Preparing videos for digital magazine

Hello

Our magazine has a "Movie Preview" section and I'm having some problems preparing the files for the mag.

I downloaded videos from apple trailers and tried to reduce the size of the file in order to minimize the size of the magazine. Right now, the files are approximately 30 mbs or... I tried to use the Media Encoder (save as a mp4) but when I try to put these videos into my document I get an error message. I want to keep them around 10 MB or more.

Does anyone know the best practices for preparation/embedding videos? Y at - it a tutorial that I can use that will help you?

Thank you very much.

I use the hand brake to reduce the size of the file for my films. It's a free program.

To create a custom configuration of YouTube without the action of work upload, duplicate post it on YouTube setting. In the Inspector do any changes you need to the Audio and video settings that you want. Apply the setting custom in a source file and select the task in the Inspector > employment > Action, choose do nothing.

  • -Real Question - Digital Magazines are cool, really cool, but are really needed and used by the clients, honestly?

    Hi all

I've done some cool magazines with DPS and I enjoyed making them, but after a little more than a year, I have a question that I can't answer myself...

What I do with DPS makes sense or not? I guess I'm not the only one who thinks that.

I can't complain, I get people who download my free digital magazines, and I have a lot of ads and people who arrive, he loves it, but I don't really see that people really use digital edition on a large. It is difficult to find on the app store (to compare to games for example), we can really see the difference between the magazine with a lot of interactivity and PDF style mags... And I wonder if anyone cares about the future of digital/iPad Magazines.

How many people is aware of digital magazines honestly compare to Candy Crush or Angry Birds?

How is eager to get their magazines each month?

I do not really hear about digital magazines in life or on the internet (except specific sites on digital advertising or Design) honestly, people talk mainly about games, movies, music, cool some apps but never about Digital Publishing... When I talk to people about it, 100% of the time that I let them know that Digital Publishing is actually existing, and of course, they think it's cool...

But how many years can we make, sell and buy Digital Magazines? A few years already...

My magazine is quite successful I think, but he takes the time to do it, a LOT of time each month...

But I don't really see the future of publishing digital itself, so the future of my magazine too...

    What's your thought?

    Thank you

    See you soon

I have / had the same thoughts.

I still do digital magazines, but there is no great interest in this subject over the side customers. Less not as digital publications are doing for now (with content Apps done in InDesign/XPress and enriched with scrolling more late especially perhaps some videos, slideshows and materials). Looks like we did the same experiments how people react. People do not know that they exist. If show you them, there is an effect wow for about 5 seconds. If you ask that you showed the digital magazine a few days later how many digital magazines, read it or take out a subscription. My experience. Less than 2% do so.

In fact, the trend will magazines websites with content, design, collection and sharing opportunities tailored to the needs specific to the magazine content and also suitable to the needs of the readers. The DPS (various vendors) was never able to achieve this feature of such Web sites. If you asked me for my prediction a few years ago, I would not say that. Even if not dead yet, the DPS solutions are in a State of coma. There are magazines successful on these platforms. But these are only a few hundred under hundred-thousands or even millions.

In general, the problem is not the media, but how the information is read and processed today. As internet access has increased, people have become very savvy about searching for information. This put the interest of traditional magazines on paper or in digital form almost to zero (no, the internet is not bad). There is a simple reason: he's a few years people bought a magazine only because they focused mainly on articles 1-3. Sometimes, they bought a second or third, to compare. The rest of the content was a goodie. Today, people know where to find the information they need easily in the World Wide Web (even once, the internet isn't bad). In addition, this information is often newer and more accurate that a magazine can be. The reader can find until he is satisfied. And this for a price free or limited without having to buy the complete kiosk as needed for magazines. The consequence is. Given that the player has already its information and all available sources, the reader is not interested to buy magazines anymore. There are the best ways to throw money out the window, my grandfather said.

And for those magazine being sold, there are the following main reasons: 1 readers don't like reading its content on a screen / 2. The magazine contains content, the reader will find only he / 3. Spontaneous purchases / 4. The reader wants to keep the content for later use (kitchen, technical documentation, etc.). Single point 2 and 3 can be used for digital magazines (point 4 is not in the list as digital publications are more complicated to check as you would with paper magazines).

And for the other 2 possibilities of sale of publications in digital form, there is a rule important experience of websites you must respect: you (as an editor) do not have more than 150 milliseconds to convince the reader from the moment where he is interested in something. And damn, it's fairly short and most publishers don't even have the knowledge or the ability to do so. DPS systems are also in support of this rule.

My 2 cents on Digital Publishing today!

  • Adobe DPS - tutorial video drop-down panels for digital issue of Indesign Magazine?

    Hello everyone

Try to get information in a video tutorial to tutorial drop-down panels for a Digital Magazine, I'm working on.

Had any advice for a multi object - State - but that's exactly what I need to and I'd love a video link I (everything is around f).

Make a Digital Magazine of Tech - have about 12 images on a page.

Want to touch an image and a text box context with technical info on this product came - I want all the other images on the page of ghost on the practice - and then I need a button to click to close the Panel down and return to the document and ready to click on another image.

Y at - it a tutorial online on how to do it. Hope someone has a link pleaae.

    Thanks: Daz

This is the best way to attack this as a beginner.

Create an InDesign file MultiPage with number of pages being equal to the

number of States desired for your MSO.

On the first page, design the base state. Copy and paste everything in the second

page and now design the second State.

And until you have finished. Now the group everything on each page and

Copy / paste in place everything in a single page. Create the ASM.

This will give you a pretty heavy file, but will give you a good

Foundation for the thought process required to do this.

I developed an Android application for a Digital Magazine with Digital Publishing Suite (Professional).

Several weeks ago, I received this message from Google game: "we wanted to let you know that your app (s) listed below statically link against a version of OpenSSL that has several vulnerabilities for users. Please migrate your app (s) to a new version of OpenSSL within 60 days of this notification. From 07/07/15, game Google will block the release of new applications and updates that use versions older, not supported by OpenSSL (see below for more details). »

I've updated the Android App using function Web app Designer, but they keep sending me this message. I don't understand what I have to do.

    Hi Sheila,

If you connect to your Google game account, it will show you who sent you the warning to the apps. The generator on the web app produces Android apps which are not affected by this vulnerability.

  • Incoming audio levels can be adjusted for digital video capture in Premiere Pro?

Incoming audio levels can be adjusted for digital video capture in Premiere Pro?  Or is the audio in digital images a fixed entity that cannot be adjusted once it is imported into an editing software?  Recently, I have captured 14 hours the Strip that constantly weak but usable audio levels.  I couldn't see a way to set audio levels in the capture Panel, so I just left with just the default settings.

It is possible that the lessee of his experience on the production has been conservative with its levels; they constantly peaking at nearly 9 meters of first, instead of more desirable 12.  But because they are so compatible, I wonder if I missed an option to set audio capture of levels when I did the band.

The levels are defined. In the way - 9 on the first meters are stronger than-12

  • Guidance workflow of design digital magazine

Hello... I do research on what would be the best course of action for my project... need to design a digital magazine for the web that is interactive and offers rich multimedia video, animations, etc.

I think to do what follows... design my animations in edge host who will be out html5 friendly animations, and then use Indesign to design my master digital magazine is the way I need multimedia embedded and interactivity have symbols.

I'm not sure of my next step, or if I'm on the right track... should I bring in this Indesign file in a format compatible with Html5, CSS3, Wordpress or what? And Jquery plugins within the overall structure to add flash like effects.

    Any suggestions?

Design of a digital magazine for the web using InDesign as a main tool is not possible with only a CC subscription or license number unique edition. You buy Professional Edition or Enterprise Edition DPS to create a web viewer for your magazine with InDesign and DPS.

  • Digital magazine publishing

    Hello

I am a beginner with the digital edition and can't find the answer I'm after, mainly because I'm very new to all this.

I start my own magazine digital only person on a very tight budget, I created in InDesign with a subscription to creative cloud. I have a site where I want people to be able to download the magazine, but I don't know yet if this is possible with the DPS or if it must be sold through the app store. Can someone tell me please in the right direction? I have a subscription to Lynda and can access all the tutorials but I am unsure of what I should look at in terms of publishing the file distribution once my InDesign file is ready to go.

I made which relates to downloading my test for the producer of folio file, but I don't know where to go to from there. My only option to build an app for the magazine must be read? Is there another way to look at the file first? I used the Adobe Content Viewer, but I have a lot of interactive elements (scrolling pictures, YouTube videos integrated, slideshows, buttons) and animation that do not appear in the content viewer.

I feel like a big step which is probably right in front of me I miss him! I appreciate really all the tips to avoid travel. Thank you very much.

I have a site where I want people to be able to download the magazine : this is possible with DPS Enterprise edition, do not use DPS unique edition/CCM. In addition, it needs Apple iOS Developer Enterprise License as well.

Is my only option to build an app for the magazine be read : all supported overlays and interactivity is visible on Adobe Content Viewer on iPad. If it does not work in STROKE, most likely it will not work on the app.

Since you have CCM, you can create applications to copy and will have to submit to the Appstore for intensive distribution or individually add up to 100 s UDID in your files Mobile commissioning for distribution to specific devices.

  • All work for Adobe on the features to be aware of location for applications magazines?

    Hi all

I did some research in marketing opportunities based on the location for our title on the digital side, and I'm curious to know if the admin of Adobe or its users have experimented with "geofencing" or "location aware" capabilities for applications magazines. I came across a of, company of software development UK who did for some publicationsand tried this morning. (It's cool). Basically, a user gets full access to the content once that their location services indicates that they have seized a predetermined 'zone'. They also get a push notification when they enter this area. Word on the street, if it's something Adobe is looking in / has developed? We would certainly wishes to add a feature like that - or the development in a certain way with Adobe

    Thank you!

Yes, Adobe supports JavaScript geolocation API. For example, you can use these APIs in the library or store to determine where a player and filter the content on this site. Or, you can display different content in an article according to the location of the user. The free app from the DPS advice includes an example which shows the nearest seafood restaurant (DPS tips > HTML examples > Geolocation APIs).

See Getting Started with geolocation API | Adobe Developer Connection.

  • How can I get my file of folio CS6 (digital magazine) to my iPad without an internet connection?

    Hi all

How can I get my file of folio CS6 (digital magazine) to my iPad without an internet connection? I'll be in a place without internet connection and have yet to get my folio of the files from my laptop to my iPad to share with my clients. I looked everywhere but can't seem to find how to do this.

    Thank you!

Depends on what you mean by part. If you want to put your folio on ipad of your customer, so they can listen to samples, everything they do is jack their iPad to your computer, launch content adobe Viewer and click Preview on the device in the folio generator Panel. This will push your folio on their ipad. Then, they can view content.

If by hand, you mean... give physical files for you customers so that they can do (honestly I don't know what they would do with one file other than view folio it on the device), there is no way to do it.

  • Video for event staging

We are currently editing a video for 4 screens at once in a sequence.  Some of the images in this video is a canon 7 D camera that captures JPEG images in sequence.  Starting from After Effects, our Mac guy exported QuickTimes (Animation Codec .mov) with a size of 2560 x 540 pixel and a 1.5 pixel format.

I'm experimenting with Neo4K of CineForm because awkward Quicktime files do not play back very smooth of the timeline.  AVI files using the much better Cineform codec playback from the timeline during editing.

    Question:

CineForm designates its codec as 'intermediate '.  Does this mean that it is just right for the edition, and once you have the piece published, do you a 'Replace Footage' order and bring back the originals from which you export your "view master"?

I tried calling CineForm, but nobody seems to be in their office, and they have yet to return my calls.

A digital intermediate is a 'replacement' file, ideally with minimum quality loss to the original, which can be worked in a digital environment.  Most of the films shot on film will be the celluloid analog scanning laser in digital files that the editor can then work with on a computer.  Originals of digital cinema (RED, Genesis, etc.) does not require step of DI, as the support is already in digital form that can be used directly.

CineForm files are the equivalent to sometimes difficult to edit digital originals, those who unwisely used a form any temporal compression (HDV, AVCHD, etc.).  They serve as "originals" in any change, including a permanent export.
