It was a little annoying having to do each time I opened photoshop, but at least I could still access the program. Now the tab close and photoshop does not at all, which implies that the only way is to go for a trial of a service that I have no interest in. Any ideas of how I might solve this problem?

  Try this-

  Mac OS: choose Applications > Adobe Application Manager (if it is there)

  Open the application manager - look for ' updates or update and uncheck - then try to launch Photoshop (it work could )

  This means that you have purchased an upgrade version, not a full version and the installer wants to be an earlier version already on your computer, or your previous version serial number

  .7z is a compressed file that can be opened in an extraction software. If you are using a windows machine, you can use the software Winrar, Winzip or 7z to extract the .7z file.
