PowerCLI 'update-AutomaticLinkedClonePool' removes the login server on pool restrictions?

Hello

Thank you for taking the time to read this query.

We are experiencing a problem whereby a simple script PowerCLI serving to reduce the number of virtual machines running in a pool is having the knock on effect of the removal of the server connection for the pool restrictions.

"Update-AutomaticLinkedClonePool -pool_id testpool -headroomCount 20"

VMware say there is no support for using PowerCLI with View which I find a bit mystifying at the moment but I'd be grateful for any advice on this problem or whether there is a better way of achieving this.

With thanks,

Kim

Hi Kim,

I saw this culture until recently. It's a bug in the view code PowerCLI whereby it keeps the values of tag for pools when they are modified. It is now followed by a solution, even if I have no details on when it will be released. The solution is to extract from the database of ADAM beforehand and restore them after the command manually.

  • Turn on the login server replicates who don't were absent for a while...

We have a simple environment with a connection to the server inside the firewall and a security server in the DMZ.

A few months ago while evaluating two-factor authentication, we brought another connection online as a replica server.  This connection to the replica server has been configured to require two-factor so that we can send our testers to here without impacting the world.  We finished testing and stop the replica server without deleting the environment from the view, waiting for permission to proceed with the next project pretty quickly.

He was arrested several weeks later.  Today, having received the approval of the project, this connection replica server has been rekindled.  This has led to many event ID 102 in the initial application of login server log, but also a condition where the connection to the origin server accept more new client connections.  Stop the server connection line and restarted the initial login server, which restores the functionality.

I sustpect that the two servers were maybe a little concerned about catching up on several weeks of activity who missed the reply, and that made the connection to the origin server is not responding.  We must go back to the login server replica in the environment without impact on the initial login server.  How is that possible?

    Thanks for any help.

I don't think it would be a problem.  The last time I did I have disabled the broker of the admin page, removed the software, rebooting the server and then removed with the vdadminn command.

I had this same problem with my login server. I had about 30 users on one of them and less than 10 on the other. I couldn't find any reason to make it, so I ended up opening a case of low priority with VMware Support. They have found the answer:

    ---
Found the answer for you: it seems that users who require a change of password and change it as they connect to their desktop to view create a user profile on the login server
    http://social.technet.Microsoft.com/forums/WindowsServer/en-us/eb56b301-FEAA-4753-a70a-cd950bafa303/Windows-2008-invokechangepassword-lots-of-profiles-in-cusers
    ---

Thinking about it some more, this organizations probably affects the only running the customer view as a replacement for Explorer shell (do us), effectively replace normal windows authentication. So basically, when a password is about to expire, the only interface that they need to change it is through the Client view. Apparently this changes the mechanism eventually create an empty profile on windows server itself?

Article, it would be interesting to test changing the newspaper locally allow an option to see if it prevents the creation of profile, or if it breaks the password!

Ouch! Please do not yell at us. We can hear you if you type normally,
    in different cases.

    Number of points:

1 many updates are essential to your safety, and you play
with fire if you do not install them. Please do not ignore the.

2 updates do not use memory (or at least, they use only one very)
small amount of memory). Disk space is what they use.

    3. even the amount of disk space they use is low and so a update
requires you to run out of disk space, that you have enough disk space.
and need to buy a second hard drive or replace what you have with a
cotyledon. What is your car, and how it is free?

    4. do not remove the last update when you install a newer version. You
need to keep all installed updates. Thus, for example, if update 1
protects you from A threat and update 2 protects the threat of B,
keep the 1 update when you install update 2. If you do not, you will be
exposed to a threat all over again.

  • ACS cannot remove the AAA server

I have an ACSSE which, for some reason, has two instances of itself listed under AAA servers. The first so-called "self" and watch a 127.0.0.1 address. The second shows it's real address. I am trying to remove the other, but there is no option to remove.

I think that it is causing my replication of database to fail. My primary ACSSE is listed under the screen of AAA servers. This machine, which has two cottages are listed does not allow replication of database saying invalid secret key. I have check that keys are the same.

You must be able to remove one of the servers, even if it is the one with the IP address, then run:

In order to solve the 127.0.0.1 problem free, you can back up and restore the. DMP file on a new installation of ACS for Windows 4.2 and change the 127.0.0.1 entry with the desired IP address.

In the database, we have values in the columns that contain the 'white spaces' a few times before and/or after the value.  What is the best procedure to remove these extra white space?  I have given some examples below.

    INV-456

    123 456INV 123456

1st row, 5 white space before the value of a.

Line 2 has 5 white spaces after the value

Rank 3, has 5 spaces before and after the value

Tier 4, has 5 white spaces between the value < = it's alright

Essentially, I don't want to cut the sides LEFT and RIGHT only.  Every thing in the meantime doesn't seem to be a problem at this time.  Is the query below the best procedure to manage withdrawal?

The SET clause is the best way, but you can add a WHERE clause.  Without a WHERE clause, you will update every row of the table, including rows that are already perfect, who will be ineffective.

    Try this:

    UPDATE table1

SET AcountNumber = TRIM (account number)

    WHERE AccountNumber <> TRIM (account number);

If AccountNUmebr is NULL, the conditon of WHERE clause evaluate to UNKNOWN, and if the line will be not updated unnecessarily.

  • Automatic update appstack remove the old appstack on the next logon or reboot and attach the appstack update

I saw this behavior where in appstack update auto insertion or withdrawal. is it so?

Updates is possible for an AppStack without disrupting users who have the AppStack in use?

    A. Yes. You update applications on the original AppStack of the Volumes of App Manager console. This process

clones of the original AppStack, so existing applications are available to users. The new AppStack with the

update of the applications is configured during the next connection. In addition, the old AppStack is deprovisioned the next time that the

    the user connects.

Long story short, Yes, you are right.

    Long story:

If you have an appstack say Adobe_reader_11 and you want to update to Adobe_reader_11_B, you must select update in the Manager to the appstack of Adobe_Reader_11, he wil, and then create a new appstack and you have to call Adobe_Reader_11_B. Assignments do not automatically change. This means that you need to remove the assignment of the Adobe_Reader_11 appstack and assign the Adobe_reader_11_b appstack manually to the same group.

If you decide to proceed with a new logon (first option when you assign, so not immediately) the old appstack Adobe_reader_11 will not be affected (as always). When the same user logs on, then it will get the Adobe_reader_11_b make appstack you have only 1 of these appstacks assigned at any given time.
