Possible hack in my Firefox?

Hi people

Lately, I've seen various ads was injected into some sites I use. I don't see these ads when I view sites on other computers or browsers.

I have a feeling that I installed inadvertently something when I was downloading an app, it always seems to appeal to cdncache1 - a.akamaihd.NET

anyway - I scanned my pc for malware - with 2 separate applications and they said its own.

but I still see strange activity happening in firefox.

Today, I noticed that some code is in a bunch of sites I use, I'll paste the code below - I hope that this will help.

also, I noticed recently that I get a refrring popup for this site akamaihd nnoying everytime Firefox open a PDF in the browser window.

I understand that I might need to uninstall firefox. If this is the case - when I re-inetall of will I can safely my favorites, passwords etc - I wouldn't waste those! I have my Firefox synced with 2 other computers - which will save me?

Thanks in advance

Here's the code copied from one of the sites-

"< object width ="1"height ="1"type = ' application/x-shockwave-flash' id = '_GPL_e6a00_swf' data ="http://cdncache1-a.akamaihd.net/items/e6a00/storage.swf?r=1"> < param name = 'wmode' = 'transparent' value > < param name ="allowscriptaccess"="always"value > < param name ="flashvars"value ="logfn = _GPL.items.e6a00.log & onload = _GPL.items.e6a00.onload & onerror = _GPL.items.e6a00.onerror & LSOName = gpl"> < / object >.

If the problem is gone when you run Firefox in Mode safe, it's a pretty good indication that this is an extension that is causing your problems.

To resolve this problem, we will need to do some trial and error. I need you to do the following:

  1. Launch Firefox normally
  2. Disable an extension
  3. Closing of Firefox
  4. Open Firefox
  5. Check the number of
  6. If the problem is still there, activate the disabled extension and repeat the steps again using a different extension

I also looked on the list of the list of extensions in the troubleshooting information. It is a list of the extensions that are either not on the Mozilla Add-ons page or have a low rating on the Mozilla Add-ons page. I recommend that you try the above steps on the extensions in this list:

  • Aviary
  • DivX more Web HTML5 Player
  • FiddlerHook
  • HDvid Codec
  • RAMBack

When you find out which extension is causing the problem, please report it below to help others who can look at this page for an answer.

If the issue is not resolved by the steps above, please post below.

  • Is it possible to always open Firefox to a known location on the office and size?

I have an environment where I opened a number of windows for my application to specific locations on the desktop. The functions 'aid' will be open an instance of the Firefox browser with an appropriate local url. What I want to do is to specify the same initial starting point and the size of the window of the browser at startup.

This is possible through a configuration option or the command line? Is it possible to 'block' the location information that is saved out of the browser? I tried starting it the browser by specifying '-nnn - nnn width height ' on the command line, but this does not seem to do anything.

  • Is it possible to password protect Firefox? Version 3.6.25

    Windows XP. Version 3.6.25 Firefox.

It is a business system, but the owners children visit his profile when no one is in the office (often for long periods). They have already caused serious problems if I want to block Firefox with a password. Is this possible?

You would need to completely block internet access, for example via a router or a firewall to prevent this.

If not, they can always use another browser t access the internet.

  • Is it possible to stop the firefox to automatically restore all my tabs after accident?

Every time my computer crashes or I have to force quit firefox, the next time that I open it, it will immediately try to open all the tabs I had open previously, causing the major slowdown and memory hogging. I have to force stop again for it to appear the normal restore tabs dialog box. Is it possible to avoid this?

Set the browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes pref to 0 on the about: config to get page the on: sessionrestore page immediately with the first reboot after a failure has occurred or the Task Manager was used for the closing of Firefox.

Which allows to deselect the tabs that you do not want to reopen, but will reopen the other tabs.

  • Is it possible to customize the Firefox Button and if so, how?

I love the whole upward with the Firefox button, but find I have to go into options and add the Tools menu bar (which I use often). I do not keep the menu bar showing that it takes too much space on the screen. Is it possible to add the functions of the menu bar for the Firefox button, and if not, may I suggest this as a future feature, as some of the functions of the menu bar are already on the Firefox button. As there is plenty of space may put all the options of the menu bar on the Firefox button and completely get rid of the menu bar!

There is an add-on to customize the Firefox button. I have not installed/used the add-on. If you are adventurous, it's here:

Maybe the add-on which above will solve the problem for you as long as the developer of the add-on retains support and update.

  • Hi all, I just want to know if its possible to upgrade my firefox to version 8? not 9 or 10, 8 would be my choice right now...

BTW, my ffox is version 6 and every time theres a new version, I always ignore it...

Firefox 10.0 eliminated problems with the compatibility of the add-on. Also long extensions were crazy to be compatible with Firefox 5.0, 10.0 Firefox should not disable these extensions.

  • Is it possible to spend in Firefox 4 on a machine running Mac OS 10.4.11?

I can't upgrade my OS as our machines (Mac mini with 1 GB of RAM) do not have CPU Pentel needed for the OS 'Snow Leopard', and although I can DL the installation of programs for FF4, I am prevented from dragging and dropping them in my Applications folder

Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac. There is a third part of Firefox 4 version that works under OS X 10.4/10.5 and PPC Macs, for details, see http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox

  • Possible hacking of my office

Awhile back, I had a computer repairman in our House to solve a problem since we were still under the manufacturer's warranty.  The problem has been supported, but the technology was "dubious" itself.  Starting very shortly after his visit that seems to involve a lot of keyboard typing, our online shopping has repeatedly been hacked and any additional precautions, we try to take, someone seems to know a new credit card number as soon as we use them.  This is starting to get expensive.  Is there a way that the tech visit could add a program to send to him (or other) our info financial as soon as it is used?  How would I find such a program?

I hope that's not sound too paranoid, I think that it doesn't.

    Hello

A Keylogger, which is a program installed, send the information of credit card that they monitor your keystrokes and send this information to a 3rd party.

    http://en.Wikipedia.org/wiki/Keystroke_logging

These are computer programs designed to run on the target computer software . [2] Keyloggers are used in COMPUTER departments to resolve technical problems with computers and business networks. Keyloggers can also be used by a family (or a company) to monitor the use of the network of people without their knowledge. Finally, attackers can use keyloggers on public computers to steal passwords for or credit card.

Download, install, update and scan your system with the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware:

    http://www.Malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free

But if you think that's the Tech, contact the manufacturer of the computer to this topic.

    See you soon.

  • help with possible hack

Hello Ive had problems connecting to my email account. its asking me to varify my account. I spoke to microsoft technical support and they say that my computer has been hacked and someone was logging into my account they say also that my computer is compramised to. Ive scanned my computer for any viruses, malware, etc. and he found nothing, I would of expected to see something if my computer has been hacked I reason to think that.

The problem with e-mail accounts free web-based is that the owners of the accounts are not strong enough using passwords.

These accounts are missed at the server end more that they do at the end of the user, and they are not easy to retrieve as many account owners will never use the email client in its simplest form and are not able to prove without a doubt that they are the real owners...

    Start here...

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Live/account-reset-password-forgot-FAQ?src=IA&iaaid=50013400&ialnk=title

.. and get ready to create a new account using a password much harder if you can't recover your original account.

  • Help possible Hacker?

There are currently a person using my computer... went into the Task Manager and they appear as local or network... they are currently logged in config WWAN as a user on behalf of the security password pc owner... they seem to use my printer to print somewhere else... .anyone help! Hele... of windows 7 ultimate OS. /

    Hi HelenSmith,

Software piracy can occur in a number of ways. Your computer system itself can be hacked and used personal information. Your blog or your Web site can be compromised if a hacker gets your password. Your email can be hacked if you click on a fraudulent link and you will not be able to recover your email address and other information you have saved in your account. Follow these steps to protect your computer and prevent software piracy.

    ·         Attack of hackers where they see weakness. A system that has not been updated recently has defects that can be put to use by hackers. Go to the Microsoft Update site to download the patches and secure the most recent version of your operating system.

    ·         Firewalls prohibit external threats such as viruses and hackers to access your system. Customize your firewall during installation process settings to accommodate the amount of data you want to allow in your system from the Internet. Regularly update your firewall.

    ·         Multiple use of complex passwords for each Web site, connect. Banking and other financial sites are particularly important maintain security.

    ·         Delete e-mails from unknown sources. Never click on an e-mail link that seems doubtful.

    ·         Buy or download an antivirus software. Many computers come pre-installed with some anti-virus software, but if not, or if you want a more powerful software, search online to find what product is right for you. Anti-virus software is crucial to keeping your computer healthy. A "sick", or a prey to viruses, is more vulnerable to piracy. Set your preferences so that your antivirus software will update automatically.

I suggest that you scan and remove any malware or computer virus infections after you start the computer in Safe Mode with networking and check if it helps.

    Step 1

    Boot safe mode with networking.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/advanced-startup-options-including-safe-mode

    Step 2

Perform a virus scan to eliminate all virus infected.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

You can also use Microsoft Security databases to scan your computer

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/PC-security/MSE.aspx

Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

Let us know the status of the issue. If you need help, please after return. We will be happy to help you.
