Problem installing under Linux

Hey world-

I tried to configure my machine nagios to monitor a server ESXi 4.1.0 but have been unsuccessful so far.  I tried to use a python code open source here but the ESXi server returns only (' '). I then tried to install the vSphere SDK for Perl, but I've been running a strange problem.

I tried to follow the installation guide that I found here , but I can't extract the file on the linux machine, despite the number of channels different unzip I try.  I was able to open it on a computer Windows XP and FTP the file to the linux machine, but when I run the command to install (./vmware-install.pl) nothing happens.  Then, I open the file, and there's nothing in it. While they inspected the file size, there was 0 bytes. I thought I could have a bad file, but after you download and try again several times, I am always unsuccessful.  There is something that escapes me, or should I just try monitor the server in a different way?

Hello

I used the plugin op5, works pretty well. It has dependencies, you must install a number of things on your linux machine:

-Nagios::Plugin (libnagios-plugin-perl)
-Crypt::SSLeay (libcrypt-ssleay-perl)
-XML:LibXML:Common (libxml-libxml-common-perl)
-XML:LibXML:Parser (libxml-libxml-perl)
-Class::MethodMaker (libclass-methodmaker-perl)

on the other hand, if you do not have experience with installation and maintenance, there is a device:

(the original site is the Poland).

It's the best way to run nagios.

I'm a bit new to Linux, and my friend gave me a copy of freespire to try. So far I managed to install Mozilla Firefox successfully, which was surprisingly easy.

At the moment, I can't install Adobe Flash Player, but... I'm just following these instructions on the download page:

    . tar.gz installation

    1. click on the 'download. tar.gz"link. A dialog box will appear asking you where to save the file.
2 keep the. tar.gz file to your desktop and wait for the file to download completely.
3 unzip the file. It will create a directory called install_flash_player_9_linux.
    4. in the terminal, navigate to this directory and type. / flashplayer - install to run the installation program. Click on enter. The installation program will ask you to close your browser (s).
    5. once the installation is complete, the plug-in will be installed in your Mozilla browser. To check, launch Mozilla and choose Help > about Plug-ins from the browser menu.

I followed the steps successfully up to now, but for some reason I can't get Konsole to recognize/run the flashplayer - install... After you follow the instructions for step 4, I get the following response:

    bash: ~ / install_flash_player_9_linux # /flashplayer - install
bash: /flashplayer - install: no such file or directory

Which is strange, because I'm looking for good home. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong, or it could be the cause?

  • LabVIEW application developed on windows can be installed under linux?

    Hi all

I use suite developer LabVIEW 2009 on windows 7 PC. I was wondering if the application created with labview on PC can be deployed on the linux platform? If not, is it possible to develop the LabVIEW application on windows to deploy on linux platform?

I was also wondering if computers single-board as Beagleboard, Raspberry Pi are loaded with linux, labview application can be deployed on these computers?

(in simpler words, I wonder, with existing suite of Labview 2009 developer on windows, can I develop a data acquisition application and deploy it on single-board computers that have linux installed on them.)

    Thank you!

    Nilesh-

To create an exe on a Linux platform, you need LabVIEW for Linux with its application builder. You can open the source on the Linux machine.

  • Having trouble getting CF11 install under Linux

    Hello

First of all, apologies if this (or a similar version) eventually posted here twice.

I am trying to install CF11 (ColdFusion_11_WWEJ_linux64.bin) on a Scientific Linux machine and make me what follows, as he out craps:

    Preparing to install...

Extract the JRE of archive installation...

    Unpacking the JRE...

Extracting the installation resources from archive installation...

Configure the installer for this system environment...

    Launch of installation...

JRE libraries are missing or is not compatible...

    Output of...

    OpenJDK 64-bit Server VM (build 24, 65 - b04, mixed mode)

Any of you have any suggestions for what I should do to get this to install?

    Thank you

Well, it was apparently a weird failure mode when / tmp was full.  By defining IATEMPDIR on something with more space, I was able to have it end.  Must say, this is not intuitive.  :-\

  • Detect programmatically whether AutoVue DD is installed (Windows/Linux)

    Hello

I need help to detect if the user AutoVue Desktop Deployment installed (on Windows/Linux operating systems) via Java. Under Windows I thought on the lookout records under "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" without success (at least, I couldn't find any registry on AutoVue). Under Linux, I suppose I could use something like 'whereis' to find autovue.exe, but Windows is a priority at the moment. Hope you guys can help me pointing a few ways to solve my problem.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Lucas,.

This seems to be a question of Java/Windows rather than a specific safety issue. Check Registry sounds like a good approach. If DD AutoVue is installed you should be able to find it under the same registry path where you can find other programs installed (for example HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall). Remember, if you have installed on 64-bit, it could be in the "Wow6432Node" path under \SOFTWARE.

  • Problem installing vmware in Ubuntu 11.10 tools

I've upgraded from vmware workstation 7 to 8 on a windows 7 pro workstation. I've added to my VM - 11.10 Ubuntu guest. Now I have a problem installing vmware tools.  That's what I did:

((1) installed Ubuntu 11.10 CD in the drive, 2) open vmware and Tools CD added to office.  (3) connect you open terminal window.and.  Since I'm new to Linux, I'm stuck on how to set a password.  I type sudo passwd root, and I can't type anything in the window.

Ideas or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

    You have two questions unrealated

    (1) with respect to the OS - Ubuntu 11.10 - these shoud guest invited on ubuntuforums.org Creafe a connection there and ask in the beginner's forum.

Tip - You don't really have need a password for root in Ubuntu.  Use you sudo to run root permisssions wherer programs are needed.  He said on top of each terminal.

    (2) you have any questions on how to install VMware Tools in a Linux (Ubuntu 11.10) Guest.  You most certainly need assistance with this.  In the toolbar of the program, you will see a tab called "Help".  It only contained other information you are looking for.

See the sections on VMware Tools.   They are really useful!

Tip: You do not use the OS installation disc that you used to create the virtual machine. Look closely under the VM tab at the top. There will be an option in the drop-down list that says "The Install Vmware Tools" you need to select this option.  The insatll will be mounted as if by magic in SLE directory/Media in the comments.  Copy the tarred on this cdrom in / tmp.  Then naviagate (carefully) in / tmp and unpack the file you copied.  Carefully change (look at you spelling - do what I say - not as I do in this post!) to the directoyrf that was created.  Exceute as su (i.e. root - like in the 1 trick.)  the .pl program wiil be contain breast.  Technically, this is called a "script" don't forget to put a. / before the script name or the bad dthing don't know he lives there.  He will ask youj on many issues.  Answer Yes to all these thatg you can.  Most likely, he will say he does not find the gcc compiler (gcc to learn more about the new program of thisbrfand the man.  He complains of missing headers.  Exit the script (Ctrl + c).  Run a progarlm (as root!) called apt - get.  Type the command apt - get install build-esseential.  Thatt is going to install the compiler you need!   Yes still needs to install the header ogical file well! Phew!  The best way I found to do this is to install a nifty program called synaptic. Use apt - get install synaptic.  I think that Ubuntu even comes with a somewahat more easy to program called apt - get it will tell you and have fun there no Super Powers mean if you type an incorrect order!   I digress from the subject.   So, you can use use "sudo aptitude install synaptic l.  Now issue the command uname - r.  He sleeps on the same kernel you use since I use Ubuntu 11.10 asI type while I'm about to uplgrade to the very scary Ubuntu 12.04.  You don't want to do it yourself.

    3.0.0 - 12-Generic

Now launch Synaptic.  There will be a message the first time on the program expalining.  If you want to see it every time to understand this program if y0ou forget don't check the box saying you don't wang to see this every time.  BTW youi will be asked for your root passworfd to run the program.  Hope you rfemembered it!

In any case in the search box copy, then paste the result above (one that ends with - generic - but anything copylthe) there will be l be a long list of items, but choose the one that has the string above and the word "headers".  Insatll who.  After all it can return to the order which took end. / pl and run it once more.  Answere questions.  It will end with the encouraging words (you can take advantage of the VMware Tools.  Then, run the command - vmware-toolbox as it says.

F well there you have it in short.  My price for Linux and Mwar advice is reawsonable please contact me at one of my addresses, alias - [email protected] and we can talk about payment.

  • E.M.P. 11 under linux

    Hello

Can you please let me know if I can download EMP 11.1.2.2 Media Pack for Linux x 86-64 in windows desktop local and make the necessary extraction of installation files (ie., decompress part1, 2, 3., etc.) in working directory and finally move the folder extracted from the Linux server for the installation.

Please let me know will there be no problem in installing Linux env because files are extracted in windows.

    Please enter you.

    Thank you
    Hari

You can extract on windows, you can create a samba share and then access files, even though it's pretty easy unzip the files under linux.

  • Webhelp created with RoboHelp HTML installed on Linux server crashes when view with Firefox

We have just started using the Adobe Technical Communication Suite to a single source our documentation and have worked on most of the kinks, except for a sticking point in the Webhelp generated with RoboHelp. We need our help system to work with IE and Firefox. When aid is run locally on a Windows machine, IE and Firefox work fine.

When help is installed on our Linux-based server, the help of opening causes Firefox hang unless Firefox is configured to use Unicode encoding. Unfortunately, the Firefox default is Western Europe. We do not control the environments of our customers, and we can not just to document this problem because FireFox users will not be able to open the help system more about the fix.

During the investigation of this problem, we discovered that RoboHelp is insert a blank line at the beginning of each HTML file. This blank line is innocuous in IE and in Firefox when the help is installed locally, but when help is installed on a Linux server, the empty line causes Firefox to hang unless the Unicode encoding is selected. It seems that under Linux, the empty line is converted to 3 characters corrupt, that can be seen if you look at the source code.

It is a showstopper for us, unless a workaround can be found. My questions are:

    (1) is this a known problem?
    (2) is it possible for RoboHelp to eliminate blank lines?
    (3) is there a way to force FireFox to use Unicoding encoding for our help system (for example, by changing our CSS file)?

    Thank you!

    Welcome to the forum.

A bit beyond me, but I wonder if article 22 on this page of my website help.

    http://www.Grainge.org/pages/authoring/RH7/using_rh7.htm

The reference to 3 corrupt characters, is what prompted me to think about it.

  • nvarchar fields do not come with hsodbc connection under linux

    Hi all

I want to access the database of MS SQL server oracle database using hsodbc connection under linux.

I followed following steps to reach higher.

    1. sql server installed easysoft odbc driver
2 configured odbc.ini with information on sql server.
    3. create initSQLSERVER.ora and placed under < host ora >/hs/admin
4 created earpiece and tns name
    5 created db link

I am able to query MS SQl, oracle, but any column defined as nvarchar or ntext server tables are not displayed.

Everyone has this problem and have the solution?

Note: I did the same configuration in windows, but works well.

    Thank you

    Mani,
I think you have misunderstood my last update.
Patch 5965763 is not a patch to install DG4ODBC in the RDBMS 10.2. It's only a patch that allows to 10.2.0.3, 10.2.0.4 (including 5965763) or + 5965763 to use the gateways of 11 g that are installed in separate directories of ORACLE_HOME.
You can not just change the program in a listener of 10,2-dg4odbc.
Have you installed the software DG4ODBC in another new ORACLE_HOME of the 10.2 install?
If so, you should start the listener of this ORACLE_HOME and not the ORACLE_HOME 10.2 DG4ODBC.
If you have access to My ORacle Support, take a look at these notes-

    Note.466228.1 how DG4ODBC Setup on Linux x 86 32 bit
Note.561033.1 how to Setup DG4ODBC on 64 bit OS Unix (Linux, Solaris, AIX, HP - UX)

My laptop (HP Probook 4440 s) is in the list of laptops with BIOS updates related to security issues [1].

I did recently on my HP ProBook 450 G2 Kubuntu Linux 15.10 running.

A new version of the BIOS (01.16 Rev.A 1 December 2015) was available, but for Windows only.

What I had to do to install the BIOS under Linux:

    * Download the exe file (for example: sp74048.exe): this is an archive

    * unpack with 7zip

    * go to my laptop configuration: restart, press [ESC] >

Configuration of the BIOS F10 > MAIN > system update BIOS > BIOS update using local media

    * read the instructions:

"Place the system on a FAT32 partition no BIOS BIN file more

on the system or on a removable USB hard drive

    under the folder "Hewlett-Packard\BIOS\New.

Then, add or verify that the HP Bios update utility (HpBiosUpdate.efi)

and the signature file (HpBiosUpdate.s12) are

on the same partition FAT32 under

the path to the following folder: "Hewlett-Packard\BIOSUpdate. »

    * Take a flash drive, create the folder ""Hewlett-Packard\BIOS\ " "

copy the whole folder "BIOSUpdate" since the original installation file for her

create the "New" folder and copy the bin on it (in my case "M74_0116.bin")

    * If at the end, the flash drive looks like this:

    \---Hewlett-Packard

    + - BIOS

    | \---New

    |      Mxx_xxxx. bin

    |

    \---BIOSUpdate

    all files here

    * place the flash drive in the laptop and "BIOS update using local media" hit the button [I accept] below "the system BIOS will be updated immediately.'." "

Then update the BIOS HP appears saying: the system BIOS is updated day. > writing new BIOS Image. > Veryfying new BIOS Image. > restart.

    Fact.

It is really beyond me why HP does not provide a simple archive with the appropriate directory structure and a readme file so that anyone could update the BIOS regardless of operating system.

Warning: I'm just an average Linux user. This procedure worked for me, but before use, you must consider the risks for yourself. You SHOULD know what you're doing.
