PROBLEM: M50 - 164 (satellite) Netgear WGT624 wireless

Hello
I've just set up a Netgear WGT264 wireless router on my daughters (1 MB) cable Modem. The router works fine and all indicators work, including the LED of radiation. We can connect via RJ45 Ethernet and we can surf and Messenger, so all OK.
However, does not seem the Tosh 'know' wthat there is a wireless local area network - we cannot connect if the RJ45 cable is removed.
I tried to configure the on-board Tosh and the small and LED on the front is on and used the radar LAN wireless location, but didn't get any results. I just get a popup telling me to go on the "wireless device".
The integrated Tosh and the compatible Netgearlook, the two 802. 11 a/g, but I have no indication whatsoever of any activity.
Tosh is able to 'see' the Netgear independently to know if I have correctly configured (plug 'n play) style?
The online manual, under LAN wireless, said that some computers in this series are configured with a LAN mini-PCI Wireless card... If there is a switch wireless on the front, that means there is a map on board, or do I still need a mini-PCI card?
Help me, please...
Steve

Hello

Generally the fault 10 code should be solved by the re - install the latest drivers and uninstall and reinstall the device.
Please see the page of the Toshiba driver for the right driver and try to reinstall wireless driver. Once this procedure please check device manager if the exclamation yellow mark doesn t appear.
Please don t forget go on air wireless with FN + F8 key combination.
If that fails to solve the problem, then I'm afraid the device may be dead and must be replaced.

Have you looked in the user manual? You'll find where is the wireless switch.

The wireless switch is on the front of your laptop on the left side. The rule must switch on it otherwise the WLAN functionality is disabled.

  • Equium M50-164 - Touchpad problem if an AC/DC adapter is connected

    Hello

Can anyone help? My Toshiba Equium M50-164 has intermittent problems with the touchpad. Sometimes its fine, sometimes the cursor will jump around the screen, out of control, then comes oneself, the problem goes away when I remove the power cable and returns when it is reconnected.

Other times it is fine with the power cable plugged, it suggests maybe the power supply causing a problem for me, but I was hoping that someone with more experience could give me some advice.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

You are using an original from Toshiba AC adapter or to a 3rd party manufacturing?

It's not easy to say what the reason is, it could be a problem of AC adapter or motherboard.
I think the best way is to contact you nearest authorized service provider. Go to them with the laptop and the AC adapter and ask a technician for help. They can check the laptop and the material.

    Good luck! :)

    Hi dazzablack,

What operating system is installed on your laptop? You use the preinstalled version of Windows 7 in Toshiba or your own installation?

Maybe the problem has something to do with the WLAN energy saving settings. I check the Windows power management and set the card WLAN for maximum performance. If you can ensure that you will always have the best performance of WLAN. :)

  • Equium M50-164: Question about timer use & battery fan

    Hello!!

Just put your hands on my laptop equium m50-164 today and I wanted to clarify a few issues

    first of all,

I flashed my bios with the latest version and after restarting, fan kicks at full power and has not extinguished until I put the laptop in standby mode, this seemed to fix the problem but fan seems suddenly in much more than compared to before, fortunately the fan isn't the one 100% , but more like 15-20% every 30 seconds or one minute then goes into silent mode the fan does not reach 100%, unless I have do a reboot :),.

I know the fan will accelerate faster based on the use of the processor (thermal) etc. but is this normal? I talked to support and they wanted me to have an immediate replacement, but I said that I would wait a few days to see if she could calm :)

and finally looking at the electricity meter and other software tools there seems to be no calibration of the battery, with previous laptops, I noticed that numeric calculations are made based on the use of the battery and time [i.e. a timer] but with this laptop that I kind find a timer - I would of thought tha any computer laptop has this facility today!

    any advice would help

    see you soon

    Ephid0r UK

    Hi ephid0r

If the Toshiba service makes an instant replacement if you should take it.
Maybe there's something wrong with the hardware or software.

But as Feliks has suggested, you must first reinstall the Toshiba Power Manager.
This utility is responsible for the CPU and the cooling module activations.

PS: The time of battery life indication occurs if you move the cursor over the icon of standby power.

  • Re: Satellite L500D - speed wireless worsens considerably with lid closed

    Hello

The last 3 days have been nerve wrecking for me. I am the owner of a Satellite L500 D and at the moment, I decided to connect it to an external monitor, to enjoy a better visual experience, until I have buy a desktop computer.

Well, day 1, I had problems with the speed of the wireless connection (the laptop is related to the router via a wireless connection only). Physically, what I've done, it is simply connect the monitor to the laptop, while closing the lid, so it won't get in the way. And Yes, I had already checked the 'Status quo' feature in the desktop "when I close the lid of my laptop.

I went to a speed of 30 Mbpps to love... 1 Mbpps, or even less, so that it becomes almost unbearable for surfing the web, let alone to download all the files. After calling my ISP support line and a subsequent visit by a technician (he's even changed the router), we were convinced that the problem lied in the router, or disruptions in the connections wireless neighbors, microwave ovens, cell phones, that sort of thing. I even thought that the problem had something to do with my wireless keyboard/mouse set that might interfere with the connection because it uses the same 2.4 Ghz band range.

After spending a lot of time to ruin my head, I suddenly noticed how the speed would increase simply by opening the lid of the laptop. And the surprise... If I just lift the lid a bit (like 10 cm) above the keyboard, I hear a sound of 'connection' and therefore, the connection speed is always high.

Have you ever had such an experience? Is the antenna (is it located anywhere in the keyboard?) of the adapter that stops whenever I close the lid? Is it possible to permanently program the computer to have the connection all the time?
Well, it has been an experience painfully education

    Appreciate your comments/solutions

    Paulo

    Hi Paulo

We speak/write here on laptops and computers laptops are designed for mobile use and all of the material placed in the laptop is also optimized for mobile use. It is logical that wireless antenna must be placed in the book part where it can get better WLAN signal. Because of this key WLAN antenna is placed around the screen. When you open the display WLAN antenna is best placed to pick up WLAN signal.

If you want to use the laptop as the lace and desktop replacement by with closed side cover I recommend using connectivity LAN only or perhaps some external WLAN as WLAN USB stick antenna.

  • Equium M50-164: mouse jumping when only on the main power

    Hi guys

    I have an equium M50-164...
around the age of 19 months

The touch pad slow corners and departures from flickering pointer and jump when the mainstream and it works normally when it's on battery...
Can you help me with this?

I tried to remove the battery, once again, fixing of reinstalling the driver etc...

Pls someone help me with this?

    Hi guy,

I'm afraid that this problem was caused by a malfunction of hardware and reinstalling all the drivers or software won't help m.
If all goes well there s nothing serious to a case value it might be something wrong with the motherboard and the repair would be costly.

But don t worry ;) in my opinion there of only one keyboard or touchpad fault.
So the replacement should not be very expensive
Before you continue with the new measures such as purchase, replacement parts, I would recommend contacting the service provider allowed for the provisional diagnosis.

    Good luck

  • Satellite L40 - the Wireless does not connect until svchost has been disabled

    Hello.

I have a Satellite L40 without BONES, I bought and I installed a XP/SP3. I have a small problem when I connect to my wireless NET. It does not connect until I open the Task Manager and remove one of the two svchost process open with the name 'network service '.

Someone has an idea of why this never happens and how to fix it (I can opperate thereafter, but is a little annoying to have to do each time).

    Thank you.

Tried to reinstall the wlan drivers and utilities already? When you do so, you should check the download pages of Toshiba for the latest version of the driver.

Is the WinXP installation you have performed, had integrated SP3 or SP2? Because I would like to know if wlan worked with SP2.

  • Equium M50-164 crashes when I put the battery

    I have an Equium M50-164.

I got it over a year now without any problems. I turned on this morning and it crashed (just a white, black screen) even when I tried to open it in safe mode. I have taken out the battery, but left the power cord in and it worked fine, without any problems at all, but when I put the battery with the power cable it crashed again. When you try to start it with just the battery, he would not do anything no lights, no boot at all?

    Help, please.

    Hello

    Does not sound good
Only the battery is dead and or malfunction of the electronic power supply on the motherboard.
    The two cases are possible.
Generally, the common user is not able to fix something like this.

Of course, we can run here on the malfunction but I n t think this will help you.
In my opinion, the laptop must be verified and some diagnostic tests must be started

  • Upgrade processor Equium M50-164

do we know if it would be possible to improve a processor M50-164 to a roughly 2 Ghz Dual core prosessor and which cases the cost please?

    Hello

As in the previous posting already suggested the dual core 2 processors are designed with different socket.
It will not be possible to upgrade a M50 with this CPU.

I studied a bit and it seems that
    -Intel Pentium-M Dothan 1.6 GHz, 1.73 GHz, 1.86 GHz, 2.0 GHz, 2.13 GHz
    and
-Intel Celeron-M Dothan 1.3 GHz, 1.4 GHz and 1.5 GHz
are supported and could be compatible with the motherboard.

But you should know that Toshiba doesn't support these upgrades, and if you modernize the CPU, so you can do it at your own risk!
It is possible that the laptop will not run stable.
In addition the overheating problem can occur because the faster CPU produce more heat.

  • Equium M50-164: IE does not display the pages correctly

I have a new Toshiba Equium M50-164, but it does not correctly display the my internet page at http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/lorne.anderson/Bridge/

    It should look like this:
    http://myWeb.tiscali.co.UK/Lorne.Anderson/NormalView.gif
with the bridge in the header, but on my Toshiba anaylser logo, it looks like this:
    http://myWeb.tiscali.co.UK/Lorne.Anderson/ToshibaView.gif

I have 4 other computers all display correctly (under XP, 2000, 98SE) and several of his friends say they can see OK. If I look at the HTML unlying by right click and view source in IE the fuse that displays the logo should read:
    "align ="left">".

Opens my software home page to see more programs

    "
but on the Toshiba, view poster source:
    "align ="left">".

    "
Note the blank line 2 where the code to display the logo should be. If I open the page of the files on my hard drive it is displayed correctly so my guess is that Toshiba have done something to the security IE by default overide settings but I do not see what. How can I get IE on my Toshiba to work how Microsoft has designed to work?

Just like a check, anyone who uses this forum can read the page correctly, or you also get the missing logo?

    Hello

Is this single page where you have this problem? Have you tried to open it with another browser?

Try to install the latest updates. Perhaps the problem will be solved.
