Problem adding network printer, "Add a printer" link is no longer available

I am trying to connect to a network printer.  However, after failing the first time, I can't open the link "Add a printer".  By clicking on the link "Add a printer" does nothing now and will not open the add printer for me to add a Printer Wizard.   Any help will be appreciated.

Hi Jaron_Wong,

See the following article to help set up your network printer:

http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/start-here-to-set-up-a-network

If this does not help, you can try a system restore:

I hope this helps!

Hi, I have a desktop pc (XP pro), linked to a DSL / wireless router. I also have my laptop (XP pro) I use at work, which I use for most wireless home but who want to print on my network printer. So I installed the printer through my desktop pc, Copy to my router and everything works fine...

... However, I can't install it on my laptop. I tried to add through the 'Add printer' Wizard in XP - I added the name of the printer (HP439760) in the dialog box «Connect to this printer...» "initially, he asks me a username and password. Great, I thought - I have no idea what these details are as I have not put them to the printer. Each later after the first time that I have to say, the password prompt does not - only the error message saying the printer is not found. I have to sign out and then sign back in, in order to display the password box when I try and add the printer.

I would be grateful if someone can make sure I'm doing this right by asking some questions - looks like it's a simple task to add a printer on another computer!

    1. any ideas I can see why the password box when I try and add the printer? That the user name and password would be - as I have already mentioned, I have not set these for the printer and don't even know how. Could it be related to username / password for my desktop - the machine, I used to install the printer on the network in the first place, or the credentials of my laptop as I normally connect to a domain at work?

2 - is the right way to add the printer, or should I use the downloadable exe file from the support page of the printers? I prefer not to do this as there seems to be a lot of software that is also installed when you install the printer and I don't want to install it on my work laptop - I just want to be able to print at home!

    Thanks in advance.

Well, it seems like all I had to do was to use the database page to download - all fixed driver package.

  • Problem adding network printers; received this message error «Windows cannot connect to the printer or the name of the printer...» »

    Hello

I have a Windows XP pro (Lenovo) that I recently ran the recovery and returned to certain configurations of 1.5 years. Now I can't add a network printer and get always the message error «Windows cannot connect to the printer or the name of the printer...» ». I ping the printer and all on my network can add these printers, it's just that a machine that fails to add network printers.

I disabled the firewall, but were still unable to add the printer. Then I found some difficulties to register for a similar problem, but they were not useful... It really becomes a big headache, especially Windows restore does not work...

I strongly suspect that 1.5 years, someone has renamed the printer.  Use Windows Explorer to navigate to the print server through My Network Places and see what it's callednow .  Otherwise, you could ask your network/system administrator.  You should know... • Error adding network printer

I created, deleted and created again, a printer in network in Server 2008 Standard.  I shared out and I am able to see the printer in the list when you add a network printer using a XP 32 bit workstation.  When I try to add the printer from a workstation, I get the following error.

"Unable to connect to the printer. the name of the printer has been correctly entered, or the specified printer has lost the connection to the server.

I ping the IP so I know it's good.  Part of my troubleshooting was to open Printers and faxes, open the file menu, click Server properties, click the tab drivers to remove the 1815dn printer driver that existed.  Then, I rebooted the PC and tried to add to the printer queue new but still the same error.

I am also able to send a test print from the server to the printer.

I also opened the properties of the printer on the server and selected Advanced tab drivers and ensured that x 86 has been selected. Any suggestions?

  • Problem with network printing on HP C6180

It is a strange... I installed the drivers from HP on a new MacBook.  HP printer tools can see the printer (we can see the web services of the printer and can see the status of printer ink) but when I go to print in Word... the document hangs in the coil.

It seems to be a timeout issue... or a problem of communication... in these events should be... because I see the printer... I am at a complete stop on the way to get this impression of thing.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

What type of connection (wired or wireless) network do you use for your printer?

You can browse internal printer tab Hello of Safari Web page?

If you can browse your printer, then try to delete the print queue of the printer and add it again.  To do this, since your Mac system preferences, print and application.

  • Import the link is no longer available

As I wrote in http://communities.vmware.com/thread/289643 , I was able to resolve a previous question but remove a virtual machine from the database and then import once more.

I had a similar problem today so I wanted to try this option first. Delete the virtual machine of the inventory was no problem, but its importation... :-(

When I go to the data store several VMware files are only shown as type 'file', including the vmx file. When I right click on the vmx file there is no import option. :-(

I did some update on the vCenter system but it is still a vSphere Client 4.1.0 (build 258902). In the plugin Manager, I see the vCenter converter 4.2.0. as allowed it. I have also the vCenter Converter Standalone 4.3.0 on this machine so if it's a quick fix... But how?

Anyone know what I have to look?

    Bonno

To make sure that this is not a problem of vCenter server, please connect to a host ESX (i) and open the browser to store data there. You get the item "Add to inventory" when you right click on the vmx file.

  • Cannot add a network printer

I have a problem with the printer! I have a network printer connected to my router via ethernet. I use the printer via wifi of two macbooks.

I got an error 'printer not connected' and have already tried the following several times:

    • reset the router
    • restarted the printer
    • Reset my printing system
    • renamed the folder library/printers
    • reinstalled my driver of Canon software
    • fact a boot secured my MacBook, then a normal departure

When I try to add the printer again (of course it was removed by rebooting) I don't see anything via Bonjour (in the default tab). The printer has a valid address (via DHCP) and I can ping to my macbook. I also tried to add the printer through the address IP (IPP) - it does not print.

I get all printing stations I can find no joy... help please!

    OS X 10.11.3 • Canon MF8050 driver 10.6 • VDSL modem/router TRENDnet

    Peter

This morning, I tried to add a printer, and - as the magic - my printer appears in the window by default. Quickly, I added, print a test page, and then other PDF via Preview. Awesome! Then I tried to print a poster with Acrobat Reader, and I'm back for the message "printer not connected" that marked the beginning of my problems a week ago. Again, I have reset the printing system, even reinstalled two versions (more recent and earlier) drivers. I can ping the printer, but cannot add via IP either.

I searched more problems and solutions print, but in vain.

    Help, please!

  • How to add a network printer?

How can I add a network printer?

The printer has a wired connection to a router.  Its local IP address is 192.168.1.105.  The name of the printer is NPI64867B.

My laptop has a wireless connection to the same router.  Of course, access to the network works fine, since I can submit this announcement.  Also, I can ping the IP address of the printer from the laptop.

I have in the control panel printers, click Add printer, select "A network printer", select "Browse for printer", then click Next.  The following text is displayed:

Note that NPI64867B does not appear in the list "shared printers.  Does?

If I manually enter NPI64867B in the box of the printer and click Next (which should work?), I get the following error:

If it's important, I have another printer in network configured on the computer.  It's for another domestic network, so it is not connected now.  The name of the printer is NPI6AAA13.  I deselected the option 'Always print to this device, even if its IP address changes', nothing helps.

The port of the existing network printer name is the name of the printer, HPLaserJet200colorMFPM276nw product.  The printer I am trying to add has the same product name.  Is this a problem?  If so, can I change the name of an arbitrary name (currently unused) pre-existing port?

    Do this way:

    1. Open Printers and faxes
    2. Click on add a printer
    3. Click "Next", select "local printer" and make sure the box "Automatically detect my printer Plug-and-Play" is NOT checked
    4. Click "Next", select "create a new port", then select "Standard TCP/IP port" in the drop-down list (Note - If the printer that you are adding is an HP printer and if the drop-down list includes "HP Standard TCP/IP Port" select that instead; more details later)
    5. Click 'Next' in the standard TCP/IP Printer Port Wizard Welcome screen
    6. For "printer name or IP address" type 192.168.1.105; the "Name of Port" box is filled in automatically, but you can change it to something more useful, like Office LaserJet or a printer room bedroom, etc..
    7. Before you click 'Next', confirm that the printer is turned on
    8. Click 'Finish' to complete her Add Port Wizard and return to the add a Printer Wizard
    9. Select your model and the manufacturer of the printer and the wizard

A very common problem with the printers on a network that are left at the default setting for automatically an IP address is that they have a different IP address by the DHCP server on the router if the printer is turned off for a period of time.  The Windows printing system does not detect IP address changes, and therefore the communication with the printer is lost.  'HP Standard TCP/IP Port' has the ability to detect the printer, even if its IP address changes.  You should definitely select this option or - and this is the best practice - assign a static IP address for printers all in network.

Printer HP Officejet 7300 network series that allows to work flawlessly with El Capitan does not work after the upgrade to Sierra.

With macOS Sierra, when used as a network print service printer works fine however scan does not work. Programs like the Image Capture, HP Easy Scan etc does not see the printer. However, if the printer is directly connected to the Macbook Pro using the usb cable, a new printer is added to the list of printers (it shows print and scan functions while the printer network in the list shows only printing function) and the scanner works well with Image Capture, etc. If the usb cable is removed disconnects this printer in the list and there is no way to turn it on. I have the latest update for the printer installed from the App store. It looks like a driver issue, but I wonder if there is a work around for this problem...

Open Preview.app. Under file in the menu bar, you see import of 'name of your scanner?
