Pre-configuration of Nexus vPC

Is it possible to configure ports to the vPC in a N5K before having installed vPC counterpart?

Yes, this should be doable.

Just that the extent of the vpc is configured (global or interface), they will be inactive/down and won't be operational not until peer is also configured and vPC rises.

Kind regards

Sunil.

  • Clarification of Nexus VPC

After a recent deployment of the switch, I see some very strange transmission problems layer 2.  I'm not sure if this is related to a problem of configuration on my part.  I would like clarification on the VPC, and I hope you can help me.

It is my understanding that when you have a series of double-sided VPC between, say, a pair of N7700 and several pairs of Nexus 9 K or K 5 switches, that all the field of VPC ID must be different.  However, a contractor told me that each number VPC - associated with the uplink of etherchannel to the Nexus 7Ks - must also be unique.  A graph that shows my dilemma is attached.

Question - I am ok to reuse the port-channel number 3 with the VPC 3 for all pairs of leaves, or if they should be different?

    Hello

What you show, it's perfectible acceptable. The two areas of vPC in the Nexus 9000 layer, domain of the vPC 117 and 118 in your diagram, have no knowledge of the other, and so the same vPC and port channel number can be used.

As you said, you obviously have a unique numbering to the layer of Nexus 7000.

  • Add pre-configured function palette of expression node?

Is there a way to add a node of preconfigured expression custom palette funtion?

LabVIEW offers a couple of them (like the radians into degrees and degrees in radians) in the NI_AngleConversion.lvlib.  I can view the palette of rapid decline, type rad to deg and click in my block diagram to get to this:

I watched the screws in this library and tried to set up a library for me in the same way, but have not had much luck.

I CAN add to the library, but I have to wire the terminals get a square standard VI icon in my diagram when I try to use it.

However, I really like the compactness of the Expression node on my block diagram and do not want the VI icon to be used.  I want just a node expression preconfigured to appear that looks like this:

Anyone know if this is possible?

You can place materials VI of the items on the pallet.

In addition, you can do a Subvi.  It doesn't have to be a square icon.  You can make your smaller icon and using a smaller box on your icon.  Do not fill the external pixels of the icon.

For something like a basic trigonometric calculations, I think you're better off using primitive LabVIEW and a Subvi.  Just as the icon of the size.

  • Nexus 5600 HSRP design question for VLAN stretched between 2 areas of vPc.

To our new data center network, I have 4 5672UP Nexus in two data centers. Between data centers is a redundant vPc with fiber 2x10Gb. I have configured two areas VPC, one for each data center. I read that HSRP within a VPC domain is active/inactive, but I wonder what would be the right way to configure the HSRP configuration for the VLAN tense because they are two areas different vPc?

If you need isolation of FHRP between sites, this can be achieved by configuring the HSRP authentication in the same place so stop the HSRP Hellos between the treatment sites and allow each site to act in active / standby. Due to the HW on the 5600 Nexus architecture, control plane packets multicast are punted to the CPU, ignoring any PACL or MAC - ACL. So with a PACKAGE, you will not be able to filter the Hellos HSRP, ARP, BPDU, etc. that need to go to the CPU, because there is an ACL predefined to redirect traffic to control CPU and this ACL that overrides the ACL configured by the user. It is advisable to set up "no arp ip free hsrp duplicate" to repress unnecessary GARPs at each location in this design as well. Note 4-way HSRP is supported only on the latest versions of NX - OS, see also CSCuy89705.

Another solution is to run FabricPath DCI with Anycast HSRP, which will allow all the 5600 to act as an active gateway by default, refer to page 22 of the FabricPath Cisco best practices.

  • VPC of Nexus 5 k Keep-Alives - Portchannel necessary?

I'll set up 2 5548UP for layer 3 connectivity and I was wondering about the configuration of the VPC. What is the best practice? Do I have to configure a port-channel of layer 3 to do this with different interfaces (for example, e1/e1/1-2), or can I only make the mgmt port 0 card layer 3 girl (via copper)?

And also, the ports that are L1 and L2 on the layer 3 daughter card for? I know that at some point there were not usable...

    Thank you

    Bobby Grewal

    Hi Bobby,.

You can use the for the persistent mgmt0 port.  The main reason for them to determine what kind of failure has occurred if the VPC peer-link goes down.  If persistent are up, we know peer switch is in place, and the secondary switch must stop its ports until the pair link comes back online.  If persistent are also declining, we switch know peer is gone and the remaining switch must be responsible for the transfer of traffic.

Hand, I'm not sure on the ports of L1 and L2.  I'll look into it, but mabey someone has the practical answer.

  • Configuring network DMZ, internal using Nexus 1000v

Hello peoples, this is my first post in the forums.

    I am trying to build a profile for my customer with the following configuration;

    4 x ESXi hosts on the DL380 G7 each with 12 GB of RAM, CPU Core X 5650 of 2 x 6, 8 x 1 GB NIC

    2 x left iSCSI SAN.

    The hardware components and several design features, on that I have no control, they were decided and I can't change, or I can't add additional equipment. Here's my constraints;

    (1) the solution will use the shared for internal, external traffic and iSCSI Cisco network switches.

    (2) the solution uses a single cluster with each of the four hosts within that group.

    (3) I install and configure a Nexus 1000v in the environment (something I'm not want simply because I have never done it before). The customer was sold on the concept of a solution of cheap hardware and shared because they were told that using a N1Kv would solve all the problems of security.

Before I learned that I would have to use a N1Kv my solution looked like the following attached JPG. The solution used four distributed virtual switches and examples of how they were going to be configured is attached. Details and IP addresses are examples.

    My questions are:

    (1) what procedure should I use to set up the environment, should I build the dvSwtiches as described and then export it to the N1Kv?

    (2) how should I document place this solution? In general in my description I will have a section explaining each switch, how it is configured, vital details, port groups etc. But all of this is removed and replaced with uplink ports or something is it not?

    (3) should I be aiming to use a different switch by dvSwitch, or I can stem the heap and create groups of different ports, is it safe, is there a standard? Yes, I read the white papers on the DMZ and the Nexus 1000v.

    (4) is my configuration safe and effective? Are there ways to improve it?

All other comments and suggestions are welcome.

Hello and welcome to the forums,

    (1) what procedure should I use to set up the environment, should I build the dvSwtiches as described and then export it to the N1Kv?

N1KV replace dvSwitch, but there isn't that a N1KV ONLY where there are many dvSwitches N1KV would use the same rising in the world.

    (2) how should I document place this solution? In general in my description I will have a section explaining each switch, how it is configured, vital details, port groups etc. But all of this is removed and replaced with uplink ports or something is it not?

If you use N1KV you rising the pSwitch to the N1KV.

If you use dvSwitch/vSwitch you uplink to the pSwitches to the individual dvSwitch/vSwitch in use.

    (3) should I be aiming to use a different switch by dvSwitch, or I can stem the heap and create groups of different ports, is it safe, is there a standard? Yes, I read the white papers on the DMZ and the Nexus 1000v.

No standard and Yes in many cases, it can be considered secure. If your existing physical network relies on VLANs and approves the Layer2 pSwitches, then you can do the exact same thing in the virtual environment and be as safe as your physical environment.

However, if you need separation to the layer of pSwitch then you must maintain various vSwitches for this same separation. Take a look at this post http://www.virtualizationpractice.com/blog/?p=4284 on the subject.

    (4) is my configuration safe and effective? Are there ways to improve it?

Always ways to improve. I would like to start looking into the defense-in-depth the vNIC and layers of edge within your vNetwork.

  • vPC and VSS port-channel uplinks

    Hello Forum team!

Currently I have a configuration of a couple of Nexus 5548UP in a field of vPC with a couple of Nexus 2248TP aircraft in a double scenario hosted for the access layer (FEX in a vPC also). Core/distribution, there are a pair of 6509 cluster VSS. Now I configured a regular port-channel every 5K to the VSS functionality and works as expected. My question is this: given that in the vPC a 5K is the main and the other is secondary, a configurable vPC for the uplinks to the VSS instead of a channel of regular port of each 5 K?

In addition, configurations must be replicated manually on both Nexus 5 K? I'm in denial about this. I'm used to how VSS works.

    Thanks to the advanced guys!

    Hello

You can use a vPC of the pair of Nexus 5 K to the VSS cluster. There is a white paper Cisco Catalyst 6500 VSS and Cisco Nexus 7000 vPC of interoperability and best practices that will in this. While the white paper is for Nexus 7000 are you interested to do probably is the configuration shown in Figure 2 and so the scenario and considerations are the same.

On the Nexus switches with vPC there are still two control i.e. plans, the primary and secondary that you mention. For all the configurations that should be applied at the primary and secondary, you can manually configure on the two switches or use the synchronization of Configuration characteristic Nexus (see Configuration synchronization Operations for more details).

He was 15-months we have looked at the function so probably things have changed, but following issues with our tests, and we were see reported here in the forum at this time, we decided not to use the config Sync feature. Outside all bugs, there are some operational changes to consider and then make sure that you are comfortable with how config-sync works before putting it in a production environment.

  • The Apple 2 Configurator - iPads reset randomly

Hello, I recently setup one set up 43 Mini 2 iPad using Apple Configurator 2. It is a pain in itself but I have finally all the settings and I work as they wanted.

Since then, a nightmare began to fall apart. Ipads have decided to get back at random, at different times and are on-screen apple 'start '. Thus wiping all my small a pre configured options. The common message I received is that they worked all day, then put on fees / locked screen. They returned to the iPad and it has somehow restarts.

I tried to find out why this happens, but find it very difficult, the possible answers are:

    1. Code entered incorrectly too many times triggering own iPad outside
    2. An update from apple is "accepted" by the user, downloaded in the background then installed when they were not using it. Release of the iPad to wipe himself.
This could explain reset randomly, the amount of time needed to download the software update can be faster / slower on some devices. There was a report saying the site I pre-installed ran really slow... it could have been because of the download.
    3. Hardware problem

Unfortunately, that's all I can offer, my gut says the update it the cause of this. But an update shouldn't wipe all my preconfigured information if it's in a supervised State. I'm almost 100% sure I ticked the option do not allow updates... maybe I'm wrong.

Just a side note, I downloaded and updated all iPads to the latest iOS, before they were sent out (that was last Friday).

    Everyone knows this?

Same problem here with the iPhones.

Started deployment becomes a big batch of iPhones and many have started to return to the start screen.

First of all, I thought it was matter of iPhone 4S. Then did their setup differently, always the same thing.

Watching began in our mdm Airwatch server settings, have not found anything that could have an impact on it.

A common thing - iPhones reset after that pin code has been entered incorrectly. And it began to appear on the new phones too.

Today, I finally asked. Apparently, this is the profile of restrictions that we apply. Jump restrictions blueprint - iPhones work very well.

will dig deeper into this more later this week and see what restrictions cause it...

  • My configuration of device portals

I am creating a portal of my camera so that users can add their devices on Cisco ISE 1.3. I have a pre configured sample, but when I click "test url" he heads for me a page asking identification of connection information. I use the same credentials used to connect to the ISE, but he said unmatched credentials. Any ideas why this is happening. Is he adding the credentials for each user who wants to access the portal?

Authentication for the "my device portals" are controlled by the "Identity Source sequence" parameter which is the "Portal settings" page and it is not related to the process of connecting to admin for ISE. You create a sequence including the preferred identity of the point of sale that users will use to connect to the portal and manage their devices.

    I hope this helps!
