  This message always, if you try to use fully compatible diskettes.
  It of not always called firmware or defective CD/DVD drive.

  Try to use different drives from different manufacturers.
  I use R TDK (CD and DVD) and I m pleased with most of my devices (CD/DVD drive, stand alone DVD player, PS3, etc) treat this type of disc properly.

  But I had similar problems with other discs...

  The drive Self Test (DST) short error code would indicate that hard is defective and must be replaced.  It is also compatible with the kernel power error event you received.

  If your laptop is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange for the disk replaced - you can check the status of your warranty here.

  After doing a complete reinstall of windows XP on my Dell dimension 4600 everything was OK apart from having the above error code. I don't know what sound card is installed so that a driver can be found. It would be just as easy to put another card.

  Download and install the device drivers for some audi device / sound (hardware) is installed on your computer.

  Not knowing what brand specific & model computer and/or what brand specific & model device audio, high fidelity, you have, at this stage I can't better direct you to exactly what you need - but you should be able to review the specifications of your computer on the web site of builders/drivers/support download and get what you need.

  I recently built my own PC for games, browsing the web and doing school work. It worked fine for a few weeks with no problems. Recently however, I upgraded my ram because two of my poles failed on me. I've been too out of my diet, because my old one was very noisy and the dying.   As I said previously that I WENT ON MY DIET. When I did I didn't know how much energy it could support. I plugged everything correctly except for one thing, I plugged the extra cable 4 pins in the 24-pin slot. This is my motherboard consume too much energy so that he wasn't getting enough power to use for the treatment of things like games and internet. Because there was not enough power for the entire system, it crashed. My advice to you is not to plug the additional cable 4 pin in the slot of 24pin unless you know for sure that your power supply can handle it. After doing this I had no further questions!

  This weekend a partition containing my virtual machines VMWare has been accidentally deleted by the Acronis backup software
  I have rebuilt the partition and re-assigned the same drive letter.
  Then I restored the 'Virtual Machines' from my backup folder.

  Format the HARD drive and try to restore the system using the disk recovery once more.
  If this does not work, then several reasons could be responsible for this problem.

  (1) the recovery discs are corrupted, or not created properly
  (2) the HARD drive or partition is may be defective

  If reocvery discs are defective, then you can order a new one by clicking here:

  in case two, replace the HARD drive...

• Qosimo G20: Device i/o error - DVD drive does not read CD

  Hi, im having a problem with the dvdrw drive on the G20 PQG20E Qosimno, it does not read discs, the only drive that reads without problems is to restore dvd and Heroes (dvd movie) and origonal CD, it does not read any cd s that are not original.
  I get a "D:\ is not accessible.
  The request could not be performed because of an i/o device error"

  I guess the discs not all burnt gift? t working in this player.
  I know that not all media work on all players. In the manual, you should find a list of tested and good work supports.
  I recommend that you test the CD and DVD that is recommended in the user's manual.

• HP Envy Phoenix 860se-100: required power for DVD cable drive on Envy Phoenix 860

  I recently bought a Phoenix of envy and the first task was to cut the power of 500w and replace it with a bigger 80 more platinum supply (EVGA Supernova 750w P2). I have a 980ti video card and added a few SSDs that require the increased power.

  While it is installed and works well, the Endowment had a [what I have now learned to know as] sata mini connector for power to the DVD player. Naturally my new power supply do not have that.

  This should allow me to connect the sata and power from the motherboard. So my question is that correct?

  I bought a cable mini sata (6 pins) on ebay for a few dollars. Solved the problem. Subsequently my brother mentioned that the electricity company probably would send me a free.
  
  500 watts was barely sufficient to manage the graphics card processor and 980ti. I don't want a bill of $600 to replace my card because the power supply has failed. Not to mention that it is more than 10% more efficient.

  After 6 months of great HD DVDV watched a (although four actual playing time) I am now unable to play any DVD HD but rather to get a message saying "cannot read. Restart the computer. event code: 6 ".

  Have deleted the program Toshiba HD DVD and rebooted from the CD backup 'Drivers and tools', but nothing helped.
  Audio CD and DVD std works ok, but not HD DVD. Sometimes I get a black screen, the small Control Panel indicates a part playing iis. (e) the pointer moves from left to right, but no sound is heard.

  Is the drive of player components of these laptops prone to failure?

  Same thing happened to my machine. Although 'the Chronicles of Riddick' plays very well. I bought the 'Bourne' collection and get this error message on all 3 drives, so I think it has to do with the security of coding on the DVD itself. I bought this machine to play these things.
