  If you already have a license, you need not to buy another. You can reinstall Windows as often as you want.

  However, reformatting and reinstalling Windows because you have a problem are almost always a very bad answer to the problem and almost bever should be done. It is usually very difficult and often causes its own problems.

  With a minimum of care, should never be to reinstall Windows (XP or any other version). I ran Windows 3.0, 3.1, WFWG 3.11, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 now, each for the period of time before the next release is out and everyone on two or more machines here. I never reinstalled none of them (with one exception--a problem that I worked on for weeks without success), and I've never had anything more than an occasional minor problem.

  It is my belief that this erroneous notion comes from the technical support people in most of the major OEMs. Their solution to almost any problem, for they know not quickly answer is "reformat and reinstall. It is the ideal solution for them. It gets you phone turned off quickly, it almost always works, and it does not need to do any real troubleshooting (a skill that most of them has obviously not in any great degree).

  But it leaves you with all the work and all the problems. You must restore all backups of your data, you must reinstall all of your programs, you must reinstall all Windows and updates of the application, you must locate and install all the necessary drivers for your system, you will need to recustomize Windows and all your applications to work the way you are comfortable with.

  In addition to all these things being long and painful, you may encounter difficulties with some of them: you will find all your CDs application? You will find all the necessary installation codes? You have data backups to restore? You still remember all the customizations and settings that can be installed to make everything work the way you like it? Sometimes there are problems that are so difficult to resolve that Windows has to be reinstalled properly. But they are few and far between; RESETTLEMENT should not be a substitute for troubleshooting; It should be a last resort, to do that once all other troubleshooting by qualified person attempts have failed.

  And perhaps most important: If you reformat and reinstall without knowing what caused your problem, you will most likely repeat the behavior that caused it and quickly find yourself in exactly the same situation.

  If you have any problems, post the details of them here; It is likely that someone can help you and you won't have to reinstall.

  One of the parameters is the "version =".  Can someone explain to me exactly how this is generated?

  This could come from the app or version identifier.  According to me, it's the version identifier, then why is this a tuple 4, when I specified a tuple 3? I get "a.b.c.0", when I've specified 'ABC '.

  The 'version' parameter is generated from the final version being purchased by the user.

  The version number is sent in the x.x.x.x format regardless of what specify you in the supplier portal (i.e. 2.3 will be sent as 2.3.0.0).

• Portege M300 - question: How can I format the HARD drive?

  I saw Toshiba Portege M300 and try to format my laptop. When I try to use the CD to boot (DVD release) at the start, but I have the "CD/DVD" option, it s not poster not options 'formatting of disks', instead it goes to the login window. I have windows XP OS in my laptop.

  I don't know why this problem is coming. Please let me know the possibility of fixing this issue, or the option in the form of my laptop without recovery DVD.

  Maybe the internal CD/DVD drive cannot handle the recovery disc
  There are several reasons for this issue could be a dirty laser or lens something wrong with the disc of recovery or other reason

  You are able to start using other bootable discs like original CD bootable CD in MS Windows or linux?

  You could this workaround is short:
  Copy the recovery CD (burn on another CD) and then try to start the laptop using the recovery disc copied.

  Assuming your XXXX refers to PAKs of Cisco, the Cisco PAKs, you received should be exchanged through the VMware specific OEM portal. You will then receive emails of VMware with the VMware license. It is these received licenses of VMware, which can then be placed in the portal of VMware licenses so that they can be stored and managed.

  Currently, we have a problem with our Cisco Unity Connection (subscriber-Vmware): we cannot connect to the Web Administration and when page we ssh on the server, we have read-only access:

  I've read a lot about this and we may need to reinstall the Subscriber and then I guess we just need to add it to the cluster and Publisher will replicate the configuration. However, we are concerned by the licenses.

  Each server has its own licensing law? Then, the editor has some licenses but subscriber needs of different.

  Is it possible to download the CLI CUC subscriber licenses? I saw the file 'command' license but it has the name of the license as a parameter, and I don't know it. What can we do?

  Hi Mate,

  Pre9.X licenses have been uploaded to the server from the Publisher, but for unity connection HA licenses should be uploaded to the customer as well. Versions 9.X post licenses are uploaded to ELM/PLM and product instances (only editor) are added/synchronized to PLM. CUCM subscribers will never have to download any type of licenses regradless of the version.

  Regarding your problem, try to run a recovery disk and it normally sets the file system and gets you current execution, even if its always recommended to rebuild the server, but you can then plan the reconstruction of the server at a time.

  If you talked about nothing else that the reset, they will make you immediately... sad but so.  If they turn you away, and you don't ask only the reset, you happen to have a volume license?  If so, they are unable to help with that.
