Problem of naming the folder music

When I insert files on my Clip +, the name of the music folders are fairly typical: "Poseidon - Music from the Motion Picture" and "Wicked - Original Broadway Cast Recording". "Yet when I search for the folder on my Clip + shows like: 0B050000_Poseidon [Music from the Motion Picture]" and "B0040000_Wicked (Original Broadway Cast Recording).

So why are the different names and how to fix it?

Oh, and Yes, I rename these files in the "Properies" field for each file.

Thank you!

As noted above, the likely answer is: ID3 tags.  In General, digital audio players, including the Clip, use metadata embedded in the content files to display on the screen.  Called ID3 tags, the tags include fields for the artist name, file title, year, genre, artist and other.  According to most players, file and folder names do not come into play under this system - this seems to be the situation you encounter.

Often, the ID3 tags are already filled when you purchase or otherwise obtain music files and audio books.  But not always, and some of the information may be incorrect or not to your liking.  Also, if RIP you your own files from a CD, the ID3 tag must be filled in.  Kindly, to help with this, Internet databases exist, which contains the information, and many rippers will automatically add the information in.

To facilitate your ID3 tags - to add the information in or to edit it, in the case where it is not correct, or at your convenience - you can use a tag editor.  Very good, without publishers are available online, such as the well regarded MP3Tag.

A few other things to note.  First of all, with the Clip + and Zip, actually navigate through your folders and files and not the player ID3 tag data base: If you go to the bottom of the category of music list, you should see the folders option, which allows you to navigate through your files and Setup files.

Second, you can see your USB mode under settings of the player.  USB MTP mode can sometimes change the names of the files when they are transferred to the reader - mode MSC tends to be less problematic.  For example, you can set the mode USB, Meteorological Service of the Canada.  However, please note: a mixture of files transferred under 2 USB - MTP and MSC modes (Auto mode simply tries to use MTP mode but will return in MSC mode, as appropriate) - can be problematic, because your computer will only show the files that have been transferred in USB mode you are then connected to your player under.  And so, to avoid a mixture of the USB modes, you can set the drive in (for example) MTP mode, connect to your computer, transfer the content from your player to your computer, remove the drive and put into mode MSC and then transfer your content back to the player.  Note that the USB modes: If you use files protected by the management of digital rights, such as some content in the library, you must use MTP mode on your drive.

I hope that this information is of help-

  • Can I delete my folder "music" once that my music has been added to iTunes?

I just make the switch from a PC to a Mac and I'm currently putting all upward. As someone who has never used iTunes before that I have a simple question:

I had a music collection of reasonable size on my PC in a folder called "music". I copied this entire folder on a hard drive external and then pasted on my new iMac tab music in the finder. Then I started iTunes and added the majority (but not all) of the music in the folder "music" from my iTunes library. Am I right in thinking that iTunes actually another copy of all my music in the iTunes folder, which means that I now duplicated a lot of music? If he made a copy, can I now delete the folder "music" original? I took care until I copied it all from my PC that all of my pieces is in MP3 format only, not WMA at all.

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Thank you.

Am I right in thinking that iTunes actually another copy of all my music in the iTunes folder, which means that I now duplicated a lot of music?

If you have the default settings, the answer is probably yes.  To be sure, right-click any track in iTunes, choose 'Show in Finder', and you will see what copy of a song file iTunes uses.

If you have another copy of the song file, iTunes didn't need, and you can remove at your discretion.

  • Sansa Clip + not recognized by the Audi music interface

    Hello

I'm trying to connect my Sansa Clip to my music interface of cars (Audi A4, model 2010). My Sansa Clip says that he has plugged in and the battery starts to load, but my music interface of cars does not recognize the mp3 device. Anyone have any idea what can be the problem?

The Audi music interface manual says that there is a limitation in mp3 with "USB Device subclass 1, 2 and 6'.» What may be the problem, that "subclass" Sansa Clip + have they?

Thanks for your reply and your quick response!  Your answer solved my initial problem. Now the music interface of the car recognize my Sansa Clip, but now the problem is that it cannot find the files that can be read. I noticed the same 'phenomena' trying to find music via my computer files, when having put MSC is not possible to see all the files. I have .wma and .mp3 files both on the Sansa Clip.

Is there a way to solve this problem as well?

Your computer cannot see or access the files that have been transferred to MTP mode when you are connected to the MSC and vice versa. It may be a similar situation with the stereo system in your care. You may need to remove all the files (build formattiing be the fastest way to do) and re - transfer to your player in MSC mode.

My computer seems to automatically rename the folder 'my music' to have my name. There are problems with my iPod, which will not initialize without finding a folder 'my music '.

Since this is a special folder, I can't change the name of my own. To move things, I created a new user on my computer and the iPod was recognized for a time, but the 'my music' folder name has changed, too.

Why the 'My music' folder name is changing, and what can I do to reverse the trend, or at least stop it.

  • The 'My music' folder keep resubmitting my individual songs in albums. I don't want that.

I store my individual music files in the folder "my music". I find that each song stored in alphabetical order makes it easier to search for songs to burn to a CD. It is faster than having to open each album folder.
But after about 2 weeks, some or most of the songs is put into album folders by themselves! It is a pain. I opened and moved the files back at least 3 times, (a lot of work I might add), only to have the files to move on their backs in the album folders.
Help I don't want to store my music into albums.
I even had a local man 'computer' look at my computer. He's thinking about a program, maybe Windows Media Player is the culprit, but otherwise don't know whay not happening.

    Marguhunter,

If the problem just started and you want to restore to an earlier point, when the problem did not exist, you can follow these steps:

To use system restore to restore Windows XP to a previous state, follow these steps:

    1. log in to Windows as an administrator.

    2. click on Start, point to programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click System Restore. System Restore starts.

    3. on the homepage to the system restore , click Restore my computer to an earlier time (if it is not already selected), and then click Next.

    4. in the Select a Restore Point page, click the last system restore point from the list on this list, click a restore point , and then click Next.

Note A system restore message may appear that lists configuration changes that system restore will make. Click OK.

    5. in the Confirm Restore Point selection page, click Next. System Restore restores the previous Windows XP configuration, and then restarts the computer.

6 log in the computer as an administrator. The full restore System Restore page appears.

    7. click on OK.

If you have successfully restored your computer to a previous state, and the computer works as it should, you are finished.

If the process of restore completed successfully, but the computer still does not work as you want, go to the section "how to undo a restoration of the system after performing a system restore.

  • "The system cannot find specified file", or "refers to a location that is not available" in my folder music Public

I have a problem with several files that I can't remove. I bought a new laptop Windows 7 a few months ago, and my music library is located in an old Mac I installed iTunes and copied everywhere, but for some reason, a couple of directories has become corrupted in the process. I was able to move a couple of them from 'C:\Users\Public\Music' to 'C:\Corrupted records' so I don't have to look at, but one of them is

refusing to move. If I try to open it, I get the message "C:\Users\Public\Music\P.O.D. refers to a location that is unavailable. It could be on a hard drive on this computer or on a network. Make sure that the disc is inserted correctly, or that you are connected to the Internet or your network, and then try again. If it still cannot be located, the informaqtion could have been moved to another location. »

If I try to get the properties, the type of file is a folder (.) that opens with Windows Shell common. Reading alone and Invisible are unchecked. It is not shared. The requested security information are either unavailable or cannot be displayed. There are no previous Versions. I tried optimizing for music and General items.

I tried to remove it from a command line, and although he can be seen in the directory, I get an error if I try to delete or move it. I tried to delete it in Mode without failure. I tried to create another folder with the same name, and it creates a folder without end '. ", I'm able to remove, but the original is still there. I have tried uninstalling iTunes and iTunesHelper.exe cessation force.   I ran a chkdsk.  I looked in the registry. I tried to reboot in safe mode and try it. I tried to create a new account and delete from there. I tried to reset the permissions. I even deleted my entire library of music. If I try to change properties it tells me that the "system cannot find specified file."

This issue is driving me crazy... I should be able to just go and start over, but I won't be able to copy this particular music folder. I could live without it, I suppose, but I wouldn't not to-I fear that this will happen in folders more if I can't find a solution. I could ignore it, but I am too a retention... I installed servers in a previous life, and when such things happen that we do something more deep is what concerns me in particular.

    Any suggestions? Please?

Hi Zarebeth. I have the answer to your problem. The problem you are having is the same problem I had, it's a file name that ends with a '. '. (one point). That's THE problem, which has also caused all of your previous attempts remove this folder to fail. Windows does not allow you to create such a file, but Mac FACT (you mentioned that your music library lay on an old Mac)! Try for yourself, create a folder in Windows called "P.O.D." and Windows automatically re-writing this folder as "Painter" (note the last missing point). MAC doesn't have a problem with that, you can call your folder "P.O.D." witout any problem (but also allows you to call this 'Painter' folder (note the last missing point)). The only problem is when a folder created on a Mac device ends on a computer Windows, that happened when you copied the musicfolder of your Mac on your Windows 7 laptop. For example, I had the problem with music "C:\Users\Public\Music\M.I.A" and "C:\Users\Public\Music\T.I." after that I copied the files from my Ipod Touch (also a feature of Mac of course) for my new Windows 7 laptop to function.

Now, I can only tell you how to remove this folder, I don't know how to recover all the data that have remained in this "indelible" folder (if any). What you can do of course, is to return to your old Mac, rewrite the "P.O.D." folder as "Painter" (note the last missing point) which will BE recognized by your computer laptop Windows 7.

It's very simple, and you'll wonder how the sollution might actually be this simple :))

GO to "command prompt" (start > all programs > Accessories > prompt) then in the command prompt (the small black screen with white letters), you type (in your case):

    RD/s '\\?\C:\Users\Public\Music\P.O.D.

RD is as a function of deleting files (not for the files).

You will then be asked if you are sure "(Y/N)" and then of course, you type 'Y' and press enter! " And like that... begone is the folder which you so frustrated! Happy days are back! : )

  • Music watch 65.4 GB files folder but no files in the folder

I bought a 1 to Digistore external hard drive - a few years ago, and I used it to store all my media since: photos, videos, music and e-books. My main reason to have the external hard drive is to simplify the process of moving these files and make sure they are more protected. I recently got a new laptop which runs on Windows 7, but also a new iPod touch. So as I got the computer a little longer, I already transferred my purchases and others from my old iPod to my new computer, and all my music to fit on the iPod 32 GB, I had to choose the option "Convert higher than 256 Kbps rate songs" in iTunes. If all transferred files were 256 Kbps. So I plug in my hard drive to your new PC and "Scan [ed] and difficulty [ed]" (which lasted 5 hours). So I decided to check the files in Windows Explorer, manually before I imported the iTunes (I also had major duplication problems, which doubled my bytes in iTunes). I discovered that all my files are intact and my photos, videos and e-books are all there, but none of my music is in the "Music" file on my hard drive, except for the 2 files that were not in subfolders. I then check 'Properties' to the 'Music' file and there 65.4 Go in the folder, but the records are all empty... I lost in the initial transfer to iPod music, but I really need the original quality of the files on my hard drive, as I'm a bit of a purest, I guess. I've referenced the other topics on this site, but they do not mention external drives and pressing Alt + T > Folder Options > view > show hidden files and folders did not work for me either. As far as I know, this new computer (second-hand) had no viruses, and files were able to see on my laptop XP before I plugged on the Windows 7 laptop, but now, say something to the effect of "No files in the folder" when you open the sub folders. I am seriously distressed my what, as music is a majority of my life, and I know that the files are not lost, if they still 65 GB of disk space. Could someone give me please a solution that works? Also, I noticed that when I eject my XP laptop hard drive, the light on it turns off and I can feel the drive stop its process, but when I eject on the new Windows 7 laptop, the PC says 'remove mass storage device Safe,' but the light stays on and functions still drive. I understand that this can be a huge problem, but once the device is ejected, I can't access to more info on this subject, and even when I looked to find the "Stop generic-mass" option in Windows 7, I couldn't. It seems to me that while Windows 7 has a friendlier user interface, missing some functions altogether, or complicate otherwise simple used to be things to do.

"Make active"... There is no available disk-levelaction.  What you mean is "Mark Partition as Active".  Is not what you or the other poster may think it is, it does not have a disk "available or unavailable", that is applied to the partition level and what is the MBR to say which partition to boot when he takes control of the boot process.  In other words, the Master Boot Record has some code telling him that it loads the boot sector of the active partition, that's all.

Not necessarily any active partition on the disk at all, often data discs do not have an active partition, active partitions are only necessary at the start of the operating systems, otherwise there is no need to have an active partition and does not mean a hill of beans in the ability to use the disc to store data.

There can only be one active partition on a disk given at any time, if a partition is already marked as active and if you select this option to mark another partition on the same disk as active the active indicator will be removed from the active partition and the other partition will be marked as active, the active indicator will be "switched" between the partitions.  If you remove the indicator active partition used to boot your Windows installation then MBR won't be able to start Windows, and it will give you an error message indicating that he could not find an operating system to load or the boot loader is missing.

    Hi Kathleen,.

For your information the travel records user is not recommended by Microsoft.

To restore the user folder to the default location, try the steps for all the user folder to the default location.

    a. in Windows 8.1, go to research charm, type %UserProfile%, and select the folder whose name reads something like C:\Users\yourname.

    b. once there, you can move your documents.
    c. right-click on the Documents folder. Select Properties.
    d. click on the location tab
    e. click on restore by default and then restart the computer

    f. when the process is complete, repeat it with photos, music, videos and all the other files that you want to move to the default location.

I hope this helps. Let us know the status of the issue.

You can use a backup tool that updates only modified files.  You don't say what kind of computer you use.

ITunes is actively using media on the external hard drive so you can replace it. Simply copy the media to one other player does not have iTunes it use it.  iTunes is probably still using media to your internal drive.
