PowerConnect 8132 - remote logs Server
Hello
I have been informed by Dell to activate the 'remote log server' on our switches PowerConnect 8132.
But I tried to set up to a Windows machine.
As it is not an option to choose which shared folder save these logs files, I wonder if someone could help me with the configuration of a client machine to get these logs files.
It should be a Linux?
Your windows machine must be configured as a syslog server. It should install 3rd party software that accepts syslog messages. The switch sends the log on the server, syslog server then determines how the message is handled.
There are a few ways to control the switch. See page 203 of the user guide for more information on the control of the switch.

VPN error 868 the name of the remote access server is not resolved
I use Windows 7 Home Premium and you want to configure a VPN with my office network that uses the Check Point Safe@Office. I am unable to log in and get the error that does not resolve the name of the remote access server and Windows cannot find the host using DNS name. Any suggestions on what to try to fix the problem? I set up the VPN connection according to the instructions of our network administrator. We use XP in the office.

VirtualCenter Server DBs on remote SQL Server
Guys,
I use VirtualCenter Server with a remote server of SQL2005 DB. I initially set up with a domain account as the owner of the db and everything was pretty much ok, except that my VirtualCenter management Services continues to stop. I was told that the best practice is to use local sql accounts and authentication as opposed to domain accounts. I created connections local SQL, makes them owners of DB and then recreated the system DSN names on my server of VC. I changed the log on credentials for the VC and VC management Web services for my domain account for the Local System account. Now when I start the service I get the "Virtualcenter Server service stopped with the error service special 2 (0x2).» I have cheked other messages and I made sure the Vmware converter service does not work. IIS in is not installed on this server. I saw the messages about failure fo the local system account to log on to a remote sql server.
So my question is:
If the VCDB abd UMDBs are on another SQL Server on the VC server do you need authentication based on the domain or local sql? What references do service accounts must be defined on the VC Server?
Thank you
If VC and SQL reside on a single box, a domain account is recommended. If SQL is remote, it is recommended the SQL authentication, see Installation and Configuration Guide. This has always worked for me.
As mentioned previously, VC must be installed with local administrator or service account (member of local administrators) and retain the same all along of...

However, missing datafile scenario does not work on the physics of the day before.

6. of course RMAN commands have failed to restore the missing data file;
So I renamed the file to original and rebooted repeat services applies - this restore the data file and now the configuration state of the DG is normal.
*********************************************************************************
Not quite sure if I'm still he hands the right way or if the error above is related to RMAN not able to synchronize with the physics of the day before.
The documentation I want to talk to is here (1 paragraph):

Server 2008 R2 Remote Desktop Server printing problems...
Hello
We have recently installed a Server 2008 r2 remote desktop server. Everything works well except sometimes once a user has printed a large number of documents remotely a print job fails. The only mistake he gives may not print.
Once this problem starts they then won't even be able to print locally to a printer connected to the server. The only way to solve the problem is to disconnect and turn it back on.
We checked to see if the spooler is running, it is not a remote printing problem, that it does not start even local print will work for this user. We also checked to make sure that the print queue is not an uptight work.
How we solve this problem?

Good morning/afternoon everyone,
I come from a world of Cisco, but we decided to buy Dell PowerConnect 8132 because they were cheaper. In Cisco, I can easily make a port on the router, for example:
interface GigabitEthernet0/2 no switchport ip address 10.3.0.1 255.255.0.0
How do I do that in these switches? I tried searching google, but seemed to have come up with nothing that has helped me. I would assume it'd be something along the lines of:
#> configure(config)#> int tengigabitethernet 1/0/2
(config-if-te1/0/2) # ip address 10.3.0.1 255.255.0.0
However, that Ip address command isn't available under interface for me. The few websites I have found indicated it should.
Any help would be great, thanks!
You are right there is no command on physical interface to set an ip address. When usinh series PowerConnect you put the physical port (te1, 0, 2) mode for certain a switchport VLAN.
switchport mode access # (config-if-te1/0/2)
(config-if-te1/0/2) # switchport access vlan xx
Access the xx interface VLAN, and then enter the required IP address.
Console (config) #interface vlan xx
Console (config-if-vlanxx) #ip address 192.168.10.10 255.255.255.0
VLAN you configure it is the network that extends between the 2 devices which you connect to layer 3.
Here is a link to the manuals available for the 8100 model.
I hope this helps.

Remote access server problem ASA5510
Hello guys,.
I have a problem with ASA5510 configured as a remote access server. We use the client VPN in Windows XP. Look at the requirements I see no problem, but when I try to connect to the server it doesn't open the negotiation of VPN. I had the problem like this before, but at least I saw the traffic hitting the ASA. Now, I don't see anything hitting the device. I enclose the current configuration of the SAA. The VPN client on my laptop is configured correctly. Thank you in advance!
RVR
Hello
Happy to help and thanks for the note.
This command is not required, but 90% of deployment I've seen has this configured command and is the default value for the SAA. In a Word, what this command is open to IKE and IPSEC ports and also does not check ACL entering ASA for IPSEC traffic.
In case if you do not have this command enabled, you must configure inbound ACL to allow IKE, IPSEC and text clear remote access VPN traffic after IPSEC packets get decrypted on the SAA.
Kind regards
Arul

HP 8600 - Document remains in the spooler after printing from a Remote Desktop server
I have a printer HP 8600 N911a . The printer prints a document on a Remote Desktop server, but the document will stay on the spool and held until the next documents aligned to print. It does this for all articles printed from the Remote Desktop server. It prints and receives faxes perfectly all the other times wireless.
Hi swmpthng88,
It is an indication that the problem is in the server operating system. To be sure, you can connect the printer to a different computer, and you don't have the issue, then, if the operating system on the server on which the problem of the queue. Let me know what you find?

Remote Desktop RDG cannot have more than one remote gateway server.
Original title: Remote Desktop RDG
The app works very well except that you can not have more than one remote gateway server. I have two different infrastructures that I connect and they have different configurations of RDG. You cannot change the advanced options when you create a new connection. You can't modify it until you connect once. I can not connect because the RDG are for another server. Check connection options during the installation of the initial connection.
OK, never mind. I figured this out. When you are on the home screen see you the bar charms and select settings. From there, you can change the default RDG server machines new use. Exactly what I needed. Works fine now.

Do need me a separate license for VMware vCenter Server Heartbeat for a remote SQL Server database?
Only a single vCenter Server Heartbeat license is necessary to protect the components of the vCenter Server installed remotely, including SQL Server. A single license is also used for several UNIQUE for vCenter Server services protected authentication servers. A license is required per instance of vCenter Server.
