Possible issues install ESXi on a M3 B22 5.0.0

I started from the disk of esx and installing the software. He asked for the root password and when he goes to the system Scan I get this error

I checked the compatibility matrix and I should be able to do this in a host of exsi 5.0.0 it was seen that?

I don't know if I read the complete wrong... or what.

Any help would be great.

Thank you

BR

What ISO are you using?  One would expect using the OEM Cisco's image

  • Newbie install ESXi

Hi, I managed to install ESXi on a new server system. It's a Dell 2900 with a Quad Core CPU autonomous system. I am very new to this but have used desktop virtualized using VMware Server from time to time but nothing too advanced. I'm completely lost on what to do after installing VMWare ESXi Server. I downloaded the VMWare Infrastructure Client on another machine and managed to connect to the ESX Server. My first question is

    1. I had the impression that the service console was not part of ESXi. Isn't VMWare Infrastructure Client something like the service console. I installed it or is it completely separated from the service console?

    2. after installation of the ESXi server, I installed the converter vmware on another machine where I had some configured virtual machines using VMware server. I used the converter for converting those virtual machines 1 and send it to my ESX Server. It's a virtual machine with Windows XP Pro as a guest operating system. Now when I start this virtual machine through ESXi upward I see all the processors appear in the Task Manager. I have a Quad core Machine (single processor) shouldn't be the Manager in the guest operating system tasks show all 4 core. I've seen this at other places and they show the core. I changed the settings to the guest operating system to display 2 cpu and I see 2 CPUs of however it is not a multi cpu system yet. If someone can you please confirm if change the processor at 2 in the guest operating system settings is actually looking at this core 2 (out of 4) and how do I see 4 if I want to do. If I install another virtual machine that will share resources or it will look 2 free core.

    3. What is a data store? I installed ESXi on the new Dell 2900 directly on the 80 GB HARD drive. It is the only HARD drive in the system right now. Now, I'm not sure this concept of data store. Is it the same as the partitions? A new data store must be created for each new OS comments that I install the ESXi Server? Is that possible now (after I installed the ESXi server) or should I format and erase everything once more?

    4. is it ok to use the converter to convert a computer virtual vmware server or is - this good to install the guest from scratch OS and if installed from scratch is it not duplicate without going through the whole process of installation again?

Apologize for these trivial issues. I did a little search on the forum and found a lot of information which I finally installed the server but there is a lot of information on the web as well as the community, which is a bit overwhelming. If possible in addition to answering these questions can someone please direct me to tell a beginners guide or e-learning courses (free preference ). Thx for your help.

With regard to the number of CPUS could you please confirm why am I limited to a maximum of 2 processors. I don't have the ability to select 4. Not that I want to assign 4 CPU but just as before if I created 3 or 4 virtual machines and they are running at the same time as wouldn't distributedby the vmkernel CPU load automatically or he was telling me that I have exhausted my allowance of CPU and cannot allocate cpu for additional vm. My guess is he'll let me add how ever VMs and it will spread the load between the 4 Core automatically but I just want to confirm.

I think with the processors you see is a few becaue of intelligence with a quad core CPU alone you will not want to have a quad vCPU VM - you will certainly experience contention for CPU - not on how the ESX Server plan your virtual CPU - this will depend on demand for virtual machine processor and the vmkernel (the operating system of your ESXi server) will try to carry the load the better it can - then Yes you can overallocate CU resources (CPU, restraint) when this happens, the virtual machine will have to wait for cycles - the other thing to keep in mind when you have multiple virtual processors all get on demand at the same time so if the VMKernel cannot schedule all virtual processors none will have to obtain planned affecting performance , ECMA of your virtual machine - which is why best is to always start with one vCPU unique unless you have empirical data in support of several UC - especially with a single physical CPU, I would be very careful about creating virtual machines to several virtual processors

  • Is it possible to install addblock more in internet explorer which runs on windows rt?

I just bought Surface RT a few months ago, and well, I want to browser without annoying adds especially with you tube videos it's always do role video pre during the first video you want to watch. Thus, addblock really helps a lot to get rid of this stuff, and I installed it inside my other laptops. So I tried installing AP for my Internet Explorer inside my Surface RT. Well, as we all know, RT was not able to install any ".exe" file, unless it comes to the Bank itself. Is it possible to install AP to my IE? Or if AP really not cannot be installed, are there any plug-ins addblock good enough in the store?

    Hello

There is no way to install on Windows RT .exe files. We can only install the Windows store apps in Windows RT. You can search and find out if there is any app in the store that would replace the application used to stop youtube adds.

Let us know the status of the issue. We would be happy to help you.

  • Not able to install ESXi in Intel S2600CW

    Hi all

When I try to install ESXi 5.5 U2 Intel S2600CW V3 during installation the server automatically restart immediately to initialization of ACPI.

I've installed all the latest Firmware and still I am facing the same issue.

In the BIOS, you should disable MMIO above 4 characteristic b. that is, BIOS > advanced > PCI configuration > MMIO beyond 4 GB > disable.

Install ESX after changing the BIOS setting it works fine.

  • Hot migration is possible with VMWare ESXi 5.1.0 without an ESX server management

Hot migration is possible with VMWare ESXi 5.1.0 without an ESX server management?
I wonder for a future issue, a scenario where a system administrator must build a Win2008 + DC on local storage, server
then, once the physical box is integrated into the class network, the physical box is connected to the classified SAN storage.
Is it possible to hot - migrate the server Win2008 + CC local storage to SAN storage at this time, with only the
free version of VMWare ESXi 5.1.0?

Welcome to the community - I guess that you are looking to do this, while the virtual machine is currently running - this is not possible without a management server, also called vCenetr, but all is not lost because you would be able spend the VM local storage to the San with the VM posered using the client storage management features

  • 1st install ESXi does not connect to the network

I used VMware Fusion and several versions of the workstation. I am a computer SCIENCE student and I'm trying to set up a virtual server for the purpose of learning environment.

First, I installed ESXi in workstation computer on my laptop. I scare IT LIKED. I ran to the store bought a fresh HDD to install ESXi to my old server Supermicro (MBD-PDSMA + o LGA). During installation, I received a warning that the Intel Virtualization has been disabled on my motherboard. I activated that can restart the installation. No matter what I try I can not this 'thing' to get an address from my DHCP server. I even tried unpluging my router and using several computers on my network as DHCP servers. Each of them I tried my entire network has received fresh IP address but my supermicro box did not. I tried to use two network, port 0 only ports and only 1 port. After having lost about 24 hours I tried to install 5.0.0 and it worked without problem. I would like to be able to update the latest versions unmolested my network connection is going to die on me when I do.

    Ideas?

My next issue will be storage because not even my JABOD drives appear in my passthrough RocketRaid 2220 and PCI does not seem to be an option for this card. Yep, that's good baby PCI - X... Say what you want about RocketRaid, this card was sitting at the bottom of a box of son with no static case a few years to 3-4 moves and it still works like a champ.

I had the same problem with a card mother similar supermicro who has the same Intel Lan Adapter as yours.  Using the e1000 drivers of 5.0 worked for me.  I followed the instructions in this thread:

  • Network drivers to install Esxi on a simple Tower Icase

    Hello

I want to install Esxi 5.0 on a personal computer with this configuration:

    -form factor: tower case

    -motherboard: Gigabyte H77 DS3H

    -CPU: Intel Core i5

When I try to install the ESXI, it tells me that no netword card is present.

The built-in network card is an Atheros.
Is it possible to use it for my Esxi on this computer?
I have seen that it is possible to inject drivers and create a customized for Esxi boot cd.
Can someone tell me how exactly?

    Thanks for your help,

    Jeremy

I doubt you will find a driver for this NIC. In my opinion, it's much easier to get an inexpensive NIC that is supported or at least known as work (such as an Intel PRo/1000 GT).

  • Install ESXi 4.1u1 USB to USB

I have a N36L HP Proliant Microserver, on which I want to install ESXi 4.1u1. The material has no optical drive, but it has an internal USB that can host a flash drive. I want to install on a 1 GB stick plugged into it. It is two a question on how to do this, but also what I've discovered so far.

    (1) my first attempt was to create a portable USB HD bootable with ISO. It is documented in various places, the easiest of which is to use UNetbootin. Although apparently, it worked in previous versions of ESXi, apparently this does not work in 4.0 + since the installer insists on finding an image on an optical disc instead of the bootable media.

    (2) the workaround for this is to use a kickstart file to call 'usb install', which has the secondary effect of automation of the installation too. However calling "autopart' with the name of the flash drive fails also in my case because scripted installs need to 5 GB of space on the target disk. My stick is 1 GB.

    My remaining options are:

    (1) use another VM (possibly?) with an optical drive to install on a USB thumb key and then plug it into the server. Would this work? Is there only one image for all types of hardware, or installing regular CDROM EXSi when thing custom installed on a specific material does something?

    (2) use a "image writer" (winimage/dd) to write the installation image to ISO directly on the USB. To do this, I have the same questions as above. The images fit everything?

    3) temporarily renounce this strategy and use a cdrom or install it on a hard drive instead.

    Any help would be appreciated!

Option 1) would do. A base image would work different across of the box. You will find another server or using vmware workstation to create your bootable USB on esxi.  You can follow the tutorial here simply replace these virtual CD ISO of vmware workstation. http://www.techhead.co.UK/installing-VMWare-ESXi-4-0-on-a-USB-memory-stick-the-official-way

ESXi is very demanding and specific with regard to the material. There is a very short list and I do not think that your software is on the supported list. You may be able to get hardware not supported for installation, but you must work there. I would look on the site http://vm-help.com for possible solutions for your hardware not supported.
