  I have two poweredge r210 (not the version II) and I added two Samsung Pro SSDS in place and place the original mechanical drive. I used SATA cables to work around the PERC controller, because I don't think that is compatible with SSD or upgrade to WinServer 2012. I took out (which I think is) the PERC controller, but at startup, information about the PERC S100-S300 and CTRL-R to set it up.

  Is this normal?

  If you do not need RAID SATA ports should be enough. If you need / want to RAID so I suggest a hardware controller on Windows RAID. The RAID hardware controllers valid only set apart from the S300 are the H200 and SAS6iR.

  I have zero startup items and my system works fine.  That may not work for everyone, but it's the way I like to run - lean and mean hoping for infections of malware if I can keep on my toes on the way to correct
  I don't know that anyone could tell you what startup programs, you need or those who you don't need without more information on the issue, trying to solve... or are - this just curiosity.
  Where do you see these startup items, that you remember to turn off and what are they?
  If you want to help looking at your startup items, I would like to start here:

  Next:
  I would like to use CCleaner to watch all your startup items and you might be able to identify and disable the (this may take a few passes) or if you look at the list of startup items and do not know what to do, you can publish a list of your startup items and someone can help you to look at.

  Here's how:

  CCleaner allows you to manage most of the startup items and also do some other operations oriented cleaning.  Some people will you recommend is not to use the registry functions in CCleaner to avoid these features for now.  I have no problem with it for me, but sometimes it's a contentious issue, I prefer to avoid as much as possible

  You can uninstall CCleaner later if you don't like it.
  You can disable the startup items, see how things look and if you want to - delete totally useless, or just startup items leave the disabled while you continue troubleshooting.  Note that disabling things does not uninstall anything, and if there is a problem, you can simply re-enable the point.  If you're sure you don't want at all, then you can delete it.
  After launch of CCleaner and see what startup items you can disable/remove, if you are still not sure of your startup items, follow these steps:
  Run CCleaner and choose Tools, boot and bottom right, click on the button "Save to text file" to save the startup information in a text file on your desktop with a name you remember - something like startup.txt
  Save the boot information text file on your desktop (or somewhere you can find it) open the text file with an editor (Notepad or WordPad), select all (Ctrl-A), copy text, all the text selected in the Windows Clipboard (Ctrl-C) and then paste (Ctrl + V) the contents of the startup list to come back here in your next reply and maybe someone can tell you other things to consider.
  A more revealing startup Analyzer is Autoruns which will allow the manipulation of all sectors of boot and does not actually install anything:

  It looks like someone may have maliciously tampered with your computer.

  Take a look in your trash and see what you can find.

  Usually, it is because the two copies of the account are set up.  Go to tools | Accounts | Mail and see if there is more than one copy of the account.  If not, then try to compact and repair the database (www.oehelp.com/WMUTil/) and analysis of e-mail what to do is not enable in your anti-virus software (see www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3).  If this does not resolve things, try to delete your account, close and reopen WinMail and then add the account back again.

• Cannot update firmware Poweredge R210 II

  Hello

  I get messages and errors below when you try to update the firmware on my server Poweredge R210 II. I use the BIOS of the Dell PowerEdge R210 II Version 2.8.0 server that seems to be the most recent version of this BIOS, but receive the following messages:

  * Red * please do not remove his power!

  I managed to Flash the BIOS on my Dell R210 II XL OEMR back to the standard BIOS Dell Server version 2.8.0 by creating a BACK USB startup disk, copy the unpackaged Dell BIOS file, in my case, I used PER210II_020800.exe, and then running the following command: "PER210II_020800.exe - wipeclean - forcetype.

  The switch - wipeclean clears the ESCD and DMI data tables and the forces of switch - forcetype BIOS file to install on any Dell server.

  Here is a list of the other switches used during the update of the BIOS.  Be careful, however, you easily could brick your server if you use these incorrectly.

• PowerEdge R210 and Windows 7 (workstation version)

  Someone at - he tried and managed to install Windows 7 (workstation not the server version) on a PowerEdge R210. Currently, we are looking to buy one to replace a PC that performs various tasks on network, but we really need a server on that operating system.

  The intention is a basic system with no RAID or addon cards just to use the controller integrated with a hard drive. Ideally, we want to be able to use two NIC ports on Board also.

  Thanks for the replies. Someone else also noted to me that the driver base is the same, although it is nice to have several people who confirmed the same thing. One last point about the drivers and Windows 7, it would be better to install the 32-bit or the 64 bit version of Windows 7? I guess the Server drivers will only be available in 64-bit and better taken in charge these days anyway.
