  There is no change in the installation of Windows XP mode.

  Thanks for posting. Most likely you see it as your boot.ini is located on a drive corresponding to your system on a different drive. The easy way to do this would be to reinstall or do a repair on the computer installation. Please make a backup before attempting this.

  1.	When the message Press any key to boot from the CD appears on your screen, press a key to start your computer from the Windows XP CD.
  2.	When you see the message to install Windows XP nowand then press ENTER is displayed on the Welcome to the Setup screen, press ENTER.
  3.	Do not choose the option to press R to use the Recovery Console.
  4.	In the Windows XP licensing agreement, press F8 to accept the license agreement.
  5.	Make sure that your current installation of Windows XP is selected in the box, and then press R to repair Windows XP.
  6.	Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation.

  Another option would be to modify the boot.ini located directly on the root of your drive. Below is a knockout with instructions on how to do it. However please backup all your data by doing one of them because both can make your computer unbootable.

  If you can't find a driver update, you can try installing the driver in compatibility mode ' old'.  Simply right click the Installer do > properties > compatibility mode > choose OS

  A few days ago my hard drive died. No idea why, but it has just stopped working. I went out and bought a new hard drive at best buy and went home to install Windows Vista Home Premium. Everything works fine until it gets to "Expand the files" around 26%. Once it gets there it just goes to the 'Blue screen of death '. I use a serious Vista x 86 iso to install it (it was my old OS so I just used the serial code I had). I tried to install it 3 times now and no luck.

  Now when I turn on my computer it will say "press any key to start from the CD or DVD and BOOTMGR is missing. Press Ctrl + Alt + Del to restart"I did another disk and it burned at a lower speed and still happens. Anyone know what is happening?

  The DVD of Vista recovery Toshiba help you install Vista, all the drivers Toshiba and tools, and it automatically creates all the partitions.

  So what you have to do is to boot from the recovery DVD and follow the instructions on-screen ;)

  Do you mean the new HARD drive is NOT visible in the BIOS or the new HARD drive is not recognized by Windows XP Setup?
  Those are two different questions

  If the HARD drive is not recognized by the BIOS, then you used the disk HARD is not compatible.
  But if the HARD drive is not recognized by installing XP then you have not installed the SATA drivers that are packed in the Intel Storage Manager.

  Didn t drive recovery does not happen with the laptop because you had an option to create one using the preinstalled Toshiba recovery disc creator.

  You now have this disc which can be ordered here:

  Boot from that disk and follow the instructions on the screen.
  The recovery disk works also with the new HARD drive!

  You need to maybe go to the system BIOS and set the machine to boot from the CD first. Otherwise, unless the machine requires specific drivers for a SATA HDD you don't suffer problems installation of the OS. If, in fact, you have the operating system with Service Pack 1 (or 1A) integrated, then the limitations of disk of large size (greater than 137 GB) will not be a problem.

  I would recommend that make sure you that you have all your hardware drivers available before you start, especially for the network adapters (wired or wireless).

  Windows XP did not come with Internet Explorer 7, it came with IE6 and Outlook Express. However, once validated you should be able to get all the updates that are applicable for the machine, including the Service Pack and Internet Explorer 8. I suggest install you the latest Internet Explorer update, problems can occur if install you it before oyu (for some reason any) need to remove IE8 then install the latest service pack.

  You can install OEM XP Professional on a new hard drive on the same computer using the same CD key.

  If Windows XP asks you to activate the product, start the activation process via Internet.  If that says that the CD key has already been installed on another computer, activate by phone and explain the situation to the person at Microsoft.
