Power outages at random on Satellite L505 - 10 M

I have problems with this notebook in which he has random... Well... fault current is the best way to describe it.
In addition, the very sparse blue screen I get is not somehow help me to determine what the problem is. I sent the laptop under warranty for repair, but despite my detailed description, they have not found anything.

What is the best software testing (maybe something approved by Toshiba), I can run to try to trigger the problem so I have more proof that there is something wrong with the laptop.

Someone at - it no other advice that I can use to know what is the problem?

Hi Wallie81

What exactly happens?
Can you please describe when this happen?
What do you mean with power failure?

BSOD can be caused by different groups and it can be hardware, but also software related issue.
On this path, it's really not easy to say with certainty why this happens.

As much I know Toshiba doesn't offer a test for clients software.

    What are the main differences between L505-144, L555 - 11K and A500-1GL?

They are the same price and seem to be very similar, with only small differences in processing power, graphics and sound.

    What is the best model?

    Hello

I think you should take a look on the page of specification for Toshiba laptop and need to compare two specifications:

    * Satellite L505-144 *.
    http://UK.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/innovation/product/satellite-L505-144/1081190/

    * Satellite A500-1GL. *
    http://de.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/innovation/product/satellite-A500-1GL/1080934/toshibaShop/false/

Satellite L505-144 was released in the United Kingdom and the Satellite A500-1GL was published in Germany.

L505-144 supports more rapid and better CPU, it was delivered with Win 7 32 bit and 64 bit. It supports rather than ATI GPU nVidia but the HARD drive is smaller than 320 GB instead of 500 GB

I have owned my Toshiba Satellite L505 119 for a few years now and I've reformatted it many times. However all of a sudden that it nothing happens when I hold down the 0 button and click on the power button. The Toshiba logo appears for a moment and then I get a screen with some info on Phoenix where it at the bottom of the screen says I can press F2 or F12 (something on the selection of boot).

But the fact is that nothing happens when I press on and press and hold 0.

What I am doing wrong? I've been troubleshooting for 2 hours now...

AFAIK installation recovery image on European models laptop doesn t work with zero button but using F at startup.

  • Re: BSOD Constant on Satellite L505 - 10K

I bought a new laptop Satellite L505 - 10K around ago a week and a half, and for a week, it worked very well.
In recent days, however, I knew sudden BSOD several times a day.

I tried to restore the system, but it does not solve the problem at all. Given that the last breaks down, I did tests of memory from Toshiba and Windows 7 and also run memtest86 from one day to the next. There seems to be no problem with the RAM.
According to the event log, the BSOD had something to do with the power of the nucleus.

    Hello

It is a series of Toshiba laptops we. I searched a bit on Toshiba U.S. pages and I found some information that a pre-installed Win 7 on a small range of laptops could cause a BSOD.
The solution is update the BIOS.

  • My new S2440L face the problem of power outage

I have just purchase S2440L to replace my old S2340L. With S2340L, I have never have any problem of power outage but when I plug my new S2440L, it was goes black for a few seconds. The problem was random 10 minutes to 40 minutes. These two monitor was same HDMI cable (and work fine on my SmartTV too), PC same and even graphic card driver. I try to reinstall a fresh driver but still a problem. Is - it could be hardware related? Perhaps S2440L have a hardware problem or a S2440L need a more specific HDMI cable? Now I have any problem with my S2440L. the blackout has been occur when overheating circuit behind the monitor. I was watching about about on the HDMI port of overheating by googling and found that HDMI can fail if the (amplifier HDMI) circuit was overheated (I'm not have overheating issue on my old S2340L (rev.) A00). i sure as S2440L (mine is rev. A01) have material problem on HDMI and circuit surprise (lower part of the monitor) have very high temperatures. I hope you, Dell will be it is your responsibility that your monitor, S2440L have an overheating problem / high temperature and could be a HDMI port blackout curtains. It's bad for me avoid this problem by using the VGA port.

    Thank you, ChozeriZes.

    Christ

I just touch the border smaller surface compared to the top edge, it is very hot.

maybe only my S2440L have this problem...

Today, I remove my VGA card and the power cord, and reinstall the whole again, the problem in black often seem to not like it before summer. It's just a couple of times for that day.

Actually I feel fine with this monitor, both design and image, but still nervous about high temperature, it's may be the major problem in the long term.

Maybe I was too early to conclude everything... HDMI is a very sensitive matter, as I said in a previous comment, then I have some tests for my S2440L

-overclock grid power my VGA card around 2% and delete some fan of my system.

-find the new place for the power adapter avoid the heat. (I found this use of monitor LG IPS 1. 3a adapter 19V is perhaps)

Note: I use 750W Seasonic and power supply of 5V and 12V is pretty good (5.1V and 12.05V).

OK, now I need to close this thread as solved and and report this problem like power supply problem; in major relate.

"on monitor blackout curtains when use the HDMI port occurs when power on unstable system will also be able to rack in the House, heat and cable must use HDMI1.4 full spec for sure (if HDMI cable does not include with the package).

  • Satellite L505-141 - Purchas of recovery disk

    Hi guys,.

I have a Toshiba Satellite L505-141 (Ser: 3A027302K), but unfortunately he had a problem and my broken hard drive.
I have change the drive hard and after that, I realized that I have my restore disk as well.

I found that I can order the CD by (https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/) but this site is to ship it in Europe and at the moment I'm living in Australia. In the billing details, I can't choose the Australia.

So, my question is if it is possible I can upload an image (by buying of course)?
If not, how I can put in place a delivery address in Australia?

    Thanks in advance

    > So my question is if it is possible I can upload an image (by buying of course)?
Now, to my knowledge it of not possible to download the recovery image

    > If not how I can put in place a delivery address in Australia?
I think the delivery in regions other than Europe isn't possible and I think that the European disc of recovery for laptops models cannot be operated outside of Europe.

  • Satellite L505-10z - Win 7 tools are not compatible with Win 8

My laptop is Satellite L505-10z. I installed Windows 8 Pro and I noticed that many drivers (especially PVAT) I downloaded at Toshiba support site Web (which are originally for Windows 7) doesn't work do not! When Toshiba released drivers for Windows 8? My model will be included in the driver updates?

    Thank you

    > downloaded from the site Web of Toshiba support (which are originally for Windows 7) works not!

Win 7 tools and utilities are made for Win 7 and Win No 8

    > When Toshiba released drivers for Windows 8? My model will be included in the driver updates?
I think you should ask Toshiba. It is a user community.
But I think that Toshiba would begin with driver support if Win 8 would be OFFICIALLY available on the market.

Even if you would be able to read the key to series of windows 7 that appears at the bottom of the unit, this will not help you will activate another Win 7 system.

  • I accidentally installed Win7 32 bit on my Satellite L505-110

If I had to format my computer. I used the cd that came with the laptop. (Satellite L505-110) Which is Windows 7 32 bit. I discovered he had the 64-bit installation program in the drive "C". and now I'm stuck with 32-bit which is trolling. I can't even surf the internet. I need another format.

My computer gurantee ended. If an ask for 64 bit cd will send a? I am a student and I have no money to buy :/ (Sorry for the bad language)

    Hello

Your only mistake is that you don't l l create original recovery disk. Now after the original 32 bit version 64-bit version is available on your laptop more.
You can order the 64-bit version, but unfortunately it is not for free. It costs about 30 euros.

Please visit https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx and you you can find all the information on the order of recovery disk.

    Toshiba
    LED power button fix

    Toshiba
    Satellite P300-h-13

    By Thom
    Wijtenburg

First of all, I would like to
say you that I came up with this correction, after a clean reinstall of the
Vista. (I used the serial number of windows on the bottom of my laptop for)
install, so it's the same license as the OEM of windows and therefore
Tout_a_fait legal.) After the clean install and installation of all the
the drivers listed on the site of toshiba LED power button (also
known as the mute button) and the CDDVD butten (mediaplayer button)
stopped working. After browsing around forums toshiba I found
this case, I removed the support button utility that the mute button has acted as
a mute button. Also the mediaplayer button worked fine. Reinstalled
the utility support for the button and they have stopped working. After many
toshiba calls (I think about 5-6 in one day) they opened a
support ticket for me, because they (team support callcenter)
could not find a solution. Following their advice, I did the
next to try to make it work:

    * Don't have a system restore with the restore DVD.
    * Do you have an another clean install.
    * Install the drivers in various ways (alphabetically reversed by alphabetical order and order of collection DVD).
    * update my BIOS.
    * downloaded a 'new' version of value added package (which was the same thing I already had).
    * installed the VAP with and without technical support button utility, no changes.
    After doing everything
This, they said that they did not know the cause of my problem (at the beginning
they thought it was hardware related). They came with a possible
    anwer:

    "It is."
possible that we removed some features of windows vista
operating system so that our one utility for device drivers
work. In addition, we do support the configuration, that we delivered
When you bought the laptop. »

    Now of course, I have
understand that. I waited allmost a week, no response. Neither
by electronic mail, or by phone, so I decided to google more
    on the problem.

    After a certain
some research on Toshiba forum and Googling I came across
a thread that sayd I must first install the utility 'control '.
and the button press. Unfortunately what it did not work.

    Then, all of a sudden
Windows displays a message saying that I should install the TOSHIBA.
"ACPI-based value-added general use and logical device driver.
I clicked on the provided download link, and the VFR package was a newer version
version of the support page for my laptop which is held. So I downloaded
This PPV version 1.17 and installed it. After a reboot, the buttons
still did not work. But at least I got the file HWSetup.exe, where I
could turn the LED off. Look into the button holder utility, I have
saw that there where buttons like "Toshiba Assist" which my
    the laptop model is not.

    Navigation
through the toshiba forum I found a file named ButtonSettings.ini, in
which I can manually configure special keys. After a google
search on the name of the file, I found that all the buttons list
in a registry key. I saw the "Dimmer" file using the button
folder and clicked on it. Poof... lights went out. Click again,
Poof... lights turn it back on. So I replaced the wrong button definitions
with CDDVD and dimmer values. Saved my changes but is not a restart.
Opens the support button utility and change the path of
MediaPlayer (who was always there to a previous definition) to
Dimmer.exe. checked to see if the button CDDVD pointed
MediaPlayer and restarted. When everything has been started, I pushed on the
button again and presto... MUTE lights off. Pushed again, poof...
lights. Pressed the mediaplayer button and started to mediaplyer. I have
has been very happy when everything worked.
    Now that you
know the story, here's the fix.

    * Difficulty: *.
    * Download and install the new VAP from here: [http://cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com/content/support/downloads/util_tvap_26084A.exe]
    * Choose Edit in the installation and make sure that everything is checked
    * do NOT restart after the installation.
    * Download the ini fix and the fixed registry
    * Uncompress its contents into your working folder.
    * Copy the ini into C:\Program Files\TOSHIBA\TBS (where C: is the drive of program files)
    * In this same folder, start the exe called TBSbtnSt.exe
    * do NOT restart, click on 'no' in the dialog box.
    * Double click on the registry key, and then click 'Yes' to add to the registry
    * Then open the button support utility by clicking Start-> Toshiba-> utilities-> Toshiba assist. Help go to optimilization and click support button tohiba
    * If the path or the description is disabled, fix, and then click Save. See also if the CD/DVD mediaplayer points.
    * Restart you computer now.
    * If everything is is well past your special buttons should work.

    * WARNING: *.

    It worked for
me, with my Toshiba Satellite P300-h-13, edition windows Home premium 32-bit.
It should work on any model of 6 buttons with the mediaplayer and the mute
buttons. I am in no way responsible for any damage that may arise
If the fix does not work correctly. There is absolutely no. GARUENTEE
It will work for you. If the answer is Yes, he does, and if it's not it
    doesn't work.

    * Author: *.

  • Satellite L505-13W - FN keys were not and touchpad problem

    Hello everyone,

I have two questions and I'd highly appreciate your help.

First, when I got the laptop he used to have a Fn bar that comes down from the top of the screen when I press the Fn, it shows all the keys Fn, now it disappeared. I need to get it back, I almost tried everything and nothing is there yet.

Second, the touchpad is a zoom no more when I apply the 2 fingers in and out, he used to do that before.

    My laptop is Satellite L505-13W

    Thanks in advance

    Hi abdouni,.

    1. I think that the problem is related to Toshiba Value added Package, and Flash Cards Support utility. These two tools control FN keys and cards Flash appears if you press the FN key.
You can download it from the official website of Toshiba:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

Regarding the installation: first remove these two tools and reboot the laptop. Now, install the package of added value and stop and start again. Install the Flash Cards Support utility and do a restart. Now, the FN keys should work again.

    2. it could be related to value added package too to check my ad.
If it s does not work, reinstall the driver for the touchpad.

    > Is it possible?
Perhaps, in the case of the new processor would be supported by the BIOS and chipset, you ve got a good chance to upgrade the processor.
But Toshiba but also other laptop manufacturers don t support these updates and so everything you do is at your own risk!

First I would recommend you to get information about your chipset. Intel ARK page you might check what processors would be supported by the chipset.
Fact is that this series of mobile were equipped with the Intel Dual Core CPU Intel Arrandale CPU family. In case you really want to try a new processor, I suggest you to choose one of this family.

But beware: even if chipset would support the new processor, the BIOS can be one of the parties causing disorders. Unfortunately I haven't found any information which processors can be taken in charge by the BIOS
