  Hello, can someone please help me understand why my 2 day recovery window uses a lot more space FRA than I expected.

  Here is some basic information.

  Oracle 11g R2

  Windows 2008R2

  The database size = 16.77 GB

  I have my FRA

  Newspaper archives = 10.5 GB (approximately 2-3GBs daily)

  Backupset = 1.63 GB (500MB per day)

  Control file = 16.3 MB

  Copy of image DB 13.7 GB

  Journal online = 30MB

  I use the Oracle out of the box back up strategy

  Run {}

  allocate channels oem_disk_backup device type of disk.

  retrieve the copy of the database with the tag "ORA_OEM_LEVEL_0".

  extra strength 1 cumulative backup copies = 1 to retrieve the copy with the tag database 'ORA_OEM_LEVEL_0 ';

  }

  FRA my height is 60 GB.

  I do not perform backups on tape (which RMAN knows)

  Everything is on disk.

  I expect at some point that Oracle will review files outside of my window of recovery to be recoverable, but I am struggling to figure out when.

  Now, if I put a window of recovery of 1 day (it's the current setting). It builds up to about 23 GB then it will start to have recoverable files. If I put a 2 day recovery window, it will consume all of 60GB and ends up falling. Why a 2 day recovery window is to consume as much space (more than double)?

  I know that everything is on the disk and maybe that's my problem. In my scenario when oracle would consider to be recoverable files?

  The only answer I have ever seen on this is when "Oracle feels the pressure of space", rather vague.

  Be careful when you use the window of recovery that you put it high enough to cover yourself.

  You can try to remove unnecessary files or folders and check. You can also use the disk cleanup tool.

  If you plan to install Windows 7, then you will need to free up more disk space. Also check if your system meets the minimum requirements of Windows 7 system.

  I used Seagate FreeAgent as my external hard drive for more than a month now, but recently I am unable to access Windows 7 asks me to format it to use it. Somehow I can format the HDD without losing my data?  Or does perform a work around?

  Before perform us any of the steps, first of all I suggest you to create a backup of the data stored in your external hard drive on another computer.

  To save the data, you can connect your external hard drive on another computer and copy all the files and folders on the other computer. Later, you can connect the external drive to the Windows 7 computer and try to run the disk error checking and check if that helps you solve the problem.

  After completing the disc you error checking, try to check if you can access the drive.

  Note: there is no way to format without losing any data on the disk. Formatting the drive will erase all data.  This is why you must back up the data before formatting the hard drive.

  Strange things are happening. Space somewhere in endangered. As it comes to SSD, I previously had ~ 40 GB unallocated for the provision of courses, but had to merge to the C: drive as there was not enough space, but space preserves endangered and now it's only a little more than 20 GB left. Strange thing is that if I select all the files, including the hidden, it only shows that there are 150GB taken, whereas if I click on disc space itself and watch his space, I see that there are 214GB taken.

  Any ideas what may cause this? As the amount of available space seems to disappear around 1-2 GB per day, I won't last long at this rate...

  There are much better the tool by a 3rd party called Treesize (by Jam software).  It will tell you what is eating space.

  If you need to use the software on more than two systems, you can play the game turn off/turn on as much as you want.

  By the time CS5 was in force, the only way to have more flexibility has been with various licenses of group/company, which would have been exaggerated over time.

  At this point, no new licenses are sold for any version of this software unless that CS6.

• -10H - Portege Z830 can't get more then 4 hours of battery life

  I just bought my Portege Z830 last week. Although, in all reviews, I read that I have seen that autonomy is 7 to 8 hours, even when you run multiple applications my laptop battery does not last more, then 3-4 hours.

  Its a new laptop and I cannot understand the huge difference in the life of the battery read in the comments with my own.

  Even when including the brightness to 30% in eco mode and very few applications running, I can't 4 then more autonomy.

  The battery should be charged and discharged until it is completely empty!
  This should be repeated 3-4 times in the line!

  The analog input module OR-DAQmx can only support up to 16 channels.  Now serveral DAQ cards provide more than 16 channels, including PCI - 6259M offer 32 entered analog.

  So, how do dasylab (Ver 11) support more than 16 channels in a NOR-DAQmx analog input module?

  (2) DASYLab: Take a first OR-DAQmx analog input module, choose the task of MAX and configure the channels 0... device 0 15... module 15 - photo 6259 - 02.png.

  (3) DASYLab: Take a second NOR-DAQmx analog input module, choose the task of MAX and configure channels 16... device 31 0... module 15 - photo 6259 - 03.png.

  (4) now you have 2 HAVE modules to manage channels 0... 15 (first) and 16... 31 (second).

• Portege Z30 & R30 - notice to owners + question about SSD upgrade

  HI - need some advice please.

  I am looking to replace a laptop existing and have narrowed down the choice to a Portege R30 or Z30.

  There are owners out there with a view on another machine? I read all the comments: this is the point of view of any beneficial owners I'm after. Reliability, ease of use in particular. Has anyone replaced a battery on a Z30? That sort of thing.

  There is a lot of money for me to spend - so I would really appreciate the help.

  Having said that I'm torn between the two models - I'm leaning a little towards the Z30 - but the standard SSD is too small. I am aware that the SSD is mSATA and which does not limit what he can be replaced by. I'm a big fan of the EVO series - and there's an mSATA SSD available in sizes up to 1 TB.

  Although there is not much information online - it was suggested that the current BIOS on the Z30 does not recognize mSATA SSD more than 512 MB.

  Can anyone confirm this?

  Unfortunately, I m not Portege Z30 owner but I want to share my knowledge on this unit.
  The Portege Z30 upgrade is a little tricky.
  First to get access to the battery and the memory modules and mSATA low cover should be removed.

  This means that you lose the warranty if you remove this cover.
  I guess that it s not worth the warranty having such expensive unit.

  By the way: models are equipped with a type mSATA ' Solid State Drive (SSD) "128 GB/256/512 GB
  But this does not mean that the biggest mSATA modules are not supported. To be honest, this detail isn't known to me, but I think that the controller should be able to handle larger sizes too.

  17% of how much?  After all, if I have 17% free on a system, which could be > 600 GB with a single physical hard disk and a single partition.

• iPhone says storage iCloud is complete but more than 2 GB available

  For a while my iPhone was to tell me that the iCloud storage was full and so pictures were no longer being downloaded.  I therefore spent some time to remove things and have now - according to OS X and iOS - 2.4 GB available.  However pictures is always telling me that without photos or videos are uploaded.  Login to iCloud and looking at the photos confirm that nothing has been transferred for 5 weeks.

  It seems to me as if a switch is triggered when I hit the buffers, but it was not delivered to zero since I cleared a space.  Any ideas what I need to do to get it working again?
