can someone there help me walk the battery disappear so quickly. I can't downgrade to windows 7 that I deleted the roll back data.

    Thanks in advance

    Kind regards

    Mark

I put t believe that the battery discharges more quickly because of some processes that run in the background. This question might be possible on tablets or smartphones, but this isn't a case for the use of the laptop.
You can try to change the power management settings Windows 8 in order to save the battery.

But in my opinion, your battery is almost the end of life.
I'm don't know how old is the battery, but in my case, the battery is a little older and he holds just load for 5 min.
So, I think that replacing the battery would resolve the issue

  • Battery discharge even if Portege Z830 is off

    I have a Toshiba Portege Z830-10F.

I have a question and a question about the consumption of the battery while the PC is turned off.

Which means that when I stop the machine, when I restart the device one day after (or during the night) my battery level decreased significantly (10-15%).

I even had the case where, after a period of 3 to 4 days, long weekend during which the aircraft had not been in service AT ALL, I could not reboot the computer, because the battery has decreased.

I had to plug in and then start it.

This seems rather odd and strange and would so whether there is a specific setting had to be changed so that it does not happen.

I upgraded to the latest version of the Bios (v 1.40) and that doesn't change.

I look forward to your help and your support.

    Stephan

    > Which means that when I stop the machine, when I restart the device one day after (or during the night) my battery level has declined significantly (10-15%).

This can result from certain options enabled in the BIOS.
For example option Wake up LAN or keyboard or power of dough at low level to use even if the laptop is turned off. Disabling this option might help with this problem.

  • -10H - Portege Z830 can't get more then 4 hours of battery life

I just bought my Portege Z830 last week. Although, in all reviews, I read that I have seen that autonomy is 7 to 8 hours, even when you run multiple applications my laptop battery does not last more, then 3-4 hours.

Its a new laptop and I cannot understand the huge difference in the life of the battery read in the comments with my own.

Even when including the brightness to 30% in eco mode and very few applications running, I can't 4 then more autonomy.

    Can someone please advise.

    Thank you!!

Calibrate you the battery at the beginning?
The battery should be charged and discharged until it is completely empty!
This should be repeated 3-4 times in the line!

  • Replacing the battery on Portege Z830 - 10H

I have a Portege z830 - 10: 00 for a few months. It's battery has already lost 15% of capacity, and I think it is inevitable that the battery will be neet to replace sooner or later.

You know, if I am able to replace the battery myself (as in the large full notebooks)? Or it can be done only in the service of Toshiba?

What can be the replacement by Toshiba service cost?

This Portege a specific design for the battery must be replaced by Toshiba service and persons who are authorized for this work.

It is not easy to say how much it costs. I don t know where do you live, but the price can be different in different countries in order to better you can do is contact nearest authorized maintainer and look for info on the price.

  • Portege Z830: None buttons FN and fingerprints after Win 8 upgrade

I have a Portege Z830 PT224V with windows 7 64 bit... I went for the upgrade of Windows 8, but get as error "/ windows Explorer is not responding", I decided to clean up the computer and start again.

I chose a "all delete and reinstall Windows" option in windows 8, which is used when things do not work. By doing this, I got a new installation of windows and eliminate errors.

Now my 'Portege Z830' specificities as finger print scanning and other controls of forces nouvelles (Fn F6 and F7 to control brightness and all other functions) don't work anymore.

I tried to download the drivers but seems that they do not enter the set of drivers.
Is there a way I can back the controls? Maybe some tools or something?

Simply put: a USB 3.0 port does not work but the other USB 2.0 works correctly.
    Right?
    > because one day before, I had a moment really difficult mounting a USB flash and may have damaged connectors.
This could be possible, perhaps that damage you it to the other hand, I recommend to check the Device Manager if all USB ports are recognized.
