Power OGG

Hello

I am using OGG and works well (two-way replication)
Every night, my databases are stopped and started (by snapshot backup in option)

My question:
is it better to stop/start OGG with the database
or leave OGG running all the time?

Thanks for your help

Ideally, it would be better to stop GoldenGate and here's why:

1. you know with certainty that all operations on the source were replicated/applied to the target. You won't have any source to the SCN 123 and the target to 119 YVERT. You will not cause a synchronization problem.

2 what happens if scenario - assume so that the databases are closed, something happens to the trails?

3. what happens to a long-running transaction? You want to deal with issues of retrieval restricted? (answer: no)

4. you don't be adding / generating no relevant errors in the GoldenGate process, those not being able to connect to the database. It only adds clutter to retail reports, and if you followed everything built-in, you can avoid generating non-relevant alerts.

You can use the marker event infrastructure (i.e., send a message to GoldenGate to stop replicat or other processes), or if you use the regular script, find the offset is 0 after extract is stopped.
